GuP is just overall a fun ride. Not to mention there's some interesting bits around it (helped save the real Oorai, helped save the last BT-42, etc. There's also a translated video on KZbin of the military advisors of the show doing commentary, highly recommend). Not ashamed to say Anzio was what turned me into a pastaboo. I had never really looked into the Italian side of the war. Of which, shame on me, there was some amazing stuff. From cavalry and bayonet charges to furious defenses, biplane pilots doing far better than they had any right to scuba saboteurs, and the wealth of myths or misconceptions that PLAGUE any conversation on that matter (not helped by italian sources only more recently being translated/looked into and contesting old info). Be proud, Eta--- -*GuP dub* You're dead to me.

The fact The Chieftain himself helped collab on GuP says a lot. He said he was even impressed how authentic the tanks looked, especially the interior of the M3 since a lot of media get the transmission placement wrong.

There's nothing wrong with being a gup fan. In my opinion, every tank nerd should watch atleast 1 episode from the show (where there are actual tanks, of course) so they know how gup looks like. I also know that not everyone should be a gup fun, just accept the fact that some people like different things. I actually learned new stuff from gup, even as a veteran tank nerd. I also enjoyed the amount of historical references in the show, from the most obvious ones, till the most hidden. And the soundtrack is just a masterpiece, each march is rebranded.

Girls und Panzer is the sole reason I'm even interested in tanks to begin with. I've been a military vehicle fan since I was a kid but was only ever concerned with WW2 Prop planes. As far as I was concerned tanks were slow, boring, and all looked the same. Then on a whim I decided to give GuP a try. Fast forward a few years and now I'm here. It was such a fun, action packed, and genuinely educational start into the tank rabbit hole. I gave me an appreciation and new found interest in tanks I never had before. Without GuP I doubt I would have ever gotten interested in tanks and found awesome channels like your own.

GuP is honestly the main reason for how my life is turning out. it basically kicked me into a full blown tank enthusiast, and because of that, i've become a completely different person than who i was before i knew what GuP was. i decided to take an auto shop course in my school because i saw the automotive club doing their thing and thought 'hey, that's fuckin sick!', and then i learned how to rebuild an engine like the back of my hand. i decided that i wanted tanks to literally be my life, so i decided to enroll in my country's military to become a tanker, and my application is actively under review. but before that, i needed my grades higher so i could get more options in the field, so i studied harder and bumped up my averages by about 10-15%. i wanted models of the tanks in the show, so i became a scale armour modeller with an extensive collection in 1/35 scale. honestly, i think GuP has had a bigger impact on my life than my birth.

Girls und Panzer was the first Anime I was ever exposed to years back. If I recall, it was 7th grade. I was in a study hall on my chrome book. In my KZbin recommendations, there was a video titled something along the lines of "how to destroy a Maus". It was the scene from episode 11 or 12 of the anime where they take the Maus head-on. Being a tank enthusiast ever since I was four years old, I gladly enjoyed watching the clip. It took me awhile to find a way to watch the show, but I eventually managed to watch it. It was goofy, but it was faithful and fun. As of now, I don't think there's a single show or movie I love more than Girls und Panzer.

The action is better drawn than sex scenes which isn’t a bad thing but I couldn’t help but wish for more Miho x Yukari action that didn’t involve them being traumatised by the horrors of war. I KNEW IT! Okay, I'm taking this as an excuse to finally go watch the entire thing. I've only ever seen the videos about GuP from Potential History, and I thought it and his videos were really fun. To this day, I've never actually sat down to watch the entire show and movie. As someone who's been a tank lover since early childhood, and an anime fan more and more as time goes on, I genuinely love what the show does. As you say, it's not just a show about tanks, it's a show about tank enthusiasts, tank history, and being in love with tanks. I'm not alone when I say Yukari is my spirit animal. Also, once again, War Thunder is a gift and a curse in so many ways. I play it every day, and I hate it so much of the time that I often wonder why I'm still there. Then I start looking through my vehicle collection, thinking about what more could be added, go back to decorating my favorite tanks, and see things like your GuP skins and voices, and I remember why I often love the game more. Don't hold back, embrace what you love, to its absolute fullest.

You just got s new subscriber. Yes im a ARL-44, yes GuP literally started my interest in tank history and boosted way to much of it and it even does now on. Yes i understand every reason and all the stuffs you said, probably a lot of us thought the same when the GuP idea or introduction came to us, like "how im i gonna even stand a scholarship show with young girls riding tanks?". Then we all changed our minds and probably life is more easier when we care less of overthinking and just give it a try when we actually discover its a damn entertaining show, its stupid and nonsence but a really fun one. Also, I absorb any content with remotely any hint of that late 19 century early 20th century technology, so if you're not interested in highschool girls doing x or cutesy stuff, there are more serious and cinematic anime out there like the first season of Last Exile or Pumpkin Scissors, as well as OVA like Sky Crawlers and The Cockpit. This led to me being more open to anime, and there are also great grown-up friendly ones like Black Lagoon and Jormungand. I've also began to appreciate 90's animation like Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor. Truly transcends my notion of what an anime is expected to be. Then on the other end of the spectrum, there's literally shows that cater to the normal anime fan, like that one where all the ships in WW2 are girls.

i´m gonna be probably only person here who isnt that impressed from Gup. I dont say I dont like that anime, Ive seen it whole and Its kinda decent. The problem is that being military and history fan since childhood and now seeing ww2 machinery moving and acting like some kind of sports car is just ridiculous. I like how they even show some rare ww2 tank variants but thats probably all. Seeing pz4 drifting, going super natural speed, jumping across river, the turret rotation going super quickly... it just goes on and I find it ridiculous and kinda hard to watch.

I feel a similar way about the Mobile gacha game Azur Lane. I was into warships and warship history and although I'm more partial to anime than perhaps you were when you were first exposed to GUP, but I was skeptical of the nature of the game. I had been exposed to AL via their collaborations with WoWs which I also play. I was honestly pretty frustrated with WoWs and the way the devs were (and still are) taking the game and was looking for something new. For those that don't know, Azur Lane is a Mobile game which has a universe in which historical warships from the mostly WW2 periord are personified as anime characters. It turns out that this is actually a fantastic way to interact with history. I've fallen in love with thr game and it has spurred on an even greater interest in warship history and introduced me to ships and their stories that I wouldn't have known about or considered. The shipgirls have numerous references in their design and dialogue of the ships they represent. It's a blast, and it's honestly just one of my favorite pieces of media now. There's also well over 600+ shipgirls in the game with still more to add. Some of my favorites include USS West Virginia, USS New Jersey, USS Laffey, USS Honolulu, USS Kearsarge, HMS King George V, HMS Sirius, HMS Royal Oak, IJN Noshiro, IJN Shimakaze, IJN Maya, IJN Amagi, KMS Bismarck, KMS Ägir, KMS Regensburg, RN Zara and the one in my profile picture, RN Duca Degli Abruzzi.

GuP was the first anime I ever watched. I had a friend back in high school who was very into anime, I on the contrary was not (not necessarily hated anime, just wasn't interested). However, I was very into tanks and he wanted to introduce me to anime as he thought it might be something I would like. So one day after school when I was at his place playing Xbox he was like, hey I found a funny show about tanks and girls, want to watch it? 6 Years later and I still re-watch it on occasion. GuP opened me up to more anime's as well and man there are some absolute bangers out there that I would probably have never seen. For that reason alone I can say I am a very big fan of GuP.

Eta, i don’t know if you will ever read this, but there is a GUP game called: Dream Tank Match for the PS4 and Switch. the game is in FULL japanese with english subtitles, but was only released on europe and Japan so you might struggle to get it, although, as somebody who own’s in the switch, i can say it’s totally worth it!

I guess this weird obsession/aversion when it comes to anime is a thing in US and some other countries. I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't watch anime and also I have never seen a weeb in my life, even though my job involves a lot of anime stylization. We had anime on tv, we exchanged bootleg anime vhs' and cd's back then... No one approached it as some weird thing or something that is to be observed as being too specific and not a broad medium. It was really weird for me to see this attitude when internet became a thing, mostly from americans. And the exaggeration of it was also weird to me, it never crossed my mind to call someone a weeaboo for being invested into anime or ameriboo for being invested into american movies, for example.

I like Girls Und Panzer, I watched it a lot when I was 12 and I even got my hair cut short because I really liked one of the main characters 🏃‍♀️. There are a few things that bother me about the Anime, I haven’t watched episode 4 since I saw the anko dance thing and the community weirdly sexualises character’s who are underaged including a 13 year old. I do not care if their fictional. Seek help. The Anime isn’t what got me into tanks, but it did cause my fucking hyper-fixation on just one tank specifically. The M26 Pershing. I got so angry watching Der film seeing Pershing’s being knocked out I wanted to stomp out all of the main characters and wished the Karl great would kill them ☺️

Here is a list of other anime that I think history fans like myself would probably enjoy. AOT - Attack on Titan very very popular anime, largely because its just that good. While on the outside it just looks like giant zombies but its so much more than that. It has a lot of surprisingly good history aspects especially in the later seasons where becomes a lot more about political tensions and general warfare. There's a lot of surprisingly realistic equipment and good world building. I cant say too much as its extremely easy to spoil. point being I would recommend anyone watch it and its now done and concluded which a (in my opinion) good ending. Girls last Tour 2 girls chilling in a post apocalyptic wasteland on a kettenkrad. Its a very chill show and the first half definitely had me gawking over some of the abandoned equipment. Its not a must watch but I think anyone would enjoy it. Tanya - Saga of Tanya the Evil Have you played HOI4? have you ever played Kaiserriech for HOI4? now imagine that with a grounded magic system and a psychopathic loli protagonist and you got Tanya. If you like Hearts of Iron you will probably like this anime. there is more but these are the ones that come to my head atm.

⁠@@Lewd-Tenant_IsanI haven’t watched it since it aired so I don’t exactly remember much about it but I do remember JSDF vs Fantasy scenes, damn those were cool. There’s also a lot of anime I have heard about but never watched like Zipang which is an anime about a modern Japanese naval vessel going back in-time to world war 2 or Izetta which is about a witch that flies around on an anti-tank rifle fighting in a not quite world war 2 similar to Tanya.

I've been a GuP fan I think for 4 years? (Not hardcore, just fan) and honestly it's what propelled me into loving tanks in the first place. I've never seen an episode of the show before but thanks to watching Potential History's video on like almost the whole trilogy, I came to love it. Also the OST is a bop, the military marches are one thing, but the soothing calm music there is also nice. Anyway that's all, ye.

Girls und Panzer is my favorite for two main reasons One, it made me change my opinion on anime I thought it was bad and cringe but gup changed that, gup is amazing written in it’s subplots, and characters although there is a lot of them they all have personality to them and they playoff of how the countries were in the time around WW2. Two, the tanks they designs are perfect to real life the drifting although not realistic it it adds coolness and many other reasons made me want to learn about it, I I’m now a tank enthusiast this is also another great reason why I like gup it made me want to learn about tanks and maybe for a lot of others. In conclusion Girls und Panzer is really well made in my opinion in the writing, the tanks, characters, and world building, animation. Also great video.

Talking about War Thunder, Gaijin was caught permanently banning innocent players back in 2022, effectively committing fraud in the process. IMHO, companies that commit fraud should not be rewarded or mentioned.

Like 4 years ago when I started playing World of tanks Blitz (mobile version) the game collaborated with Gup and they made gup tanks to the game. Back than I didn't like anime (i still hate it) so I didn't like the ingame gup tanks either. BUT! A year later somehow I decided to watch the series. Then everything changed. I fell in love with the show the same way you did. I am a fan of it to this day. (I still don't like other animes) In fact, I have modded Wot blitz the same way you did with War Thunder.

man honestly its the only and precious anime no one asked, But for a Tank enjoyer that watch anime as myself its just awesome, the WW2 References, Tanks driving like formula 1 cars and their crazy solutions in battle, the characters representing their countries is just so fun to me, its just if you mix 2 things you like but are completely unrelated and it still works well, its the anime that made me even more interested about tanks. But i mainly got interested in tanks because of World of tanks, now i am a Normal War thunder player and ww2 enjoyer.

the best part of GuP was the propaganda film they made all the HS girls watch "a strong but delicate art. That aims to make girls and women alike more polite, graceful, modest, and gallant.
