If your're mainly focused on the present, even if something bad happens you'll going to deal with the situation then and there, and only dealing with emotions in the present due to a real situation, rather than always worring due to thinking about imaginary or possible futures. We suffer more than we need to. If you subtracted needless suffering from humans, and only the inevitable suffering was left, our suffering would be reduced massively.
