Question, your overlay here is quite different from the one in your MSI Afterburner video, how did you get the RAM with it's speeds and the App latency to show?

You can make OBS use the NVENC encoder, and it drastically improves the performance of it.

I know; I've had it that way in the past but I should and will do different encoders in the wider benchmark pass.

Update to this- only certain clipping softwares have the ability to swap encoders as specifically as OBS does, so I standardized all of them to use NVENC for the upcoming vid. Some (like steelseries) do not even allow me to swap what encoder is uses, so that's driven by the app.

I use the steelseries app for Sonar (the audio section of the app) for EQ and compression, but also use Moments because SS app is basically an all in one tool. I am heavily CPU bound (RTX2070 with Ryzen 5 3600x), do you have any advice on other audio manipulation softwares as well as clipping softwares that might be useful to me as my microphone is unbearable without Sonar I also have really bad stutters in-game from consistent 75-80 to 15 for around a minute at a time, other than them my fps is quite consistent

Duh. OBS does scene composition which happens on the GPU. The actual encoding happens on whatever encoder you've chosen, but the scene composition requires GPU even if you've selected a CPU encoder. And everything that requires GPU also requires CPU because you can't coordinate tasks without a CPU, that's just how computers work. The more scenes and sources you have, the more impactful scene composition should be. Shadowplay doesn't do any of that, it just records the game, there's no scene composition to be done. So its impact should be primarily on the encoder and very little if anything else. Though I wonder what would happen if you enable the webcam recording on Shadowplay cause if I recall correctly it has that ability. It might have to do scene composition then just like OBS and its performance might drop. That would be a more apples to apples comparison. Also, disable both preview and the audio mixer dock on OBS for best latency and performance. And make sure when you're recording, OBS is minimized. And finally, Shadowplay is encoding with NVENC, comparing it to OBS with iGPU is less than pointless, it's potentially misleading. Not only will the iGPU usage affect power draw of the CPU impacting results, but the GPU encoder is a lot closer to the GPU physically and logically so I imagine the data transfer that needs to happen between GPU and encoder is less intense. I don't know if the GPU can send directly to the NVENC chip or if it still needs to involve the CPU and memory, but in either case, this is not an apples to apples comparison.

(Hey BTW this is Klem's old account that I'm responding with because I don't have access to my channel at work) It's not apples to apples and is a better but also worst-case scenario comparison. I have other scenes in OBS that are likely drawing resources (idle CPU usage without preview was about 1%) but I attempted to shift that around with using my iGPU as the encoder of the video like I usually do. Originally, the plan was to do one with each encoder on a fresh slate, then gather all those other clipping softwares and compare their overhead. I'll be making a redo of this video when possible that takes all of those things into account.

Do any of the records leverage the cuda cores? Might be why shadows play has a low impact

Nvidia's NVENC is doen on a separate part of the GPU but can still slightly degrade GPU-bound performance. OBS does particularly worse here because of the extra overhead from scene management (and I don't think that is due to the GPU's cores having to work, but rather the extra CPU cycles it needs to maintain those scenes.)

I'll make a more thorough guide in the coming weeks, just need the time to test! Don't know where shadowplay will land then, but it's looking pretty good right now.
