I just came across this channel and you Richard a few weeks ago and I've been using your strategies and this by far has been my best crappie season since I was a kid in southwest Gerogia. I joined the Army and came to Fort Campbell, KY in 1995 and haven't done much crappie fishing until this year. Thanks for your wisdom and enthusiasm. It's much appreciated for this country boy🎣🎣💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🤝🏾

Great video, again, Richard. Course by now, I am not surprised. I still want to bet if you backed into the lake, put your bucket down by the water, and started hollering, " it's Richard, I'm here." Those crappie would come up and jump in the bucket. Thank you so much, Richard, for all the knowledge and tips that you give us. God bless ya'll and stay safe out there on the water. Hope your planning another fishing trip with Mama Sue. She is a tremendous lady. And she seems to keep you on your toes.

That Bobby Garland is deadly on bass too. They absolutely smoke it. I use the ice blue shad color with a white road runner. And oh I bought a pack of bobbys because of your vids. Gonna have to try some of your other recs. Bass can't stand them! xD That tail wiggle action when you just twitch it in front of their face drives them mad.

Bobby Garland Blue chrome is my go to at my local lake, they can't resist it under the right conditions! The blue color and glittler is on the bottom of the bait, and for me, out preforms blue thunder

I picked up using 2lb test & palomar knots watching your videos many years ago and it’s all I use these days. My water doesn’t have much structure and sometimes I’ll go a few trips before I re tie and change jig heads. I just like to push my luck and see how much I can get away with 😅

This is my favorite fishing these days. Northern WI everyone is after musky or walleyes, nobody chases crappie after the spawn...or knows how to catch them during summer. I bring my Dad, and he uses minnow/slip bobber and I use light line with super light jigs. We are usually even with each other on fish in the boat. Drifting is usually the best for us

I don't know why, but my most consistent crappie color in my local lakes is Leland's Bison (black and gold). It doesn't seem to matter if the water is clear, stained or muddy; sunny or cloudy. It is my go-to color. I even catch sauger on it from time to time.

Question. How you do seem to separate your targeting of crappies in waters that are predominantly smallmouth bass? It my area, you get a small window during pre and spawn for the crappie to catch any. Before or after that its as if they disappear. Thanks

so Ive been using a medium power rod and had no success. Should I invest in a lightweight-ultra lightweight to have a better chance at catching these crappie?
@I_Count_Twice8 ай бұрын
The fish don't care what power your rod is. You having problems finding the crappie or getting them to bite?
@kingsal43678 ай бұрын
Not necessarily been getting bites but it’s something about the hookset that doesn’t work out with crappie I guess they call them paper mouth for a reason
@I_Count_Twice8 ай бұрын
@@kingsal4367 go lighter on the set. I use a medium-light almost exclusively with light line. 4-6lb. Mono or braided with mono leader. The stretch helps. I just raise the rod. Don't have to set it. Light wire hooks penetrate easily. Lighter power rods make it feel fun though. 1lber feels huge. Good luck out there!

He's here to help people learn about fishing. How to fish, what lures work best depending on if the water is clear or muddy. What to use if it's sunny or cloudy. This is the stuff that actually matters!! Not showing different locations of fish! That's not helping people learn about the sport he does!! He Helps people with letting them know what to do and what not to do and so on. Rather he fishes Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas or wherever, those fish will bite that hook the same way! He's showing A LOT OF VERY HELPFUL INFORMATION! Also, of course he's fishing where he already knows the fish are. Why would you not??? He's able to do what he came out to do, Catch fish!! @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine you are a wonderful person and I really love watching you and learning from you!!!
