Are you coming up short on your jab or right hand? Your stance may have a lot to do with it. This one is a little long-winded so for the impatient, jump to about 14:30, but that's dissection for you.

Another great budget glove is Primo from Thailand. They are made for muay thai but they have a western boxing glove style to them

Jump to about 14:30 if you are impatient (lots of jabbering in the meantime, heh heh).

KZbin needs more old school boxers dropping wisdom, thanks you. Almost at a 1000 subs, where's the next video coach?

Thanks! Planning to get it done this weekend. Having to work around my day job these days (and rain/snow outside and huge COVID numbers and gyms closed again, dammit).

Do you still spar? I'm 50, i just do light sparring.

Gary, yes and no. I sparred often until I was 54 and even took part in a white-collar fight night against a pretty serious kid half my age at 52. Then I was smacked by COVID multiple times and only now I'm getting back to it. I'm almost 56 now, but I still have a lot of quickness, pop, but unfort age (and COVID) have given me heavy feet (which I'm working on), and since coming back I've been nagged by little injuries. I'm probably going to be doing some sparring with guys in the 20 to 45 age range (some quite serious--including a young killer amateur champ) this weekend. I say probably, as also I'm rebuilding my biz since COVID--lots of things on my head. when I do spar I I have good headgear, 16 oz. gloves (and I make sure my opponent does too) and if I feel like I'm getting hit to much I back off and make it light. I like to go at around 70 percent, but sometimes with young guys it amps up pretty fast... The big worry I get as I get older is that I don't need, for example, a detached retina. I have a lot of experience so I still don't get hit clean too often, but younger guys are just younger. I can't say I recommend it over 50, but it's addictive, and I think sparring can be done smartly and safely if you do not have other health issues and don't do it too often.
