Love the idea. Also if you sandwich a paint stick under the c-clamp on top of the joist with one end sticking out you can use that instead of propping it up from underneath.

Great video- thanks for sharing. Do you wrap the deck tape under the joists or just put it on the sides ?

you don't need to clamp them if you just tap in the "speed prongs" at the top of the hangers before screwing the hangers in. that will hold the hanger plenty steady. also, realistically, if you have access to the OUTSIDE of the joist rim, you should be pounding nails in from the OUTSIDE first! you look like in the video that your joist is going to end up separated a bit from the rim before it's even connected to it!

What if ridge board happens to be out of plumb??

you're meant to hammer in the metal prong at the top.

Nice idea but time is money, I would rather not spend the day putting a few joists up and staring at the quality. Tape is smart though. Block of wood on top the joist will do the same thing faster.

clamp the top scrap wood and the hanger at the same time with one clamp like those Irwin 48in clamps. i myself never tired it but i just though of it just now lol
