KCD is one of the most immersive games I've ever played. Like thinking you are in there in the world. Especially around the foresty areas, they really feel like youre in a real life forest. The soundscape, animal sounds, hooves, wind everything is so nicely done in those games. Fantastic audio engineering. Very nice clear sounds, not muted to hell like in most modern games.

@@intothevoid2046 You can fix quite a bit about the combat with mods, I know I did. Remove Master Strike (turns game too easy and boring once its introduced, combos are completely useless because enemy will just master strike you), remove slow-mo, remove target lock, faster arrows, no arrow trails. KCD does the combat and progression very differently than most games, you start out as weak as Henry does. In most games you can kill first enemies easily and without thought. Not so much in KCD. It didnt resonate with people who are used to being handheld in games.

The little details makes it so immersive. For example you are a peasant in the game, therefore you cannot read, like every other peasant in the world at that time. So there is a quest, where you need to learn how to read. And after that you can read books, but not books in latin! Insane! Never seen anything like it before.

My only concern is the combat. I'm not sure which sections of the game people managed to play, but in KCD there was a massive difference in combat between the early game and when you were fighting 3 or 4 armored opponents at once. Late game KCD felt more like a fight against their lock on system than the enemies. If Warhorse can fix that, I expect KCD2 to be a masterpiece. The world is going to be beautiful and immersive and the story engaging, that feels like a given.

@SnailHatan
@SnailHatan Ай бұрын
“reactive” is a stretch for KCD. Doing quests that are specifically built to change things in-game doesn’t make it reactive. The guards are just as incompetent as Skyrim guards, nothing actually changes outside of story quests or the townbuilding DLC. It’s a great game, but reactive is not how I’d describe it at all. Putting on better clothes to boost charisma and get discounts isn’t reactive
@tj-co9go

Not really that interactive and reactive, but it is a beautiful and accurate historical period setting
@The.Nasty.
@The.Nasty. Ай бұрын
@@SnailHatanI’d argue it’s reactive to a degree. One example off the top of my head: the quest where you’re sent to investigate that stable near the starting town… the time you take to travel there will change some minor things, if you take too long the guards will handle a lot of the investigation for you and chastise you for your lateness. It’s not world changing AI or anything, but minor things you do can affect certain outcomes and how you’re treated.

Purely in game speaking i will have no clue cause sometime sir radzig says hurry but its not actually time sensitive but ots not always like that though Its a very very tiny nitpick other than that i like having timed quests sure its sometimes can be a little inconvient but thats the point the world is not living by ur clock and for me this adds immersion instead of like skyrim for example if im not there nothing is happening that world lives by my clock

Soon, I finally played for myself: Days into the game, still frustrated with the combat, I rage quit just before the best climaxes of the story. Time went by n I came back, fully intending to finish Henry’s story(sike). You really have to put in the work/time to get better at the fighting. So immersive, it’s almost insane. Easily one of my top games next to RDR2 and God of War. 8:10

I’m glad you came back and loved it. I spent too much time trying to explain to people how the combat worked and not to get discouraged. Henry is garbage at first, two dudes with literal sticks will absolutely beat him down. Training with the guardsmen, practicing in the training yard, and learning the combos are all SUPER important. After a few dozen hours and better gear, I was able to 1v1 a trained knight in full plate.

The Royal Edition of KCD is on -85% sale on Steam right now. I bought it even though i already had it on different platform, because the devs just deserve it. Steam in my country asks for 5,99EUR. That's a freakin steal for game this good, including all the DLCs. I highly recommend everyone who love openworld games that don't rely on generic content, VERY original (but really clunky and tough to learn) combat system, funny dialogue and overall good writing. Dan Vávra might not be the most honest debater when it comes to politics and some elements of his worldview are definitely worrying a little, but he's definitely good writer, and he understands what a great game should have. The first Mafia was very good, and so is KCD. Also, a huge chunk of the KCD map is VERY realistic. Everything east from Samopesh and Ledetchko is close to 1:1. So you can visit Sasau region of medieval version of Czechia. My family used to have a summer cottage near Samopesh, i spent every summer there as a kid until 1994 when we had to sell :-(. I miss the place terribly. I truly regret they didn't stick to the map realism also west of Samopesh and Samopesh itself. They kinda folded the map right there at the edge of the village, moved Sasau way closer and much further south than where it really is, i guess to be able to fit few more villages that aren't really in walking distance from the Rattay/Talmberg/Ledetchko triangle. I still think that they could have done it anyway, because the real area between Samopesh and Sasau is basically just a river, rock cliffs with a few summer camps anyway, but the Warhorse team was small, and i guess they didn't want "empty" areas where only stuff that would happen would be generic bandit encounters. Filling that area with meaningful content would take time and resources, so they decided to just move Sasau (and everything north of Sasau) closer to the realistic part of the map. Still love the game, and i wish Warhorse success with KCD2.

I know someone inside the studio and I can confirm that Warhorse were a bit worried about AC: Shadows being delayed to the same month (KCD was delayed first before Ubisoft decided to release AC in the February as well). Even though people love to hate on AC: Shadows atm it's still a way more recognizable IP and Ubisoft has much bigger budget for marketing. People online will also want to talk about AC: Shadows when it comes out so I think it's only natural to be afraid that it might overshadow the release of KCD 2 a bit.

It could literally be the same game with the same physics and a new story and I would still play it. My only 'skeptical' take is that I really hope the story is just as good (or hopefully) better than the first. I really just want an epic medieval story that does justice to the age. I love the gameplay of the first already, but I really need an rpg with a soul again like the Witcher, the previous kcd, and red dead redemption 2 had. No more robotic, uninteresting, lifeless npcs like Bethesda, ubisoft, and smaller game, but mount and blade banner lord have had as of late. I played the original mount and blade. Though Bannerlord is a better game, the npcs feel like lifeless vessels compared to the compelling characters of the first. I am not worried about kcd2 because I've yet to have a bad experience with their game. The dlcs were good(especially a woman's lot, and band of bastards while it lasted) the story, though simple, was well told, and the characters all had things that added to the overarching story, like Hans Capon with a great character arc that proves he was right and actually a good lad the whole time, or the general feel of the game as henry slowly gains the respect and trust of the lords during the battles and missions. I just want expansion and a well written ending to Henry's story.

That is why in the first game if hit someone not wearing a helmet in the head they would die instantly. Actually it will be interesting to see how many people will follow "the based" studio (Warhorse) instead of very much not based Ubisoft lmao.

I can only imagine how it will be on the gaming pc. Crossbows are going to be fun; my only gripe is that they changed Henry's face, very small gripe. The org chart for Warhorse is really flat, and they don't really track things like that. If someone wants to hide a detail like an Easter egg, they can do it pretty easily. kcd1 as a whole was just act 1 of the story and therefore we had to wait for kcd2 which will be act 2 (the Bohemian paradise) and act 3 (kuttenberg) They ended the first one the way they did because the original plan was to release the second act 1 or 2 years after the first one and third with the same time gap after the second one but kcd 1 grew too much in size and Vávra being Vávra (an insane megalomaniac - which is great I think, given that he can deliver the best product possible as long as he’s not treated like he was during mafia 2 development) and Warhorse being full of other people that know really well what they're doing, they decided to make kcd2 the whole act 2&3 which is why the game took double the time of their original plan and is roughly double in size (at least the world is, and the script is apparently longer than that for bg3 which is a hard thing to do, but Warhorse is one of the studios which I believe can do a game as huge as this)
