Oh my gosh Matt! I know a lot of us can relate to the depression! I have been in and out of counseling for years for that very thing. Thank you for keeping it real! We all just need to keep praying. Every day can be a challenge. Please know that you are NOT alone! Love you guys so much. Can you imagine how bad it would be if we didn't have the Lord in our lives? Thank you for sharing!!

Thank you for sharing. As a young black male who is a father and a religious human with such a huge influence amongst your viewers and by extension all they touch, its so helpful to be vulnerable and destigmatize mental health challenges and getting support. It is by no means your responsibility, but it is such a gift you give in sharing what you can, when you can, safely. From a Mental Health Therapist of Color who enjoys watching you and your family navigate the world... I'm wishing you nothing but light, love and strength on your journey.

Sometimes we don’t know why we FEEL so depressed even when we KNOW we are so blessed. It’s refreshing to hear you speak about the reality of it. God knows what his warriors can handle and who his greatest leaders are to teach others about getting thru the struggle of depression. Praying for you and your family to continue to have the strength to hold each other down during this time of healing 🙏🏼❤

It seems like last year was tough for a lot of us. I also was dealing with some of the worst depression I’ve ever dealt with, and I’m assuming the same negative intrusive thoughts. On new years I cried out of joy for making it to another year. Psalms 139:8 says, if I ascend to heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in the depths, you are there. It’s important to remember that God is with us through it all. Read Psalms 13 and then Psalms 18 as well. Also, as you know, we do not fight against flesh and blood but against the evil spirits in the spiritual realm. My thoughts and prayers go out to Matt. This will only last for a season and God will deliver you out of it. Kudos to Glory for being so understanding and graceful during this time. My heart truly goes out to both of you. God’s got you.

My husband suffers from bipolar depression and anxiety. Everything you described sounds just like him. I know what it's like to see your husband struggling and feeling like there's nothing you can do to help. It'll be tough, but you will get through it ♥️ Btw I just discovered your channel and I can say without a doubt you are my favorite! I'm crying laughing at everything you guys post. I can tell you are genuine, which I appreciate SO much.

I'm not the only one who enjoys these more intimate, slowed down videos. So often we as viewers can get so comfortable with the normal style of your fun vids that we forget that you are in fact regular people, a regular family, etc. Matt, you're strong enough to get through the downsides because the same strength that raised Jesus from the dead is in you. It's in BOTH of you. May God continue to take you and your family from blessing to blessing and keep you strong in Him ❤️

Having severe anxiety/depression, I can relate exactly to this. The feeling of being “lazy” (and being called lazy), but in truth you’re so mentally exhausted you just can’t do anything. The severe anxiety of going out in Public and interacting with people. It’s a terrible feeling and I’m glad to hear you’re getting help ❤️ I’m here to support the Slice and Rice fam just as much as your videos have brightened my day when I needed them. Therapy or firms or help are nothing to be ashamed of and the important thing is that you’re getting better and managing! Anxiety/depression is always a roller coaster, and not a fun one to be on but something many of us can relate to

I usually don’t comment and just tend to lurk and admire you both from screen but I feel like this might be the right time to comment and let the two of you know how much I respect your craft, talent, relationship and courage to share your story so people like me, who can relate doesn’t feel alone. I was also diagnosed with depression during my pregnancy last year and I feel you Matt with these intrusive thoughts and these are the real downers because I am sincerely grateful for my life, especially to God for blessing me and my husband a beautiful healthy baby girl. But there are really days where you just don’t know how to go on and I just feel so bad and guilty for my little girl and my husband. But I am blessed because I have them and they are the very reason why I still have both my feet on the ground. Big hugs to your wonderful family and I pray that each one of us especially those who are going through something can get the help they need and deserve. Healing takes time and I believe that we will all get there. God bless your family and each one of us! ❤️

thank you guys for letting us see parts of your life. this was an awesome video. this is a big reason why i started following way back when. yall are real. its possible to have the "perfect" life, marriage, job and still have to beat these bosses of mental health. anxious thoughts, ideations, depression, etc. are things that may be apart of me forever but some days i really kick their ass. remembering those days makes me hopeful. the love you two have for each other is divine. i see you remembering your Self little by little Matt. Realistic, disciplined and graceful. But most importantly i see you being kind to your Selves. much love yall! I wish you both a long, happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

As someone who is waiting on the LORD to restore the relationship I had with my fiancé it was a blessing to watch your wedding video. I felt led to watch this video now and I just want to let you know I will be praying for you. JOY is your portion! “To grant to those who mourn in Zion the following: To give them a turban instead of dust [on their heads, a sign of mourning], The oil of joy instead of mourning, The garment [expressive] of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called the trees of righteousness [strong and magnificent, distinguished for integrity, justice, and right standing with God], The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3 AMP Love and God bless your beautiful family! ♥️

Thank you for sharing Slice, depression is hard and it hits deep, in ways that those who haven't gone through it don't really understand. I have bi polar, depression, anxiety and PTSD. And I'm tired of hearing "pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get over it" and things like "you're fine, just take a walk" or "think positive thoughts", like if it was that easy wouldn't we just be doing it? It's harder then hard to hear people that know you, and even those who don't, tell you that you're crazy but don't do anything to help, to look at you like you aren't even you any more. I've been there so many times and it hurts down to the core. I'm so glad that you're getting the help you need and have a wonderful partner and family who are there for you. I've finally got mine and even though I still have family that don't understand, I've at least got my husband and he gets it because he's gone through the same. Prayers for you Matt, it sucks but it will get better, we all have our good days and our bad days, hoping for more good days coming your way.

Thank you so much Matt for trusting us enough to be so vulnerable about your depression and mental health. I just wanted to say that you’re never alone in your struggles. So many of us have gone through/are going through the “same!” Depression is a real disease and as someone who has experienced it severely as well, I found a multifaceted approach is what personally helped me best. That being therapy, medication if necessary, diet, water intake, exercise, supplements, regulating stress, etc. Just like you said Matt, there will be days you feel like giving up as it’s a fight, but truly, it will not be this way forever! You WILL get better in Jesus’ name with all of us supporting you and your beautiful family. 🥰❤️

Bro I've been there. Still working on it. Rid yourself from expectations both external (from those around you) and internal (including those you project on yourself and others). Live a life of gratitude for yourself, not just gratitude for others. That is key, be grateful that you are who you are and that your loved ones are blessed because YOU are YOU. YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH my brother! Thinking otherwise would be like questioning whether God fearfully and wonderfully made you. There's no questioning that right? There lies your answer my brother! You have no flaws, it's just your defense system doing its job wonderfully. Use that warning system as an asset. God bless you abundantly sister Glory, for being such a loving and supportive wife to Matt. You're both an amazing team! Keep it up! Your diet is also crucial. Research the effects of diet in physical and mental health.

Thank you for sharing your truth, Matt. You’re tackling some tough life experiences and by you sharing your story you’ve helped so many people. I had a nervous breakdown for the first time in 2021 and I also had experienced what felt like hallucinations for the first time. I’m currently still going through depression and anxiety and dealing with my own trauma. Yes you are blessed but you’ve experienced the unthinkable when you were wrongfully charged for a crime you never committed. I’ve been a fighter my entire life and it’s just now I’m learning what it means to surrender. Sometimes instead of running away from our feelings we just have to feel them whether it’s anger hurt pain or fear. Just be present and remember you are not every thought you have. I wish you the best. Sending Gloria lots of love at this time too. Stay blessed ❤

I’m glad you are getting help. I encourage you to read through Psalms. During my rough patches, I found comfort to see that I was not alone and how men of old handled the same feelings that can sometimes overwhelm me. Elijah , Jeremiah, King David.... Psalms 42:5-6 (NET) 5 Why are you depressed, O my soul? Why are you upset? Wait for God! For I will again give thanks to my God for his saving intervention. 6 I am depressed, so I will pray to you while I am trapped here in the region of the upper Jordan, from Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Keep praying keep believing!

Matt. thank you. You sharing your experience has 100% helped me. These few past months has been the hardest time for me as a freshman in college for the fall semester. I've taken college courses before in high school but living on campus no matter how close home you are is a challenge. Especially dealing with financial and tuition problems while trying to stay afloat with grades and personal life and responsibilities. All in all, I'm grateful for your honesty. Now as the spring semester starts, I will wait on the Lord and His plans for me. He sent me to this school for a reason, so now I just need to trust in Him.

It’s a bad day. Not a bad life. That’s what I have to keep reminding myself during my low-lows. I see the void in Matt’s eyes and it’s heart breaking. I grew up and lived with mental health with both my mother and brother for over 30 years. We loss my brother in 2017. I encourage you to continue this path and be a strong role model for your boys. Sending you so much love and light. Ps: have you looked at blood work? Turns out my entire family was severely deficient in vitamin d

I too suffer from a form of depression and it is a constant battle but it can get better. I could see just your energy in your last videos that you felt heavy. I could see you were trying so hard to be present and we appreciate that. But we appreciate more than anything that you took that huge step in getting the help you need. I pray that soon you will be free of your mind and be at peace with yourself because you and your beautiful family deserve that and more. Just keep reminding yourself that this feeling isn't forever although it may seem that way. It does, and it WILL get better.

Please use that footage for the office reveal, yes! Also, thanks for sharing Matt and Glory❤️🙏🏾 We keep on praying. "I lift up my eyes to the mountains- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2. My grandpa loves this psalm, to meditate on it during rough times when all seems hopeless or pointless. I love listening to the Brooklyn Tab song version of it. I pray you continue using the help the Lord provides for you, in the form of the love from your family and friends and professional help too. God bless you both and your wonderful kiddos💞🫂

Matt, the way you described your depression is EXACTLY how I described depression the times I went through it. It’s a feeling of sadness that does not go away even when you know there’s nothing to be sad about. Im sorry you’re going through this, I know how hard it can be. But , just remember depression and anxiety can be part of you for some time but it does not define you Matt. Ask friends and family to describe you and I know they would all just say positive things. And Glory! My utmost respects for you! Just the fact that you are there for him and you listen to him says so much! Gods got you! You two are amazing! 👏🏻♥️

Matt, you are strong and guided. You got this. Depression is a heavy mental game. You will over come. Thank you for expressing yourself and being open about your struggles. There are so many men that are going thru a inner battle and don't seek help. You are important. Your beautiful family wouldn't be, without YOU. Stay strong and keep moving forward. I am also finding my way thru anxiety and depression. 🧡

Sometimes letting go of things that cause depression is the hardest thing to do. Even trying to know what's causing it can be a mystery. Why am I feeling this way, why am I in this postion. I'm no religious professional or a licensed therapist, but I do know that trying to keep control of things that's uncontrollable is my, at least partially, reason why I feel down. I think its knowing what I am capable of doing but not being afraid of what I can't, for God won't forsake you or leave you with anything you can't handle, is comforting. You guys are beautiful and have left an incredible impression for those seeking a real realtionship. Wish you the perserverence and wisdom to go further in this infinite walk of life.

Matt thank you so much for sharing this part of your life. Lord knows it isn’t easy. 2022 was not an easy year for many of us, myself included, it tested me so much mentally and emotionally especially around Christmas, it has been a lot of dark times. But seeing yourself and Glory address these mental health issues and talk so openly about it is like a blessing. Thank you for sharing and being brave enough to talk about it online. We love you guys and God bless you both! 🙏🏽
