the fluance does sound better, but seeing them side by side, wow, that size difference is insane lol! the kanto sounds alright for its size tho, would definitely buy them to use as desktop speakers at a more reasonable price tho. awesome review!

This is one of the most useful speaker reviews I've ever seen. Thanks for making it! I like that you also do comparisons to the laptop speakers since for some of us this might be the first proper speakers we're getting.

Besides the great sound I really like the subtle and clean design and of course modern connectivity like USB-C DAC.

What an outstanding unit! Just received mine. Two compact satellites, great neutral sound, USB C input and RCA subwoofer out that allows me to add any subwoofer that I want. Nothing else has these features AFAIK. Steep price at $349 but worth it for something that will last many years.

Nice review, mate! I liked the Oras better than my iLoud Micro Monitors but returned them because they were a little too big for frequent travel. The iLoud Micros fit easily in my backpack with my MacBook Air and they sound damn good for such tiny speakers.

Strange question can you play a bluetooth source and a physical source at the same time? I use BT on Mac and wired on PC. The Audioengine A1's let me do both at same time.

Brought these, and they're fine, above average for speakers of their size. It's worth noting though that speakers only open up when they're in the upper half of their volume range. If you're listening to music at a lower volume (such as late at night, or if your in a flat with thin walls), the sound is muddy and lacks both bass and treble. Still would recommend, but its something to be aware of if you're considering.

useful comment, thanks. im thinking of getting them for my bedroom tv setup - for movies. Would they be suitable for that in your opinion?

What if you were to set the volume of the speakers to the upper half range, while lowering the volume of the connected device (such as a laptop computer)?

😁 I can see that, in person I like the ORA because they sound so close but the ORA is much smaller.

Hi-Thank you for your review. I would appreciate your opinion on the suitability of the Oras compared with the KEF LS11's for good quality and reliability when connected via USBC to a Mac. The Oras have height-adjustable stands, which is useful. What is never known is how long the speakers will last. However, the material with which the speakers are made may affect how long they are capable of playing HD sound and, of course, the quality of the electronics. Buying cheap does not always make sense. On a minor note, it appears that Ora's lacks Airpaly2 and Spotify connect capability. Thanks!
@HomeTheaterHobbyist
@HomeTheaterHobbyist 8 ай бұрын
I haven't tried the LS11s but based on my limited experience with KEF and Kanto........ I think the KEF's have a better quality/materials. I use the word 'think' because I have not opened a speaker from either manufacturer so I can't really speak about the internals or where they source their parts. The KEF just feels more "premium". I don't believe the ORA supports Airplay 2 or Spotify Connect.

@@HomeTheaterHobbyist@HomeTheaterHobbyist Many thanks for your input - I opted for the Oras, which are satisfactory and particularly good with female vocals and instrumentation if there are no low frequencies to contend with.

Yes, the Ora have a subwoofer out connection so you can connect a SB. I don't have one but I think it would sound very good with the ORA.

@@Xeltos oh there are many more differences than weight alone smarty pants. Monoprice have much more wattage to offer, bigger and heavier cabinet, larger woofer with larger magnet structure, more inputs on the back, and a remote. For $250.....$100 less than the Oras. Do you need any more help distinguishing that the monoprice speakers are much more of a better value?
@Xeltos
@Xeltos Жыл бұрын
@@ryanschipp8513 No i read your first comment, equating a speakers worth in weight is stupid was my point. A lousy thing to try and contend as the basis of your question. If you want people to take your advice seriously that's a dumb thing to start off with. You're comparing a smaller company to a much bigger one that can afford to sell generic parts and manufacture things at a lower price. The audience that would consider buying the ORA's are not the same that would ever see the Monoprice speakers you speak of. The ORA's aren't supposed to be big studio monitors or even medium studio monitors that's the whole point of them to be small and compact. The price you're quoting is also an on sale price, the MSRP is 450. It's almost like you saw these and said Oh i know a superior speaker for my use case so why would anyone buy these? You don't have to justify not buying something when it doesn't interest you in the first place. lmao But yes anyone that bothers to educate themselves before purchase might stumble upon the MM5R's, but for people that want small sleek studio monitors you'll definitely get people buying the ORA's just for aesthetic. Which you'd probly be surprised at how many people will pay significantly higher price tag for looks when they can't distinguish better sound after a certain point.
