I feel this was worth mentioning, because a lot of the conflict in MGS games where Solid Snake is the protagonist stems from Big Boss and Zero's conflict and how it was two ideologies causing a chain reaction upon the world. In MGS5, there is a tape where Zero does talked to Big Boss while he is in a coma. He tells him about how his path had lead him to lose control of the Patriots and how he has regrets. The two were good friends and Zero was nearing to being a vegetable, so Zero wished he was awake to tell him to stop. To warn him of the downfall they would take, if he had woken up things would be different. Big Boss probably learned this the hard way and after what Naomi had briefed him on he realized the world didn't need to change, they did. People inflict the world and the times change people, Big Boss didn't want to change, he chose that path back in Peace Walker. Big Boss couldn't understand the world around him, outside a soldier. When The Boss went to space during one of the hidden tapes you can find in Peace Walker, she went on how seeing the planet was life changing for her even if she failed the landing and was deemed a failure during that time because they were later compared to Russia. The Boss followed her ideals and beliefs regardless what the world thought but didn't force the world to see things her way. In the end, it's a war between Boomers.

As a plus, I think Big Boss telling Solid Snake to live as a man is good for his growth. It is a father telling a son to be better than him. Solid Snake was taking suicide mission after suicide mission in MGS4, just because he knew he was going to die. Big Boss at that point probably knew how much life should be cherished, how not every one should live and die as a soldier. I think a analysis on Solid Snake would be awesome. And maybe Ocelot because BOI did that man do a lot for Big Boss.

Then The Boss was simply a fence sitting pacifist holding on to the wishful thinking that the world would unite. If Zero and Big Boss are "boomers" then The Boss is the typical millennial idealogue, she wanted change but was not willing to fight for the change she seeked. If she truly believed in what she believed than she would have understood that power and the will to act is what shapes the times, thing's dont just get better, you have to take action to create the change and no change comes without sacrifice. Big Boss was closer to the nature of the times than any of the others because he understood human nature, he did not seek absolute power and control like Zero nor did he choose to sit back and allow his people to be erased by "the times". War, violence death and struggle are the laws of nature, the times is simply nature in motion. You either fight for life and "make your mark" or you accept death without purpose, human being's cannot live without purpose.

People were disappointed by the Venom Snake reveal because MGSV was meant to be Big Boss’ last step into villainy. But the fact he allowed Venom Snake to be used in such a way IS the final step. He used one of his men (who saved his life no less) as an unknowing tool, he could’ve called off Ocelot’s plan or been straight with Venom as soon as they escaped the Hospital. But he let it happen.

The boss' will might seem like inaction but she's the least bit inactive in her time as a soldier. It's speculative but instead of being an active or inactive party the boss seems more like she's reactive to whats going on around her so in turn the whole understanding of not actively changing the world for what you believe is to be better, but letting the current generation run it's course and reacting accordingly to what you believe in is her will. I guess to put it into perspective it's the difference between being a wall and letting a tennis ball bounce off of you back into the throwers hand or being the one who throws the ball without considering what the wall would like you to do. Big boss came back from the dead and he himself sees and feels, what venom snake or the boss felt in their times, how it is to have your will trampled upon on. His story and rise as a legend in the cold war was released to the public in mgs4 turning him into a hero. Instead of being allowed to die he's rebuilt like a mannequin with pieces of his son's, liquid and solidus. Ocelot, in a total mockery of both zero's and big boss' wills, flips the world on it's head and effectively forces big boss to come back at the expense of the lives of soldiers, civilians, and major players alike, himself included. Big boss taking all this into account and listening to naomi's recount of everything going on, most likely felt like taking action again and coming back to fight was the last thing he should do because if he did he wouldn't be in control, it wouldnt be his will he's fighting for, but the wills of those that believed in him. It's comparable to what venom snake was feeling after realizing he wasn't the real big boss. This is no longer a world where he belongs in and a long long time ago he should have died alone. To persist any further would make him a phantom of his old self, a demon, an old flame casting shadows, that should've been snuffed out by now.

I don't see how Ocelot betrayed big boss's will in any way considering he followed it to a t. Stopping the patriots was all for big boss and quite possibly his plan to begin with that Ocelot stops them in the result of his death. Ocelot literally stops the evil illuminati figures of the series and successfully completes this final mission for big boss

In Metal Gear Solid 4 the pmc's were carrying out Big Boss's Legacy to generate the war economy creating the demand for war and then supplying that demand to fuel his dream of a world where Soldiers would always have a place, but on a much larger scale. He literally was able to see his dream come 2 fruition just to realize this was not the bosses will. He saw how his dream brought the world to the brink of ruin and I think that made him question all of these decisions up until that point and then he realized he became what he hated &fought against.if you think of lives he's ruined look no further than Frank Jaeger, but a quote from Gray Fox "We're not just tools of the government " that has always resignated with me, but your analysis it makes more sense to me that was probably one of the lines Big Boss used when "recruiting" but then his men became just that tools of a government, tools of his government but at least they always fought for what they believed in. in Big Boss's final moments he decides to share some fatherly wisdom the kind of stuff you do to make sure that your kids don't make the same mistakes as you (and he definitely didn't want his son to make the same mistakes he did) which felt like coming full circle the same advice dr. Naomi Hunter gave Snake. " use the time left to live" but big boss expanded on that to me telling him " not just to live but to live as a man not as a soldier " you know because life is for the living naked spent his entire life as a soldier. After seeing the destruction his legacy brought forth he realize the world could use less soldiers

I think it is very simple actually. Because he finally _get it._ "I give my life, not for honor, but for you." It's not about romantic love. It's about _parental_ love. Remember, up until her death, The Boss never disclosure _anything_ about her _true_ motivation. She never alluded that it was a setup by CIA. She never alluded that nuking Tselinoyark was _not_ part of her (or CIA) plan. She did everything she could to antagonize Snake, but never outright tried to seriously harm him. She gone to town to Ocelot for making Snake blind. She was, in roundabout way, trying to save Snake. She's willing to be martyr, but only if Snake come out better. It's not until EVA told him everything that he finally knew. And he can't understand it, which understandable. He's recruited from Japanese Internment Camp to be trained to be soldier at young age. Being soldier that follows command and fight enemies and survived were all he knew. But The Boss is different. She gave birth to a son. She killed her husband for his son's life, which she never saw again, and never knew him. It's near impossible for her to not felt at least a bit maternal affection to Snake. It took a lot of death and regret, but he finally get it. The right way is to let Snake free and live. Just like what The Boss wanted him to be. It's too late for him, it's too late for Paz, it's too late for Eli. But it's not too late for David.

In MGS4, Snake comments that the War Economy is more or less a dream come true for Big Boss in which being a soldier is the norm. After being revived, Big Boss must have seen this new world that is supposed to be his dream only for that dream to be disappointment and not worth it. Seeing his dream turning out to be not what he wanted probably changed his worldview again and begins to reconsider what the Boss truly wanted for the world. While it has been a while since I’ve seen MGS4 and that Big Boss’ offscreen epiphany can be baffling, I do believe that this explanation is valid.

Could it be maybe he meant not holding on to old ideals that can prove to be self-destructive as the times change? Maybe he saw at the end, after everything he's ever done, in the pursuit of ideals you are capable of becomeing the thing you are trying to stop. Or it could be, that you should accept your fate at the end of it all. Eventually, no matter how hard you try (or how many nano machines son), you'll have to put down your gun. Either because you just aren't strong enough to fight or there wont be anyone to fight at the end. And all you can hope for is that you did your best with the time that you were given. Which would alien with the boss's final sacrifice. She knew what would be the best decision for her to make at the end of her life, for the sake of the world, so she took the opportunity willingly without resistance.

You have to look at the whole series. What were the two largest flaws, one of which you even covered, in both Zero and BB's plans in changing the world? They did it by trying to forcefully change People. We meet a lot of significant characters throughout MGS's run, all individuals with their own histories, aesthetics, character development (even post death!). Some mercenaries, some soldiers, some ordinary civilians, some great scumbags. The world is made of these kinds of people. And slowly, over time, good and bad, the world turns out better. Even if its the 4 steps forward, 10 steps back. The Joy found in Space the same thing, she found in her Cobras. A people, no matter the background, united, not because they worked to the same goal... But because they willfully supported each other, inspite of everything. Even when downed to political backstabbery. Solid Snake found the same thing. The truth that wasn't obvious to BB, SS found with ease: Through Otacon, through Meryl, though Sunny, Naomi, Jack, the Colonel, Everyone. But the way that BB and Zero tried to "Unite the World" would've destroyed everything. They did the exact same thing the Philosopher's did: Try to change the world by forcefully changing its people. They did it through manipulation, force, pulling the same tactics that would kidnap Joy's son and see her love murdered, mass murder bordering on genocide... The Joy, the Boss, in being manipulated, just as Solid Snake was manipulated by the Patriots and BB, developed the idea that you can't put your faith in those that'll do that to others. Because they try to change the Times. But the Times change, your Ally today may be your Enemy tomorrow and vice versa; your Enemy today may be your Ally tomorrow. The Times are fickle cruel things, and cannot abide by stasis. The best you can do is ensure that the People, the Persons you care about, are safe, and do the best you can. And those that believe in you will stay with you til the end. Because they are the ones who matter. The world has people like that, its too big to change by one's self, but you can do your best for those around you, and in turn, they will do their best for others. Dr. Strangelove was Joy's Otacon. The Joy and the Sorrow were like Jack and Rose. The Cobra Unit is similar to SS's support team and the Rat Patrol. Those that believed in the Joy did so because she believed in them back. Those that believed in Solid Snake did so because he believed in them back. Even when they messed up, even when they failed. The Boss's story is like Solid Snake's and vice versa. Big Boss was in the best position to see everything. Because like Snake, he did have that truth once, no matter how small or obvious. It was with the soldiers he tried to protect. in was in the friends he had: Kaz, Jaegar, Paz, Chico, Venom Snake, and so many others. He lost sight of that truth. But in his comatose state, forced with nothing but his memories for company... He found the Truth he had lost.
@syynoflaw4718
@syynoflaw4718 4 жыл бұрын
In this sense. It makes sense why Big Boss' story picks up after Solid Snake's. Because the Boss's legacy and life almost mirror SS's to a T. Big Boss's was the what-if. The tag along, the rookie, the close acquaintance, any number of people SS could've been close to, Hell, the Player themselves. And if they just saw their favorite character / mentor / Friend die? For seeming no reason? They'd wanna ensure that their will lived on, even if its distorted by their own visions. And the cycle would've continued.

I believe the truth big boss realized in the end is that war, conflict and the betrayal that came with it was a result of people and nations using military force to prevent the times from changing. Something big boss himself did with Zanzibar land. The truth he came to was to allow the world to change with the times and respect others wills while maintaining your own. He could have used his army nation to do things like clear mines or act as a conservation corps but big boss just couldn't see them existing without war.

Just want to point out that Big Boss doesn't use child soldier in mg2:ss, it is a common misconception but in game when when you talk to the childs, they tell you that they are forbidden to go to thé arsenal. No what happen is actually exactly the same thing, as in mgsV and mgs4 for Big mum... Bigboss rescue child soldier and orphan of War, take Care of them, but those child when they are old enough still want revenge for what happen to them and join bigboss's army. As for the World peace and Zanzibar being the only nuclear nation... let's remember the game is not the complete truth as it is, if i remember correctly, litteraly encoded by magnar as a way to transfer olyx, and some pretty huge info where missing like when bigboss told to solid snake he is his father, my guess is that something similar to the disarmament event happenned Big Boss stole every Nukes to ensure a World without nuke. After all in game no Nuke are to be seen. I also believe that if the World is at peace, it is just conflict between nation that stop, there are still War fought but proxy war through pmc not official war, it is more in Line with the War economy the patriot is supposedly building up at this point... at least since 84 where we see and take part in the very premises of that. I do believe you are right about bigboss drifting from wanting World peace to wanting to ensure the survival of Zanzibar, but not actively it is just a systemic consequence of the system he has built, not litteraly him enginneering conflict, more something along the Line of the moral of 4, even though he fight for peace it can't Never trully reach peace until Zanzibar or outher heaven exist, because conflict will cause pain, wich would cause resentment, which would cause more conflict... the exact system bigboss describe at the end of mg2:ss, thé only way out is what Big Boss told old snake in 4 accepting to finally drop the guns. Edit : i agree about him manipulating Venom and solid snake. Not about him hidding nuclear équipement though as it goes in contradiction with the disarmament event which seems to happen in V and mg2:ss, let's remenber that bigboss was still giving order to diamond dogs trough Ocelot and Miller, so the objectives of bigboss can't be that far off from our objective in v. My theory is that bigboss Always trully fought for peace, but the solution he Comes up to could Never have lead to that, as long as he refuse to stop fighting, thé World would Never achieve true peace because conflict breed conflict, that's why he need to accept and drop the guns and Ask his son to do so too in 4, that's the truth he realised in 4, and probably the truth of the boss too, borders are meaningless human construction that will change over time and has no reality outside of what we humans give them, therefore conflict over it is meaningless, and we should accept to drop the guns and résolve conflict not with weapons but with understanding and collaboration basicly, not exactly a fightless World since in such a World you would still have to fight those who want Wars, but it would more be diplomatics fight rather than full on wars. It might be utopist but thé only true solution toward World peace for the boss and bigboss, and therefore probably for kojima too.

I always assumed it was seeing the cost of his actions then realizing what he'd become in making the world change. Miller betrayed, Venom dead and teh world on fire. The Soldiers he'd set out to free from the manipulations of nations? Now,suffer the manipulations of Corporations. Each Army was a car to buy or sell, not fighting for what they believe in than the higher bidder then when they're broke, disposed of the same old way. Zero's dream of peace shattered by the executor's he'd put in charge, Big Boss' dream of soldiers being free, destroyed by the same system combined with the war economy he started. His legacy? His sons fighting over the world tearing it to pieces. The Boss' will always seem to be a recognition of human nature not being the best but acknowledging that everyone deserves their will respected and it's the struggle of Big Boss and Zero against one another's will masquerading as her will that leads the world to it. Big Boss didn't respect the Boss' will that effectively caused his fall into what he would become but upon seeing it all, what he'd bled for, what'd he'd killed for and betrayed ever moral he had once held? He recognizes that it wasn't just governments or people that did it, it was the inability to face the facts of time that the Boss ultimately lost her life to. It's been said that Solid Snake embodies the boss' will because he doesn't try to change the world, he does things like attempting to stop metal gears from being used by everyone but ultimately, he lets things go along as they will with it only being the patriots manipulations and that of his brother's getting him involved, he's lived the nightmare that was made by Big Boss himself. Snake's last act that is entirely his own simply is to give the world the choice to be itself again. The Boss' will was that the world is the world so large that time doesn't matter to it and that people should respect others and in their own because ultimately that will leave the world as is in the end and we see why this is from Zero and Big boss, they changed because of the times so soon idealists became revolutionaries, shadow dictators before either dying or being unable to maintain or correct their view because time waits for nobody. Big Boss' final act is ending the war between Zero and him then telling his once enemy to live his life in the peace he earned. He finally came to recognize Snake as his son rather than his enemy or just another Soldier he met on the battlefield in doing so he accepts that he isn't needed and that his ideal was wrong. Then he gives his final fight, he stands, salutes tries to enjoy his last cigar then passes away where it all started. Allowing the world to be whole again not with unity or peace but itself. That's my take but i can see why it's far from solid. Just found your channel, cool vids, this shit is dope

tbh I think he actually wanted to die as the villain. if the war had ended on a simple agreement it would have left tentions for the next generations to carry on which could flair up more conflict. not just that but he would be left with countless soldiers who know nothing but war and would be left to themselfes to survive the only way they know how by pillaging and fighting. but by letting himself be killed he allows a conclusive end. the next generation can start a new chapter knowing that the big bad no longer exists. maybe "the truth" is that when a conflict grows so big that no one person can understand it someone needs to carry all the blame for everyone to start over guilt free. even though reality is mostly grey most people can only see black and white and since neither boss nor big boss had a place in the new world they decided to be the scape goats.

In all honesty I think that the Boss' truth is a combination of inaction and action. We cannot stop change from happening no matter how hard we fight it, but some take the extreme route of wanting stop change from occurring. In my opinion, soldiers of all shapes and sizes are meant to fight against the end of change, against the end of life being able to live. The times may be unpredictable or heartbreaking, but at least we can be certain that they won't be like that forever.

I'd love to see an analysis on Ocelot, Kaz, or Venom snake. Because I think that they all each had big character archs and psychological changes throughout the times. For instance how Kaz was more upbeat and nice guy when you first get to know him but by the time of the phantom pain he was vengeance personified. Or how Ocelot went along with everything playing all sides as a triple agent that in the end lead to him getting possessed by liquid (somehow?) . Or Venom a high ranked medic in Big bosses army that was one of his most loyal soldiers who he turned into a literal walking talking puppet for his own gains until it was time for him to cut his strings and move to plan b.

The Boss sounded almost optimistic about the world's future before she died. Maybe her truth is that the world will be united one day all on its own and she didn't want to interfere with that. The Metal Gear games kind of pointed to this didn't they? The world attempts nuclear disarmament right before Big Boss comes and throws a metal gear into the picture. Maybe Big Boss realized that he was delaying 'the inevitable' in hindsight. It's not hard to look back on your life and see that you were just spinning your wheels and destroying everyone around you. On the other hand, the Metal Gear games have an insanely sugarcoated view of the world the games take place in while the Metal Gear Solid games flip this with a sugarcoated view of Big Boss since almost half of them are from his perspective.

What he saying sounds like Taoism. I'd recommend learning what Lao Tzu said about war and leadership. Focus on "respecting the will of others." He came to regret the violent, forceful manipulative b.s. that defined his Big Bossery. The times were growing past the need for soldiers, and HE should have learned to stop fighting and respect that and not trying to force the world to change according to his wants and needs. Now, you should "believe in your own will," and act accordingly, but to the best of your ability, try not to impose that on the rest of the world. The times will change like they do, but people who can't respect the will of others will fight and kill to reverse the course of the times or push it forward in a specific way. But HE needed to learn to respect the flow of history and stop fighting it. And for him, that means to find a way to live without LITERAL fighting. He didn't want his son to waste the life he had left trying to find something else to kill. He especially didn't want his son killing himself either. The Boss was fighting, ultimately, for the need to fight to become obsolete. Big Boss didn't understand that a soldier's obsolescence was ultimately the point. He wanted to be "a soldier" forever. What The Boss said about soldiers was correct, but perhaps... some day she or wouldn't have to be a soldier. She died, no longer being "The Boss" because Jack defeated her. She was at peace. She completed her mission as a soldier AND no longer had to be one. It's why "David" was an important part of "Snake's" story. "David" is how he can be something other than a soldier or commander of soldiers. Remember how The Boss kept referring to Naked Snake as "Jack." She wanted better for him, but at some point, "Snake" and then "Big Boss" overtook "Jack." He needed to learn to be something other than a soldier, but he didn't have the courage to change until it was too late.

Maybe...after seen what the world has become and how Zero has appropriate about everything he built, he understood that the times will clean up that mess. The times will forgive his actions and mistakes, and he understood that the Boss didn't really care about be remembered as a traitor, because she will be forgotten anyway, she was already forget as a hero, so Big Boss believes that in the end is about letting the world keep living and moving, let the times take care of themselves and not trying to fight against the future. But I dunno really XD great video as always, lad. Looking forward to a Venom Snake analysis 🐍 🐍

I think it might be about not forcing change in the world after all the boss could have taken the legacy money and tried forcing the world together but didn't where as both big boss and major zero tried to enact forced changes and ended up becoming what they fight against and performing similar actions to what they dispised.

However one thing that's stuck out in my head was how he became a warmonger because I need to fight to keep the peace head naturally come. once again I have not played any of the games and all of the information about them are from these two videos for me. At least to me the way you presented it reading the metal gear 2 intro stuff made it feel like it's natural progression. So following the whim of that natural progression would ultimately have been the best, It's what the boss did. She followed the whims and eventually a peace came from them.

I believe the Boss was THE perfect Soldier, and that is because of what the Boss believed in, Loyalty to the End. She was the ultimate soldier because she held no malice in battle, but joy. All that exists or should exist for a soldier, is the mission. I think everyone misinterpreted the Boss because they never truly understood why she completed her mission. She was a soldier, and that was her mission. It wasn't for others to think about, or philosophize on. It wasn't even for Snake to think about, it was her mission to die, and she completed it like a true Soldier would. Loyalty to the End. Snake >having feelings< for the Boss and trying to avenge her death - was the exact opposite of what the Boss taught Snake. Be detached, there is no "true" enemy, no real victory, no real defeat - just the mission. Snake fell from grace to become Big Boss because he couldn't move on with the times, and he couldn't NOT have feelings for his comrades.

This was a great video but I don't feel like you touch upon just how much of a life changing event the ground zeroes incident is for big boss. We see him falling down the road to villainy in peacewalker but ground zeroes is the true moment where he snaps. All throughout peacewalker as you said it's easy to miss how big boss is slowly becoming more villainous but each action he takes down this road is what leads him toward the ground zeroes incident. His encouraging of child soldiers causes chico to be put in danger and killed, his misinterpretation of the boss's will led to paz being sent by zero and being killed, and his use of nuclear weapons along with having a base made him an easy target for the full destruction of msf. The deaths of chico, paz, and all of msf was a tragedy that was only able to happen due to the multitude of poor decisions he made but rather than suffering this guilt he doubles down and goes into full denial over his actions believing himself to be just. In the end while venom snake was able to overcome his grief and revenge big boss never even got past the denial phase

He still doesnt understand it but nothing he did had to do with that. It only had to do with grief. Like the line from castlevania "we are witnessing the worlds most protracted suicide note" all the boss did was make the globe deal with his issues while processing the stages of grief starting with anger and ending with acceptance. Acceptance that he was wrong that he cant change a god damn thing. Big boss wasnt a great man or a god he was a deeply broken and tragic man more akin to a Greek tragedy than anything else. A man brought low by his actions forced to capitulate to the will of the gods in the end

I'm glad to find someone else who shares my support for Venom. He's my favorite of this whole messed up family. What a shame he only appears as himself in a game that is blatantly unfinished. Regarding the Boss? Big Boss doesn't understand her perspective, not at the end or at any point in his life. No one in the story does. They only see the legend, not the real person. I think the reason the Boss does what she does has nothing to do with philosophy, patriotism, loyalty or anything else she says. Ignore what she says. Ignore her lectures, her rhetoric, and look at what she actually DOES and what we're shown about her actions' impact on her. In the end, it's all about what happened in tselinoyarsk the first time she went there. The Philosophers made her kill the Sorrow, under the threat of killing Adam (Ocelot). From that moment, her true perspective is, "I have to obey or else they kill my boy. I have to obey or else the Sorrow died for nothing. Even worse, if I do disobey and still save Ocelot? Then I have to live with the guilt of having killed the Sorrow for nothing." The Boss's legend is much larger than the reality. I have no doubt she earned her legend in the 40s, but after what the Philosophers pushed her into? She's a broken woman, desperately trying to keep her son alive and avoid the guilt of having killed the love of her life. She'll lie, kill, seemingly betray her country, ACTUALLY betray her Cobras to their deaths and walk to her own death, because if she doesn't, her beloved little boy dies and she murdered her love for nothing. She's not a philosophical character by the time we meet her, if ever she was one. She's a mother trying to save her boy and make sure her beloved didn't die in vain. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yup, she never meant to have Naked Snake knows about her true reason. Up until her death, she played her antagonism to USA as reason for her defect. It's not until EVA told him that he knew. And it broke him. And Boss, trained him since his early teenage year, guessed correctly. He can't handle it. He's too simple for his own good. If he knows earlier, he would also defect to her side and maybe gave CIA a middle finger using Russian nukes straight to Langley if he can make it work.

I think in his dying moments, Big Boss was just scraping for anything to give himself closure. Some kind of moral to make up for his miserable wasted life. At the same time, I think he wanted to tell David what he think he needed to hear and he frankly had no time to do it. So in the heat of the moment he tried to mixed them together. He wanted to both give his respects to his mentor and feel like despite his losses he was at least able to understand a part of what she believed in, and at the same time give his Son a reason to live his life. Not as just a soldier, but as a man. Also I think he just wanted to look cool as he died. I think at the end he was also a bit like Yuji’s grandfather in Jujutsu Kaisen. He lived a hard life, and it made him very bitter. If he did nothing he was just gonna die alone with nothing to show for the life he lived. So he decided to wrap things up by killing Zero, saving his last surviving son, and paying his final respects to his mentor all at the same time. All while enjoying one last Cigar. In the End the best he could do was plan how he wanted to die with as minimal regrets as possible.

I think the boss' reasoning for laying down her life for her country despite being used to prove her country's innocence is in one way showing that she knew that naked snake was going to be the person that kills her and that she is letting the current generation run its course and hoping they can come to an era of peace in the future even if she was going to be branded a war criminal and i think big boss finally comes to that conclusion and thats why he does what he does in MGS4 and says what he says as he has finally found the meaning of her death and why she chose to do that despite her existence in the military been wiped and not remembered as a hero but putting the will of others into perspective and respecting what they do and coming to terms with that. That's my perspective anyway 😄😄.

Kojima did a great job at forging a villain from a sympathetic character. Big Boss isn’t just some evil bad guy. He’s incredibly complex and I don’t know whether or not to dislike him. He’s incredibly human. Part of me wishes they would’ve did Darth Vader like this. The two characters have some similarities in where they come from. But in my eyes Big Boss was presented in a much more realistic, emotional way.

Sadly that conclusion was a last-minute tack on. Also, it is a little reflective on Solids last speech to Raiden about him, Liquid, Ocelot and all the others destroyed the world and made people like Raiden lives a living hell and then the climactic showdown between the Snake and Ocelot as you walk through the war that is Metal Gear this last-minute conclusion is more predicated on the context of Metal Gear Solid 4 the game and less on Big Boss as his story at that point was largely unwritten. Also, do a vid on Venom Snake it is the biggest brain scramble ever. Also, Also, do a vid on Raiden.

Hoo-ah! An upload! Edit: This relates to what I was saying about Dante and Vergil in your Nero analysis video. But in Big Boss's case, he didn't really have anyone he truly cared about, besides the Original Boss. When he killed the only person that he cared about, it was there that his mind had broken. As time went on, Big Boss could only survive on what he knew his entire life: Conflict. Him, and all of his followers, have not known the feeling of living in peace. And though they fight for the ones that fight with them, they do not know of fighting for the people that they truly cherish. While Big Boss's "Cause" can be justified, as he is saving the soldiers who, like him, only know conflict, as you said here, it is the issue of adjusting to the changing times. Dante and Vergil had Nero, who gave them a new reason to fight; not each other, but for another. This just re-affirms for Dante, but Vergil has a new motivation that can keep him going for a long time. I'm pretty sure they see themselves in Nero, as Big Boss sees himself in Solid Snake. And when Big Boss visits Solid Snake, he must've understood how Snake had lived his own life, similar to his own, but with something different. I think what the Boss was trying to convey was that over the years, the world will realize that these wars will become null; void of meaning, as sacrificing many soldiers' lives for the ideals of the few that are higher up won't amount to much good in the future. And so, the world will change its ways, for a more peaceful world. I think Raiden's "what-if" story in Revengence is a great example of wanting to end conflict throughout the world. Teach the war-torn orphans about love and peace, not hate and conflict. You, as the soldier, must fight, so that they don't have to. No matter how many trouble-makers appear, no matter how long it takes, you keep on fighting, 'till your last breath. TL; DR: Taken from Revengence(Kinda): "How much longer will men fight for causes that is not even their own in the first place; that they don't even understand?" They'll think of it as a shared ideal, but can they stick to it in the long run?

I think Big Boss came to his conclusion in a fairly simple manner. He was just a desperate man trying to find answers to an insolvable problem. He didn't really have an answer, and everything he'd done beforehand just didn't work, so he probably came to some sort of conclusion that it just wasn't ever going to work, turning despair that he already felt into hardcore determination into figuring a new solution. Regardless of how much it fought against his, and in a funny way, The Boss' own logic. That's just my thought on the matter anyway.

Sounds a bit like her philosophy is in tandum with stoic philosophy. Someone else already said it but it's reactive. She can't control the times. She can't control other's beliefs. But she can control herself. She can control her beliefs. The world is as the world is. You shouldn't be inactive as that's just pessimistic. But you shouldn't be like big boss trying to make the world bend to your will. Both outcomes lead to major suffering. Wether world wide or even locally and among friends. The Boss' belief then seems to just be to ride it out. Do what you can to do what's right but never ever impose yout will on someone else.

Basically the top governments of the world not being at war or not being very close to war doesn’t really mean anything. Why? There’s dozens of other countries out there that would still be having warfare and war still can break out between big governments, like look at Russia and the Ukraine.

The truth equals facts so maybe your/my truth can be supported by facts but they are still not “the truth”. So the boss’ truth is just her opinion on how the world should be and big boss and zeros truths were warped versions of her opinion of how the world should be. That’s my take at least. As for how big boss came up with leaving the world as it is I have no clue where he came up with that.

When you said that venom is a better big boss than the original I was like what?? But now I think I know what you mean that he kept the more heroic side of the big boss legend alive while the real one was becoming more villain like and going against everything he fought for, for example venom rescued child soldiers for rehabilitation because they where becoming an eye sore on the battlefield cause they don't kill kids and they wanted those kids to not have a life behind a gun while the real big boss did the opposite

Be Honest, You waited this long Just to make that joke in the intro right? I don't understand why do you call Solid snake his son? We all know he was piss when he finally discovered Le Infantes terrible project was already years ahead, i don't remember when he discovered this, but he took is another betrayal and he is right. Father is the one Who Rise the children, not the blood related one that was never there. So Big Boss has No sons, If any Solid liquid and Solidus are Brothers of Big boss. Solid Snake coming on top is actually Hilarious, after all he is a CLONE of the Legend Itself, sure he was the weakest clone and Yet Time and time again Solid Snake came "victorious" every time. (MGS 2 might be the exception) Seriously Big Boss character is Fascinating but MGS4 was a mess. BTW Solid Snake only Fought big boss Once and that was in Metal gear 2 Solid snake. As for the boss legacy, Is Impossible. Zero and Big Boss wasted their life trying to understand The Boss Sacrifice and Look at them, to be honest i See the boss sacrifice as like the games says, the ultimate sacrifice and this is what in my eyes makes THE BOSS the superior SOLDIER over Big Boss, to her nothing was more important than the mission. Mind You I said SUPERIOR SOLDIER. Big boss is no soldier, he is a legend, a war crimina, a mentor, a "Father", the most dangerou man to ever live in the MGS Universe, A wormonger but a Soldier? He stopped being a soldier after Operation Snake Eater. The reason why Solid Snake don't drop his gun when he sees Big boss on the cemetery is the logical answer, he is not his father, he is probably the greatest enemy he has ever face, he had no reason to drop his gun and he didn't.
