If we go to school 8 hours a day, roughly 275 days a year (since summer break often varies a few days) for 12 years, it’s as simple as multiplying 8 x 275 x 12 to get 26,400 hours, then divide by 24, then 30 to get 36.66666... months. Which is 3 years and 18 days.

Fun Fact: Austin lives within 300 miles of Tuttle, Oklahoma because he is seen drinking out of a Braum's coffee cup in the beginning of the video. The reason why I say 300 miles is because the Braum's company policy is that they can't go over 300 miles from their farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma to ensure freshness of their food.

Yeah, about the test... The test will measure whether you are an informed, engaged, and productive citizen of the world, and it will take place in schools and bars and hospitals and dorm rooms and in places of worship. You will be tested on first dates, in job interviews, while watching football, and while scrolling through your Twitter feed. The test will judge your ability to think about things other than celebrity marriages, whether you’ll be easily persuaded by empty political rhetoric, and whether you’ll be able to place your life and your community in a broader context. The test will last your entire life, and it will be comprised of the millions of decisions that, when taken together, will make your life yours. And everything, everything, will be on it.

Winter semester of 1983 I worked at the Limnology Lab at Michigan State University as a part of my work study. I worked the team that was studying the aquatic plants in the Saint Mary's River, which is the natural water course between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. The study was to determine how detrimental further reductions in water flow was to the river as part of a proposed increase in water flow through the Sault Saint Marie canal or the Soo Locks. I divided my time between weighing samples of plants collected before and after they were incinerated and doing the calculations of what those differences mean. No idea what the result of the study was. The building was right next to Red Cedar River. I actually had a subbasement. Said subbasement was very damp. Alas the building is no longer there. 1987 to 1989 I taught at Eureka High School, the high school that residents of Times Beach had previously attended. I heard all the details of what happened, how it happened, and how as well as why it was discovered. When I moved away in 1993 the EPA had finally gotten permission to build an incinerator at Times Beach to rid the area of the toxins. It took the EPA years to get permission not because of the clean up of Times Beach but because they planned to truck in toxins from other sites all around the mid-west US and continue to incinerate for 30 years. Incinerating the toxins at Times Beach was only going to take a year.
