it has been confirmed that season 2 will cover the jeju island arc. (I don't know if that means they will cover the entire arc or just the beginning of it, so we will have to see)

Yea, i saw that info as well, but given how many chapters there are before Jeju Island (and they cant really skip anything - all important) i don't see how would they fit it into a single cour season. I was rereading manhwa before s2 and looking at how many chapters they covered per episode (while adding some anime only scenes) I concluded they would probably end s2 with demon boss and the thing just after it. But to be fair, the whole jeju island arc is not terribly long either, you could fit it in 2 episodes probably. Narratively it would 100% make sense to end the season with HIM.

@Chalo122790 no since the jeju island arc ends at chapter 105-107(final chapters of the arc) and the anime’s current pacing is abt 5 chapters per episode. This season started at ch 45-46 which means that in 13 episodes (the s2 will be 13 ep) they can cover up to chapter 110.

@@Cyrsztof This season’s pacing seams to be a bit faster. As we know from the first two episodes (which were released with the movie), the pacing seams to be abt 5 chapters per episode. If they keep that pacing they can cover up to chapter 110 sinse this season will have 13 episodes. The jeju island arc ends at about chapter 107 so i don’t really know how or if they will mangae to fit everything without it feeling rushed.

I liked the start of the new season/cour. I've re-read the web version a couple of times and gotta say I like the (very slight) changes the anime has made. It's handling the combats so well, the cinematography/camera is very impressive in them. It has a great soundtrack. The manwha art was amazing but in some ways it's easier to see what's going on in the anime. I look forward to your seasonal posts on this.

⁠​⁠​⁠ You’re correct. It was mentioned in the Manhwa and LN and probably the anime as well. I did find the LN passage that mentions it but am too lazy to check the Manhwa and Anime. Here it is: While it was rare nowadays, what with the hunter system being so well established, sometimes a gate materialized in an out-of-the-way location and wouldn’t be discovered until it was too late. Whenever that happened, the nearest army base would respond until hunters could arrive on the scene. *Unfortunately, soldiers’ weapons have no effect on magic beasts,* but they had to be prepared to make some sacrifices in order to give civilians a chance to escape safely.

@@Loooooong0 I didn't get the sense the OP was talking about bog standard military hardware. If you made guns and bombs etc out of materials from a dungeon then it doesn't seem like it would be a "normal weapon"

@@7heTexanRebel I see... Well, mana would be harmful to people who don’t have it. The eternal sleeping disease is said to be caused by the overexposure to mana. Magic crystals contain mana so any equipment made with it is unsafe for any normal human. The show never considers the idea of creating weapons with magic crystals, so it never says that this is the reason it wouldn’t be possible. It’s just why I think the idea wouldn’t be possible.

After season 1 ending, I read like one chapter of what going happened and it so good and this season only got 12 episode. and what I probably do it the same what I did in seaosn 1 by I watch like one or two episode and then let couple episode come out and then bingle watch it, that it was hard those cause everywhere people was spoil it, I even stop watch AniNews and other channel so I won't spoil myself and once I fininsh the seaosn, then I watch AniNews and other to watch it

Something I never thought about. Does the series actually elaborate why only hunters can feld monsters? At the end of the day mana is utilized in two basic forms for hunters. One is of course it gives them access to magic and skills. The 2nd is enough mana boosts your physical attributes so anyone above E are effectively peak humans at D to superhuman at S. I guess the third factor would be it allows one to ulitize equipment powered by mana. But here in the real world we have access to stuff that would be 100% capable of defeating monsters. A human armed with a gun should be enough to defeat low level monsters with high artillery being about to take out much more resilliant enemies if you can hit them. I dunno. This isn't like NGE where the reason why the military is unsuccessful is because angels have an extraparanormal force that blocks all conventional damage but even then overwhelming significant force can shatter it if only temporarily.

2:00 as you can see even low level monsters can overcome the military I think only attacks with mana can damage them Also hunters turns all the loot from the dungeon to some medieval type weapons and armor it's obvious the author isn't interested in your point there's adventure with dark ages style and dungeon in the modern world

As someone that read a decent chunk of the manhwa, I think it's an okay/good shonen. As a story, it's unfortunately pretty boring. You can get through the story without remember 9/10 of people's names. I am not kidding... Most people do not have great characterization. I could sunmarize almost 90% of each character introduced as one of two categories: Fodder, or Someone that says " _GASP_ Oh my God, he's SO COOL! LOOK HOW COOL IS HE, YOU GUYS! WOW!!!" Now, there's nothing wrong with the occasional knob slobbering. I enjoy a little bit of that myself. But to have almost every, single, person, just glazing on the MC and nothing else is boring. They're not even interesting people! Seriously, read ahead and go through without paying attention to the character names. I can ASSURE you that it will make little difference. More subjective take: I personally feel that the story beats become painfully repetitive too. Many of the scenes tend to be like: Oh this nothing character gets eliminated or is in trouble. Other people either prep for battle or are in the battle and wondering if they'll make it. Then someone either talks about (or magically notices) how Jinwoo is special and glazes over him. He does some little flex. Oh God wow look he's impressing everyone! Wow guys! The glazing continues until the character looks like a white donut. Next scene. I hate to say it, but this lack of character depth is worse than SAO. I dont particularly like Sword Art Online, but at least that show tries to give many of its characters at least SOME semblance of a personality I know this may be an unpopular opinion, and I don't think that there's anything wrong with liking the story, or the show. I mean, I read ahead during the beginning of season 1 because it had so much promise. I'm just disappointed because many of the cool possible things they could have done with the story don't really happen. Nothing really interesting happens after what will likely happen in Season 2 (and even that was just okay to read) Maybe part of it is because the author made it a little too much of a power fantasy, without really working on anything else. Many shows like One Punch Man and Overlord have basically unstoppable people, but they keep the story more entertaining by giving some depth to the people and the world around them. This show consistently fails to do that

Here's to hoping the anime adapts people better than the Manwa did. 🤷‍♂️ Especially as the other shows you mentioned SOA (season 1 only).... are all legendary shows to watch for power fantasy. This shows scratches that "itch". So... I hope it succeeds. As shield hero was that for my season 1.... but then season 2 and 3 flopped for me 😔 Appreciate the review though

The manhwa was popular so I'm sure it'll still be ranked well in anime lists no matter what, but I think it would be nice if they made the other characters more fleshed out and easier to care about
