Water is a moisturizer. Oil is a sealer. Oil seals moisture in. Water is H2O. Two oxygen atoms and one Hydrogen atom. The reason there is an -ate at the end of hydrate is because oxygen is present. So the word hydrate in itself comes from WATER. Just a little education. Chemistry was one of my favorite subjects. And I do understand that it is good practice to seal water with something oily but I wouldn't want other people to hear this and believe that water is not hydrating when it is the reason the words hydrate and hydration exist.

I was wondering about that statement also. I typically spritz water with a bit of essential oil mixed for scent and then use jojoba to help sealing that moisture.
@cjaygoa48366 жыл бұрын
Water H2O is actually 2 hydrogen atoms & 1 oxygen atom. The 2 represents the hydrogen, oxygen stands alone and is understood as 1 atom.

His client's hair is always amazing...healthy and they never lose locs!!! He MUST be doing something right... his clients too... water gets the hair wet, it does not keep it MOISTURIZED... once the water dries, it's just dry...adding oil will keep the hair and scalp moist/hydrated after the water dries... it really does makes so much sense...

All I spray on my hair is water, my locks don't crack or break like they use to. I spray them at least once a day so water is doing some kind if moisturizing. I also have tried many oils for my dandruff and when I started using coconut oil It left all of a sudden. I also use beeswax when I twist. I have zero breakage and buildup. I have had locks for 20 years, and yes I do condition my locks. You need to wash the conditioner out under water longer.

Dreadlocks has been around for centuries among the Asian African traditional herbal priestess and priest and other race as well....there was nothing there for them to even put in their hair yet I knew and was told by my great grand parents that their hair was long and beautiful...In recent years people think that they are the gurus of locs and that there was a documented way in taking care of your locs....The type of hair texture,colour,density is all due to our genes, way of life,weather and other environmental factors....So there is no magic cream and oil that will make your hair look identical to another person...Is just hair which grows so ladies and gentlemen stop wasting your money on products and stylist which pollute the earth and waste your time respectively...

Water is moisture. It just drys up like the Most High intended. You have to seal your hair with a thick oil or grease (I'm not loced) Also, you must keep watering your hair. Put water based products.on it as well so it can constantly be getting moisture.

Beautifully Mastered I did a comparison and realized the earlier formula was more moisturizing. The Cantu daily moisturizer was good. But now it dries my high-po hair completely out. So now I'm on a new natural kick. I can't add cantu to my locks. So I'm ready to do some more products and come up with a good mix. I'll be trying marshmallow root, flax, rosewater, aloe vera, and some oils. It'll be a gel oil moisturizer that will suck into the hair shaft and keep moisture in my strands. The only thing I keep from Cantu is their empty containers.

I believe the first stylist with a large following that claims to not use conditioner is Yannie The Locologist. She is very earthy or a purist. She doesn’t advocate a lot of product use. However, I now use a oatmeal protein conditioner in my regimen. I also plan to drink more water and add rose water in between washes. My hair is dry and my daughters also have dry hair. I think we don’t drink enough water. Which will change. I hope to get a consultation the next time Damian is in NYC.
