I saw this movie when I was very young. It started my lifelong love for classical music. So great to see it again.

Thank you. That was great to see again. Quite moving too (even if George Sand was ridiculously villianized!). Paul Muni really was one of the first great chameleonic screen actors. Incredible range. Truly one of the all time greats. A travesty so few people remember him today.

Fabulous performance. Love his music. I understand his friend and his professor, but in a way his lover was right. Nothing could possible replace his life, but there's no greater love, than a friend giving his life for another one.

This to some extent illustrates the enlightenment of French society in the first half of the 19th century, Liszt's introduction of Chopin, and French society's compliments and respect for outstanding artists, unlike Eastern society which has always intimidated and attacked intellectuals.

Those who manipulate others , do so wickedly, a most vile behaviour. No one should do this. Every man is born free. God calls an accounting to each of us. 🇬🇧 1:39:35

This movie is entertaining, but highly fictionalized. There is a Polish movie called Chopin Desire for Love that is a more complete and accurate biography. There is an English language version of that movie on KZbin.

Yeah, I can't take the happy go lucky behavior; the cutesiness of it all !! Maybe if I'd seen it as a child..But I think I'll leave it at the piano store scene !!

PS. I found Chopin Desire for Love and it has English closed captioning. He's fleeing Poland. So far so good..Thanks,..looks much more realistic...

This ecranisation is better. SHOPIN _s desire for love! Oh my God. Everyone knows all mens love desires usual end:poor George Sand. She was broken, thay never say the truth.Even Chopin and List were cruel to women_those two amazing persons.Thay both could love ,feel incredible passion ,but never find their loves .Liszt said:music saved me from myself and love .and God saved me from music ...
