With commercials? Thank you! I was a year and a half old when this aired.

I was 16 years old when this was televised. Years later I did get to see Kenny Rogers Live in Las Vegas. We were so lucky because it was a smaller venue. Both my husband and I enjoyed his Perforances but his sense of humor throughout the Show was great! One of my favorite memories.

This was the year I fell in love with Kenny’s music. I was 9 years old and bought his album with my own money, my first ever. I’m 51 now and still love Kenny. This sweet music man will be so missed.

I had his greatest hits that came out in 1981. The family got some more albums of Kenny. I wore out the record player. I was little. The needle broke and speakers went out. Vinyl was something else. I even recall the scratched records skipping. Also funny the album was supposedly bought thru Columbia House. Pops was member.

So nice to watch this time capsuile back into the year that I graduated from high school. It's nothing special, but in it's ordinaryness are so many beautiful gold nuggets. I did not know that Kenny was from Crocket Tx and really enjoyed all of the hometown cameos in this special, along with the old commercials.

I remember Kenny coming to Crockett when I was a kid. He would park his tour bus up on the square. It was so cool to see this video again.

This was a real joy to watch. Even the commercials were enjoyable (not sure about seeing Connie Chung pop up though, LOL). I saw Kenny in concert only once. This was in 84'', and the Oak Ridge Boys were also with him, along with the Righteous Brothers. He know how to put on a show. Thanks for posting this. RIP, Gambler, you are missed.

Garth, I'm sorry but when I clicked on this I didn't realize you had uploaded it, so again I'm going to say THANK YOU!! Starting off with Sweet Music Man really gets to my heart. He may not have considered himself a songwriter, but he did a great job with that one. Garth, have you seen the videos with Kenny and Lionel Richie with the story of how their friendship started? If not, I'll be happy to find you the link. I'm going to subscribe to you, so I hope you have more of Kenny!!!

@@RoadieGarth That is so cool!!!! Thanks for your reply, you made me smile!! That video when Kenny is telling about Lionel being in the toilet writing the 2nd verse of Lady, just had me rolling on the floor as I pictured it happening. Then Lionel stood up and turned to that entire place, nodding his head with a smile like a chessy cat grinning. I can't thank you enough for sharing that story, it's priceless. Then to see both of their faces light up when they look at each other, half laughing, half singing. If only we all had a friendship as priceless as that.

I don't know/remember the name, but it was an art director at United Artists Records with input from Ken Kragen and Kenny Rogers. It should be listed on the back credits of the Kenny Rogers (album).

I do but it hasn't been converted from Betamax yet. I'll get to it one of these days. It was a lot of fun. The night I met James Garner. If you look at my other videos, I do have the Mac and Kenny duet from that special. Thanks for asking!

Bill, this is very old tape. It’s not uncommon for the audio and video to slip out of sync. It can also happen if your internet connection is wonky.
