In today's video I review (spoiler-free, no spoilers) the prequel film 'A Quiet Place: Day One' -- the film is FINE but nothing to write home about... I hope this helped you make a decision on whether or not to go spend money seeing the movie. Enjoy!

Could have been a great emotional suspense on human connection amongst a crumbling world if not in A Quiet Place. Also the cat not acting like any animal would took me out

perfect explanation. But, like many others, I wanted a real day one detailed experience of how it progressed. Aliens landing, large scale battle with military and people fighting back and losing, how they figured out to be quiet and the full process of that discovery, more involvement of more people. What I got was basically the exact same as the other movies but two people with a cat vs a family with a baby. Not at all what the trailer led me to believe (not to mention Djimon was basically a cameo).

I didn’t love it as much as Part 1 or 2 but as a survival thriller with aliens, I really enjoyed my time. The characters were enjoyable and Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn were excellent together. Great review

When I heard there's a cat protagonist I was in. Going to see it next week. I just completed the video game "Stray" a few months ago and loved it. And of course I loved the first movie.

This wasn't the day one story I was expecting. I was left with most of my questions from the first two movies regarding the aliens still unanswered. I enjoyed the acting, including that of the cat (played by two cats), as well as the use of both sound and quiet during the film. It was a decent movie. Just not the best origin (Day One) for the premise of franchise. I really enjoyed the first two movies. I agree that if this one had been released first, we probably wouldn't have gotten two more theatrical movies. I watched this video after having seen the movie. You did a good job of giving your opinions without spoilers. Cheers.

Great video - thank you! Can't take a movie monster seriously when they have the most obvious weaknesses that would quickly become apparent allowing them to be defeated easily. 1) they can't swim. 2) they blindly attack sound.... just put a boat at a distance from water - start shouting or turn on a device making noise and wait... Walking dead kind of hinted at this kind of an issue when they showed it during the Alexandria attack when the zombies were blindly attracted to fire - but it was never followed up on. BTW - if you can find some way to work your Butcher impression in any of your videos - do it - it's fantastic.

good points, but (SPOILER)... the creatures somehow figured out to avoid water as we see them chasing the guy as he jumps off the pier to swim for the boat (which was sounding it's horn) and they stop at the edge and did not follow him into the river.

@@rbz1 It's been a while - but doesn't one drown shortly afterwards? But even if true - then seems like that's also a weakness that could be exploited considering there's no indication they use sound like Daredevil. Or likewise - modify my original design to be a sound lure with a water based trap door that dumps them in the water... It's not perfect - but the driving thing that makes them seem so tough is that they can't be harmed - so once you figure out they can drown - we can figure out how to exploit it. I really do appreciate the conversation.
@rbz1
@rbz1 Ай бұрын
@@Amazingsloth lol, nice Daredevil reference! I'm not sure what made them all suddenly stop chasing him once he jumped in the water after following the couple into water earlier, maybe some hive mind communication? They all just seemed to stalk along the shoreline. Actually I didn't think of designing something where they wouldn' be aware of the water until it's too late, which is brilliant. Maybe like a collapsing bridge (like reverse drawbridge) to lure them on, that can be elevated repeatedly. They can be hurt as we saw the mom shotgun one to the face in the first movie, BUT the face was open due to the frequency sound being played. I bet normall folks could think of many clever ways to take them out, unlike most movies that just choose to dumb luck their way through everything.

Strange, huge range of mixed reviews on this one. I mean “Quiet Place” lost me in the first one when the conceit of the whole “stay quiet” thing and the timeline didn’t make sense, but I enjoyed it. The second lost me completely. But I’ve seen some reviews that loved it. 🤷🏻😂

@@UrbanMediaReviewNo, the time jumps didn’t bother me. The timeline does. For example, in the first movie they had a bunch of newspaper clippings about the invasion. But we saw in the second movie, who the HELL was still printing and delivering newspapers during that? It’s very silly.

I think its just unnecessary... Their exact arrival could have just been left unknown.. like u said.. if this was released first it wouldn't do good.. the scares came from the unknown.. we didn't know how big or fast or what they even looked like for majority of thee first quiet place.

Thats a terrible way to look at things, it’s just a black girl and a white dude as the lead characters. Not that deep. Especially in NYC, a very diverse location. Lmao. I’m not saying I defend DEI casting but I’m also saying this film is not about that, and that wasn’t a major flaw.
