A Spontaneous Day Trip In XINGPING, GUILIN | CHINA 🇨🇳

Well, this was a very unexpected day! We planned on going to Guilin City and some rice terraces in the north of Yangshuo, but we ended up on a very spontaneous tour that was organised by our hotel! It’s safe to say that it was a worthwhile experience, and I’m glad I could bring you all along on this very unexpected journey to see some amazing places in Guilin.

I feel Yangshuo and those karst mountains are its best not when the skies are clear and blue, but with enough mist hovering among them yet still visible to give it that ethereal feel. The reflections of the peaks in the river are truly beautiful. I think somewhere in China you can find similar mountains but with the foothills awash with yellow rapeseed flowers. That bird you saw is the comorant, which is used to dive under water to catch fish. They can't swallow it because the owner has a way to control it.

The bamboo forest in Guilin is different from the bamboo forest in Sichuan and other regions. It is more like a Southeast Asian style bamboo forest.

5:32 The birds are trained to catch fish for the fisher. The fish it caught is squeezed out from its throat once surfaces. An old tradition but still exists mostly for tourism.

Pomelo is a bit similar to grapefruit but it taste sweeter, mild in flavor and not that bitter. The bird is called Cormorants. In the ancient times fishermen used them to catch fishes . They stopped this practices now but only use them for tourism purposes.

hope you can have a better weather, I found most of the days are cloudy..which makes the view not perfect, maybe you could visit the costal cities, like Xiamen or Fuzhou, the weather there is beatiful even in spring time

maybe u are not a foodie, but some people travel for food and only for food, there is an aussie couple who started a youtube vlog called almost landing, doing nothing but food tasting, for shanghai, there are many types of noodle and at least 7 types dumplings.... they went to shanghai for nothing but the food, it may be worth checking out, they have a website for that as well

braised pork again 🤣. interesting how brits don't like to eat chicken/duck with bone attached. I watched a couple other brit vloggers complain as well. next time forget the chopsticks and just use hands to eat around bones 😄. the taste is imo a lot better when cooked with bone attached. some amazing shots btw. that reflection is so clear!
