@GrowRoots234 ай бұрын
Thank you Amelia!! The tip for blue plumbago for her shade arbor is great! I'll let her know! I LOVE plumbago! There is a perennial plumbago called Plumbago Ceratostigma that blooms true blue and it is a groundcover. I have 4 of them and I LOVE them! I also love the annual plumbago as well.

We live in Houston and some people's containers and plants get stolen, so I can't put any in the front yard. But I do keep some in my fenced backyard. My struggle with containers is how much to water them.

Beautiful garden. I've heard so many bad things about HOA's., it made me neve to want to live in one. We live on 80 acres in WI, and, we can do exactly what we want, when we want and how we want and no one bothers us.
@GrowRoots235 ай бұрын
There are many Pros and Cons to HOAs, for sure! We have some awesome amenities, like a pool complex with two water slides and kiddie pools. We have an Adult only pool complex and another pool complex as well. We have many ponds, a lake, and many playgrounds for the kiddos; it truly is a beautiful and amazing place to live! We also have celebrations for 4th of July and Christmas that are truly spectacular! But yes, it is tough having an entity tell you what you can and cannot do; I totally agree! 80 acres in Wisconsin sounds AMAZING!! Definitely a dream of mine to live on acreage, maybe someday I will be able to retire and hopefully be able to afford it.
@estelleadamski3085 ай бұрын
@@GrowRoots23 U R so sweet to answer me back. I have no ideas about HOA only what I hear and it sounded bad. But the parks & pools & playgrounds sound nice. We live in a rural area of about 500 ppl. It's a hour to town. We are from CA, so it was hard at first. I will subscribe to your channel. I have 9 flower gardens here and they all have a different theme it's a lot of work, but, I love it.

Next to her veggie garden there was a purple shrub right under her window, what was that?
@GrowRoots234 ай бұрын
That is a great question! I looked at it, and Stacie can correct me if I'm wrong; but I think it's Lorapetalum or Nandina.
@CreationAppreciation4 ай бұрын
Yes, that is a loropetalum in front of the window. It is a dwarf that should get no more than 24" tall.
@Gardenmess8b4 ай бұрын
Diseases like rose rosette that can devastate entire areas is more so because of the mono culture from landscapers /developers. When a plant is well known to perform well it gets over used in the landscape. And when that happens disease can spread rampantly. So if everyone on the street has roses- good chance rose rosette pops up. So if you are making new beds consider other plants that aren’t prone to these mites that spread the disease so as to break the distance. We have rose rosette bad in our area too. It is sad because knock outs are such great performers.
@GrowRoots234 ай бұрын
That makes total sense! It is quite a shame, they are so beautiful and do so well except they are prone to RRD.
@Gardenmess8b4 ай бұрын
@@GrowRoots23 sadly I just noticed it in my double pink knock outs. I had a suspicion but now I’ve confirmed. 🥲 it really stinks to lose a great shrub but now I’ll have to figure what to replace them with. And I now have to move my hostas from behind them or else they will get fried. Such is the life of a garden.
@GrowRoots234 ай бұрын
@@Gardenmess8b I am so sorry!! You are right, such is the life of a garden! I try to think of it as an excuse to find an alternative and get a new plant!! Hmm, something evergreen or at least a plant that leafs out early in spring would be great for that spot since you need it to have height and shade your hostas. Spirea is a flowering shrub that will leaf out early! You just need to pick a larger variety as some of them can be on the smaller side. An Oakleaf Hydrangea would be a good choice if you get afternoon shade! You could also try a Buddleia, a dwarf Vitex, an Abelia, or a dwarf or bushy variety of Crape Myrtle!

Hydrangeas are SUFFERING!!....Need iron, they are yellow
@GrowRoots235 ай бұрын
This is very common here in North Texas for Hydrangeas planted in our clay soil. I actually thought they looked pretty good after the rain we've had that washed away a lot of the nutrients in the soil. 😊 Yes they probably would love a dose of liquid iron. I just gave mine another round too!
