Hi Mick, you made it look so easy 😂😂😂😂😂 no seriously you did an amazing job, the extra screws were because I’d ordered a set of screws and drivers that may as well of been made of candle wax, when I got it the seller had chewed off the heads of loads of screws, and I had to get them out with a pair of cutters, the rubber bit was off of a home button Vince sent me, as the shop that put the r/h joycon connector back on lost it, then found it a week later. The connector burnt out due to me getting a used one from a “repair shop” I pointed out when he passed it to me there was a black mark on it, he looked at it and said it was fine obviously it wasn’t, Sorry it was a nightmare I really am 😊 Have a great Christmas to you and all your family Kind regards Gary

Thanks mate, it was a little bit of a challenge as it was the first time I've looked at one. Oh I was wondering about the joycon connector as it looked melted so that explains it. Excellent repair. I have changed many of those connectors and they never get any easier. Only thing to mention is that the ribbon cable is supposed to run over the speaker on the daughter board where you have trapped it underneath. If you look at the speaker, there is a cable guide moulded into it. Karl

@20'43" you poke the flexible pcb power button with the rounded end of your tweezers. I messed up the other day by using the very square blunt end of a wooden skewer. Wish I had taken more care / used something softer/ more rounded as I ended up with a tiny dent in the springy dome of the switch that made it rather intermittent. Pressing a little bit harder when nothing appeared to be happening probably didn't help either.

Good recovery. Damn hard to rebuild something you didn't disassemble. I wouldn't call that an f up, an f up is when you just want to clean a video head and destroy a ribbon cable with a cotton bud (not that I have ever done that). I must be thick, I never understand the popup creatures (12:16).

@@gosurc1860 Sounds like something else has shorted down the line. You could put some IPA on the board and see where it evaporates first if you don't have a thermal camera or use one of those rosin flux vape type pens which would also show where the problem is.

*TIP* Cotton Tips or Cotton Buds need to be urgently replaced with an assortment of Toothbrushes, "Soft, Medium & Hard" Start by using a soft brush and finish up with a Kitchen Towel on the Area that needs to be cleaned further with a soft toothbrush on the paper towel, only ever use the hard Toothbrush on stubborn corrosion..
