Great video Steve. This Switch was 100% liquid damaged at some point, and probably why the trace was burnt on the ribbon. Also likely that the back-light was burnt out because of the high voltage it was subject to. What I tend to do sometimes is split the screen layers and replace just the back-light, and frankenstein 2 screens together to make one good screen. Works great if you're careful separating the screen 😁

Great video but I gotta ask. Knowing that the teal switches screen was the culprit, wouldn't it have been less work and less risk to just put the working components from to teal switch into the grey one? I understand that this is an instructional video, It just seems like a lot of unnecessary work at the risk of 2 broken switches. If you had a similar problem in the future would you do it differently now that you have this video out, showing how to replace the screen?
@Tronicsfix3 жыл бұрын
I'd do it exactly the same. The point wasn't to do a repair as fast or efficiently as possible. The point was to make a good video that people would want to watch. There are a number of things I would do differently with most of my videos if I was just fixing the device and not filming it for a video.

You took apart a fully functioning switch to put parts into a broken one? was the gray one defective??

The grey one may have looked fine but he mentioned it was faulty im guessing the whole motherboard on the grey switch was faulty so he could have either replaced the motherboard from the blue into the grey to have a fully functional grey switch or replace the screen from the grey one into the blue one which is what he did to have a fully working blue one. as I assume the blue one would sell faster than the grey due to it being more attractive with the colour of it.
