As a Umaine grad from commie mass these vids bring me the upmost joy. I put my name in for a moose tag the day I step foot on campus and I pray for the year I get drawn

Interesting that you are feeling optimistic about grouse down there. Here in eastern Ontario the population seems to have plummeted steeply over the last several years. On our 300 acres we can now walk the woods for a whole day and not flush a single grouse. They are simply not around nor do we see them the crossing the road anymore near our family cabin. Anyway, good to hear.

I would say my optimism is relative to last season. We had a horrible season last yr in Maine. This yr is definitely better. That's a bummer to hear about Ontario 😔

Ti's the season! I'm glad it's back. Deer starts tomorrow I got my bow ready and some nice bucks moving around my seat. I was seeing 30 to 40 birds a day it was great! Look forward to the next video as usual and hope all is well Paul and Mark!

Congratulations again on a great moose hunt. I enjoyed that video so much that I watched it twice to be sure I didn’t miss anything. Enjoy the meals you get out of that moose, looks like you will be eating good all winter. Best of luck during the rest of the hunting season.

How were the ticks on your moose? Our last moose was completely loaded with them.

I didn't see any.However, I didn't look really all that closely.

How bad was your moose infesred with ticks this year ?? I know there's been a heavy loss in the population because of ticks and winter kill ... Did the biologist mention anything about it ?
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
We didn't see any ticks, but didn't really look all that close. You're right they have done a number on the moose herd. This moose looked really good 👍
@danlovett3697Ай бұрын
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast Well, that's good to hear ! Don't know if you can call that natural attrition or not , but as your dad had mentioned during the podcast, the population as it was several years (decades) ago was unsustainable... We have had the same problem here in NH as well ... I see them while hunting , but nothing like it used to be ... Good luck to you and your dad this season , and good health to all ..
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
Thanks Dan! It's amazing how nature will correct itself sometimes. Good luck this fall!

In the last 5 years every moose I have recovered ( road kill ) has not had any ticks. I’ve seen 1 moose in that time live that was rubbing his coat because of ticks I would assume but I’d say that’s after seeing 50 moose in that time in different areas

What cigars do you enjoy after a successful hunt?

My favorite is Romeo Y Julieta 1875 Reserva Real. However, lately I’ve really been liking the Montecristo Robusto Larga 😁

Your daughter might be right eye dominant. If she is, it might be easier for her to shoot right handed.
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
That's a great thought! 😁 That's just what we did, we tried both, she doesn't feel comfortable right handed and is left eye dominant.
