As a Mexican i've found lots of similarities between Mexico and Nicaragua, for example 3/4ths of pre-Columbian Nicaragua was populated by post-Toltec Nahua indians that fled Mexico after the fall of Tollan. The 2 largest tribes in Nicaragua were Nahuatl-speakers the Nicarao tribe and the Nacahua tribe. Nicaragua is a corruption of "Nicanahua" which is Nahuatl for "here are the Nahuas" referring to the Nicarao and the Nacahua peoples. The Aztecs were Nahua people as well, Mesoamerican history is so fascinating Saludos a Nicaragua de una Mexicana 🇲🇽❤️🇳🇮

While not having a great ancient civilization like the Aztecs or the Maya, Nicaragua managed to pull through the tough challenges it faced. Next is the republic of Niger, which sits on the river of the same name. 🇳🇪

as a dude who lives there imma say it's kinda accurate, the "after 1960's governing part" is indeed truth since let's say the corruption of politics and others. Glad to see me smol country being mentioned tho, was a nice vid.

Thank you for the history lesson,and including the east coast history. That is where I was born. Lived most of my life in the USA. Nothing in my history lessons gave me any idea why I a little white girl had a history in that country. Very one spoke English, at the hospital, the stores the church our neighbors. I left in the early 50. I am sure that very thing has changed a lot since then.
@nicolemakropoulos982 жыл бұрын
There's a very strong case that the Nicarao (the largest Nahua tribe in Nicaragua) are descendants of the Toltecs. Mesoamerican scholars point to the Nicarao’s expertise in medicine (just like the Toltecs), the Nahuatl dialect the Nicarao spoke is the exact same the Toltec spoke, and there's religious and political similarities as well. In addition the timeframe of the Nicarao migrations in Nicaragua after the collapse of Tollan lines up almost perfectly, it is a very strong theory. The sad part is that these discoveries are not well known because everything east and south of Copan, Honduras is rarely talked about in Mesoamerica. I find it sad because I've always found Nicaragua and Costa Rica's part in Mesoamerican history really interesting, they're both remnants of advanced pre-Columbian civilizations in Mexico which makes it all the more fascinating.

100%. the country's history is one of the most romanticized ever. Also check out the Guatemalan indigenous genocide. Aided by the US and Israel. Or even the salvadorian civil war. Weapons funded by the U.S.

I lived here for 4 months in the early 2000s. Very good people and chill like you said. I was in the southern part near Costa Rica. The current ruler, Daniel Ortega, has been putting lots of his political opponents in jail and my uncle left the country. Too bad.

It's still a controversial take on the Nicaraguan government, because they don't do some of the shit other dictatorships around the world do, or at least, it's hard to confirm and make sure it's not misinformation.
