This video sure brought back memories, especially since owners of an icon bakery in S.A. having started our bakery in 1963, Mr. Nadler and I considered ourselves to be a part of the commotion, excited atmosphere and the anticipated grand opening of the Hilton Hotel. The city was all In an uproar of the upcoming fair! We were one bakery that supplied the Hilton Hotel with some of their bakery items to present in their dining rooms. The fact that the entire city appeared to be working in harmony so as to get the hotel built in time for the opening was something that was seen and felt by everyone, even those that were just spectators. If we remember correctly, all the rooms were built somewhere outside of the city by Zachary Construction Co. and they were all completely furnished as the cubicles were put in place floor by floor. This was a first for Zachary and what a job! It still stands today, just as beautiful as when it was completed and provides services as good and serviceable as if it were just yesterday that it was completed. We had a railway that ran across the fairgrounds that allowed everyone riding it to see the entire acreage. It brought so many new people that came to participate in hemisphere. Some are still in business today, such as Paesanos. Thank you, San Antonio, for all you have done to keep your icons at the forefront. We have much to thank the Hilton Hotel for. It was at this time that we were the bakery for the Hotel and it was this opportunity that pushed us forward and has allowed us to keep the "icon bakery status" to date.Hans and Minerva Nadler and Family

The footage of the hotel being built was during the World's Fair of 1968. We are not 100% positive, but we believe the video was also created shortly after the hotel was finished.
