That was quite a combination of challenges from the curve, to the grade, to the varying heights of the support beams...well done, as always, Peter! Thanks for showing us so much detail on how you did it. T4

I've often been disappointed in trestle builds such as this because of all the piers having a single plane base and all the piers frequenty being the same height implying a billiard table flat earth. While your build is much more difficult with the varying number of tiers and varying footing heights. And just for fun you've thrown in aa associated grade and a compound curve giving an overall look which is more realistic than I've previously seen. Very nice work Peter and well done for taking on such a challenging build.

Thank-you. I've also noticed that a lot of people do that. Hopefully, this video and the one that I make when I install it will help others to realize that it's not particularly difficult to build a trestle to fit an uneven base like this one.

Really nice work Peter. I think it makes sense for you to build and install the bridges for my layout in your work shop prior to shipment.

Will do.

Tha That looks great. Seeing how you built it on uneven terrain with a grade makes me feel more confident that I can build one in N scale.

Note to self.. No curve or grade on the trestle. If unavoidable, hire Peter. Nicely detailed video.

Can't wait to see the layout take shape. If the trestle is any indication, it should be spectacular.

This area will be the scenic highlight of the layout, with the scenery reaching almost down to the floor.

Thank you for this video. I have been planing on building one of these. I really appreciate the info on figuring the offsets for the curve because mine will also be a curved bridge.

Glad it was helpful to you. This is not the normal way to plot the path of the trestle, and only works if you have an accurate CAD drawing of the layout. Usually, it's better to make a template of the actual layout location. I didn't have this option available because I'm pre-building the trestle and the layout benchwork doesn't exist yet.

How do you transport this delicate bridge to the layout site without damage?
@mpeterll3 жыл бұрын
There are several ways to do it. Most involve building custom crate around it.

It's probably a very good thing that you don't have a cat.
@mpeterll3 жыл бұрын
Yes, and for other reasons as well. I'm dreadfully allergic to them - half an hour with a cat and I can no longer function.
