My two older brothers joined the 1st batallion,Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in 1958 in Inverness, where we lived. I remember when they amalgamated with the Seaforths (my great uncle was in the Seaforths, killed in action 1914) and became the Queen’s Own Highlanders. They were in Signals platoon, HQ coy. I was sad to see the end of the “ Bully beef tartan” kilt. The elder brother Terence Bremner, stayed in until 1973 or 74 and died in ‘81. The younger, Stanley, did about 6 years I think and died only very recently in Tobermory, aged 81. Maybe you knew one or both of them Emlyn ?

Has this been translated into fijian? The bulk of the regiment wont understand it if not....and its not fair.

The music is the same or very similar than Green Beret….
@cavalryscout2 жыл бұрын
It's a rip off of the Ballad of the Green Beret by Ssgt Barry Saddler. Just changed the wording to reflect the Scottish soldiers instead of the American Special Forces.

@@cavalryscout The tune is older than the Ballad of the Green Beret. That's always the case with pretty much any tune. You can add all sorts of lyrics to it. It's like saying the US anthem is a rip off.
@Andy-ScotsIrish-TheGAEL. Жыл бұрын
@@cavalryscouting is most songs are borrowed, lot from Europe. Most USA military songs even the civil war had many tunes reworded. That's why so many songs sound similar. Alot of Irish tunes made their way to Americas and worded for the America cause. An example Wearing of the Green in Ireland Wearing of the Grey in Americas Original I believe is " The orange and the green" But this is just one quick example
