Finally caved last week and bought their Minimatik as my first luxury watch. Probably their most underrated line in the catalog and was really love at first sight back in 2016 when I first got into watches. In a few year, I’ll probably get the new Rolex Explorer 36mm and that’ll be my everyday 2 watch collection.

My normal favourite size is around 36-38mm but I have to say with all the Nomos watches I have tried on even 38-39mm seems far too big. I much prefer the smaller models as they still feel a good size due to the lack of bezel but also feel simpler and more elegant.
@chia-mingyang58042 жыл бұрын
They still have many models below 36mm.

Everyone should see a Nomos watch in person and try it on. I just got the “doctors without borders” limited edition at 37.5 mm. Great watch. 6.5 inch wrist. The watch is only 6.7 mm thick and with hand winding. Very accurate if you wind completely once a day. At 0 seconds deviation.
@anthonystevens86832 жыл бұрын
I have a Ludwig reference 282 in 36mm, with the DUW 3001. Not only is it very slim but with such a narrow bezel the dial looks a lot larger than you may expect looking at the dimensions. If I was looking for the Tangente I'd go for the smaller diameter option as even on my 7" wrist as that dial occupies a lot of real estate. The only odd thing about my watch is that it does not like a winder box (I've tried a few) and stops but on the wrist it's perfect for days on end. As a time only model I'm more than OK with that. I would suggest that anyone who has concern about the lug to lug is to try one if you can, on the supplied leather strap you might be surprised how well it wears. Power reserve is not an issue for me.

I like this brand. Clear minimalist design, manufacture movement, stable value. Unfortunately, Nomos watches are now also somewhat more expensive. But the classic Tangente design (the watch for architects, so it is sometimes called here in Germany) now combined with rhodium still works.

Oh please tell me you are not going for the Tetra. PS I would be looking for something with applied indices. GS (9F) or Seiko Dolce would be my angle: Classic and understated. Congrats, and an engraving service with D-Day would nice.

I understand Teddy probably chose platinum dial as more neutral option to present but their blue gold sunburst dial model from the same release with the same 35 and 39 mm sizes is absolutely phenomenal to me - just the same minimalism and in-house and nice mid-20th century hommage in size but with awesome bright color of the dial. I ordered 35 mm with chrystal back, but it seems like Nomos decided to pull Rolex a little bit with this one and I’m now mid-way through 6-month delivery period as they apparently prioritized using duw-3001 caliber in other releases within early 2024. But watch is so awesome (reference 191) that it is definely worth waiting to me. Plus another upside I find in large delivery time - buyer’s remorse from making $3.5K hole in family budget is kinda vanished by the time you finally keep it in your hands.
@alexanderwouterse12752 жыл бұрын
Both versions are very nice. I like the open backside of the 35mm version a bit more. There is also a version without an open back, but I do not like that.

Gorgeous watch. What drives me slightly crazy is people keep complaining the lugs are super long. While they’re not short, the illusion that they are super long comes from how thin and angular they are.

Patek's own 324 and the ETA 2892 have been running at 42 hours PR and doesn't look set to change so it could be argued that perhaps the power reserve for a watch of this price point isn't that much of an issue (ignoring Swatch's Powermatic 80 which can't be regulated by a normal watchmaker)

What a sharp looking watch! For 3 and 1/2 Grand $, I'm disappointed that there's only 30m water resistance. That is a deal breaker for me. Whoever does purchase one should spring for the see through case back. It would be a crime to hide that movement.

The Bauhaus schtick is getting tired-they’re just repeating themselves as nauseum now. The movements are great but the watches all look the same, except for the ones that look ridiculous (like the square one). Squareish watches are cool-I have a Tank-but the bare design gets old. And my biggest pet peeve is the absurd lug length, which, paired with the extreme thinness, makes anything over 36mm look like a dinner plate on a wrist.

The only problem with nomos is that they don’t really offer more casual / sport watches. Mostly everything is dressy and on a leather strap…and that’s just not the market need / trend right now (hasn’t been for a while) especially when people increasingly work from home and dress more casually.

I was thinking about buying Nomos. It is a bit too simple for me. If I spend a few grand on a watch, I want it too feel special. The stats are not great. Low beat rate, not super accurate, and 43 hours power reserve. The long logs bother me too. I want it to be a little more innovative too. It is not a coaxial or a spring drive. It is thin, but that not enough for me. I get why people like Nomos because it is so understated which a lot people like brands like MVMT and DW got so popular. They are very simple and understated. I do think it looks good, but it just too understated and too underwhelming for me to spend several grands. I'll buy it for a few hundred for something like this. I know this watch isnt for me. I'm sure.
