Case 251: The Caldwell Farmhouse Murders
** Content warning: Child victim, animal cruelty **
When single mother Nadja Medley met an older man named Mike Bullinger, she finally found happiness after a difficult few years. As well as being a fun, kind-hearted partner, Mike was a wonderful father figure to Nadja’s 14-year-old daughter Payton. In May 2017, the three of them moved from Ogden, Utah, to a farmhouse Mike had just bought in Caldwell, Idaho.
But when a woman by the name of Cheryl Baker arrived unannounced at the property one day, tragedy ensued.

@@DarkGiratinaGirl666 I mostly agree. However, some predators are masters of deception. Some stay hidden during years of partnership only to use their spouse as a means of monetary gain through life insurance etc. The majority of folks, expect the rule of law, to be incentive enough to themselves safe. Unfortunately, those predators don’t abide .
@RabMcGlinchie
@RabMcGlinchie 10 ай бұрын
@@clickityclackity75true but most don't even have to be masters at deception because they can spot an easy target a mile away, it's our own responsibility not to trust new people in our lives unless they've earned it. Even people we grew up with can't always be trusted, you just can't go through life putting so much faith into others. Unfortunately desperate women don't think like that, victims look for the good in people and very often that unwarranted trust hurts them in the end. And their loved ones. It's not a bad thing to be extra cautious, especially when kids are involved! I don't know if you've ever watched these catfish channels, if not I highly recommend that you watch a few of them to see just how easily predators can manipulate these gullible (mostly) women. Even when there is overwhelming evidence to prove that the person they've been speaking to for years and given their life savings, kids' college funds etc to is just scamming them they still refuse to believe it. Willfully ignorant.

I find some LDS members look down on others that aren’t a member of their church, NOT all of course Feeling almost a pity because we are all going to hell etc. lol. Oh the irony I find it so interesting, they have absolutely no idea they are in a cult. Do I have pity.. no .. not really. but I do feel sad..sad especially for people/children who’s parents decided for them that they would be taught their beliefs without a REAL choice. Of course there are the obvious reasons but for any church/group that has you give them a % of your earnings, though give very little to local charities and or members in financial trouble (although that’s the impression they give). You’d think that would be a huge red flag to anyone. And then there are the youth that go on missions to recruit other Poor souls .. why. The real reason more $$$$$$$. Like COME ONNNNNN 😳🤭🤫 I’m so glad churches are seeing declines in membership.. idk why .. it helps people have access to the internet to do research and get answers they may have. More children leaving their small towns to move to more populated areas where they have a chance to see what others do 🤷🏼‍♀️. Interesting

Interesting that it is reported that dogs and cats "starved to death" in about 10 days. That is extremely unlikely though perhaps without enough water, they could have dehydrated in the heat. In a state of actual starvation, some among the dogs and cats would have scavenged those that had already died, thus obtaining adequate nutrition. Rabbits on the other hand would be more at risk from lack of food or water and they survived. There are some oddities in the story and not much follow up online.

Abusers tend to flock to institutions that will help them cover their abuse. Male abusers especially like religious institutions because their need to feel in total control of a household is supported by the church. Also Some churches tend to try privately counseling their members before reporting anything (if they report stuff at all). The LDS has a long history of trying to bury abuse.

When will women and Society understand that if someone is beating you they are not your family anymore. Just because you married them thinking you'd be family for life they are not your family forever if what day do to you proves that they don't have that same caring and obligation toward you. You married an illusion and you need to leave. You are not abandoning a family member that you swore to love forever you're abandoning The Stranger they've been all along. And likewise once someone starts beating or badly of using a family member especially if it's a marriage partner people should no longer regard them as family. Police should investigate and prosecutors to prosecute whatever they do as if they were perfect strangers. Yes assaults and murderers wouldn't be considered quite the same as if they attacked someone in Cold Blood but honestly if you murdered a neighbor because you had an argument with them it might be murdered two instead of murder one but it would be murder. Likewise an assault would still be an assault. But when you are married to someone and it's regarded as a family illness, family problem, family conflict than it is not treated as a violent crime that it is! Nor all-too-often does the victim see it as the same crime they would if they were not already married to the criminal. We need to train ourselves and those potential victims out of that mindset. If the person you married appears to be a stranger now, they are a stranger and the person you thought you married never existed. They may do anything to you and they may not be prevented from it or investigated properly afterwards because it will be regarded as a family dispute or a climb of passion related to conflict between family members. It's nothing of the kind.

Idk why its so confusing to people that the animals were dead within 10 days. With NO water, cats and dogs will die within about 3 days. Sooner if they're already mildly dehydrated. Dogs can go about 5 days without food, and cats about 12, as long as they have water. They wouldnt be surviving by eating the ither animals who dird first because theyd all be in similar stages of dehydration - severe dehydration is really painful and the body stops digesting food at that point, so even if some tried they wouldn't be able to live any longer than the others.

I’d file suit if my family, including my young child were basically detained at gunpoint by God knows how many officers. That’s traumatic and violates civil rights to the point of almost being terroristic. Understanding that they had reason to believe they may be stopping a violent and dangerous man; there was no need to drag out identifying the occupants for over an hour at gunpoint🤨
