Today we'll tour my neighbor's beautiful Texas Tough Garden. Paul is so knowledgable about the right native and adapted plants for our challenging growing conditions.

He has such a beautiful front garden! I like his anecdote on growing watermelon as a child🍉 very sweet memory. I’m super curious how that magnolia will fair over the summer.😮 can we get an update later in the season?

Love it. It's hard to find a nice Texas drought-tolerant garden. I'm copying some of these ideas.

Wonderful! Everything I plant must be drought tolerant!

On the crepe myrtles…there are several different varieties-some tall tree types, some medium shrub types and some dwarfs. It is best to research and get the correct one for your application instead say trying to keep one like a Natchez that wants to be 20ft in a shrub form. Just want to save your viewers some heartache/frustration.😊

I just stumbled on to your channel. I love it. I'm a San Antonio gardener...just south of you, but we have the same garden issues.

Great tour! What zone are you in? You have some beautiful blooming plants, shrubs, and trees for an arid climate. Have you seen lantana grown into a standard (tree)? They are so beautiful and a fun project to try. I garden in zone 6a…going to see if Esperanza, and the Mexican willow (?) would grow this far north. Thanks for sharing your lovely yard!

Beautiful examples! I love your commitment to saving the magnolia. I was thinking of trying my luck with fairy blush & little gems but I’m not sure if the deer will be interested
@therockyhillgardener8 күн бұрын
They might be. Deer are definitely a challenge.
