I love you so much! Thank you for sharing and taking the time to do this. It is invaluable to me, since I'm about to buy my first batch of acid dyes. I've been dyeing with food coloring, and I also have some fiber reactive dyes from Dharma that I use for tie dyeing plant based fibers.

Secret to getting dye to strike evenly: Shake the dye to mix, before use. Use a dye leveling agent. Dyes settle, in transit benefiting from a quick shake & tap. Wait before opening, otherwise they cloud. 😊 Leveling agent works, just like the CMYK print vs RBG. Hope that helps!

I know this is 6 months old but I just recently found this. Is there any way to purchase the cards and the class?

frostyarn.com/products/digital-pdfs-of-7-different-dye-cards You can buy the PDF and have them printed/laminated at your local shop.

I would trade my Dharma Dusty Purple, for Deep Maroon! They don't make them. Sigh I do love Dharma. I adore WzF!

I went to your website and dont see where I can order a laminated copy from you. just not trusting a downloaded file in case my printer does not print correctly.
@NicoleFrostYarn2 жыл бұрын
I sold out of the laminates. Not sure when I'll offer them again. These files can be professionally printed and laminated with your local printer.

This is so incredibly helpful!!!! You are an inspiration!! Can you tell me how to exhaust Rhodamine red that I dyed at 3% 🙈... I learned my lesson! But is it a throwaway? 4 skeins of sock yarn!!! So sad! I am so excited to learn from you!!!
@NicoleFrostYarn3 жыл бұрын
Rhodamine at 3% will never rinse clear, it'll always leave a tint to the water. If it's really bleeding and not just a tint to the water, I'd re heat set and then do a synthrapol wash followed by dharmas dye binder for bleeding colors.

You ever try W Cushing acid dyes?
@NicoleFrostYarn2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Not interested in a dye line that's $3.35 for a third of an oz, when I can get 2 ozs for the same price from other manufacturers. The color range is limited as well. Not sure why anyone would dye with this line.

How about Lanaset dyes?
@NicoleFrostYarn3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm not testing Lanaset dyes at this time because the color range is significantly more expensive and a very limited color range. The only "benefit" is their increased lightfastness and supposed lower temperature to strike. I have also never heard of a single professional dyer using them, meaning the pool of people who want a dye Card for lanaset would be zero with a cost of several hundred dollars to purchase, let alone the hours needed to dye, photograph, edit, light balance and format. If you want to read more about Lanaset, here you go: pburch.net/dyeing/lanasetdyes.shtml
