GOLDEN TIP: is way more useful to refer to colors as hues, temperatures, tints, tones, shades and mutes than call them by their names, because their names more often than not do not reveal how they are related to each other on the color spectrum. For example: calling the color "baby blue" instead a very desaturated and very bright tinted and toned version of a blueish color hue is a lot more understandable than simply calling that color "baby blue".

Exactly because it's not an exact science, those frameworks help us so much. In UI, you don't have much room to play with roles: you must have an very well established visual hierarchy. You can get creative with colors, but not too far from the rules of primary, accent/secondary for brand and neutrals and communication colors for usability. Once you grasp the concept of the rules of colors in UI, and understand how to make accessible color palettes and mix and match colors, it becomes much easier to think and add color to your projects.
