Hello Nanny. Well my take on the way the world has gone for all of us. COVID has had such a negative effect on so many. Shutting down everything for months on end caused so much depression and the feeling of loss. The crime, shootings and other strange happenings have changed the world we grew up in. People don't know who to trust anymore. This effects all ages not just us older people. If it weren't for our faith, I just don't know how we would deal with the world of today. You do make the world so much brighter for all of us. We are watching Mary's nest now. Thanks for the tip.❤️

Dear Lolly...Trust Jesus and everything's going to be great❤ I had trust issues too. My husband likes a good cigar and I'm allergic. He took a little puff, possibly in the house one day and after my asthma attack i confronted him. He denied smoking it and maybe he didn't do it intentionally but when I prayed about it I asked the Lord how I could trust my husband. What I realized was that I love my husband and I trust God. That's what we are told in the Bible. Trust God and love everyone...it's the greatest commandment💕💕💕💕💕💕

🦋Hi Nanny & Moosie and friends watching. I can’t wait to hop over to Mary’s Nest! I collected a lot of “Franklin Mint” ‘Gone With the Wind” plates and dolls, along with crystal ornaments and some ‘Precious Moments’ miniatures. My husband filed for divorce 2018 and I was 62, he 65, together 35 years. I was devastated and lost my home, garden and almost all collections. I had to move out of state for my grandchildren, so it all had to go. I got virtually NOTHING for any of it. It about killed me, but, five years later I’m okay. My mom was a collector, but hoarded….it was awful when she died….cost thousands to clean it up and most all of it was ruined by time and filth…sad. I have learned a lot, now 67, and in an apartment so collecting has stopped. I sure miss it!!! God bless you all, and thank you so much for your heartfelt outlook on the lives of those of us at a certain age. ❤️🥰🌹❤️

Hi Nanny! When I was in high school I worked as a nurse’s aide in a nursing home where my mom was a head nurse ( RN). On my lunch break I would go visit some patients in their rooms and spend time getting to know them. I learned so much from them. We’d talk about their youth and different things they did when they were young. We had “girl talk “ about fashion and tv shows etc. That was in the early seventies. Until this day I hold these memories so close to my heart and remember what an honor it was to know them. I love your description of “pro aging”. It’s so important. Time move too quickly!!❤🥰😘

First, your beautiful flowers simply take my breath away. Thanks for sharing them. Second, I love seeing your thrift hauls. I am a thriftier and my collections mostly are things I remember from my childhood growing up on the farm and from the 70's years when I was first married. I love making little vignettes with my collectibles and being surrounded by things that stir my memories. I am definitely a maximalist and love a cozy space filled with things I love. My children have already said they don't want any of these things. But that is fine with me. I don't collect it for them. And I told them that when I am gone, just hire a company to open up the house and have a giant estate sale. It brings me pleasure to think of thrift hunters (like me) walking around and finding some wonderful treasures of their own. Meanwhile, I will enjoy the thrill of the hunt. But if all my collections disappeared tomorrow, I would be fine. I realize my greatest treasures are the people I love and my greatest joy in life is spending time with them. But everybody needs a hobby and I think thrifting will always be mine. Love your channel, Nanny!❤

My best friend Joyce was an avid collector and I also loved to collect. As she was reaching 80 I kept telling her you don’t need all these things but everything she had was beautiful and unique. Sadly she suffered a heart attack but two days before her passing she attended an auction and brought home a steiff bear. She was thrilled!! She enjoyed collecting until the end. It brought her joy!!

Hi from Annie, I have been a collector since a child started with rocks back then and sea shells, I like unusual things these days would look at and buy many different things at the thrift stores.Recently have gotten plates and cups dinner sets and crystals of all kinds, old vintage clothes, material, various statues and signs, pictures framed, tapestry, embroidered linens, old books, vintage jewelry, Even got a old style carpet rug. It gives me a lot of pleasure collecting but as you said we get older and in fact storage becomes an issue too, then is there is no one in the family or friends that like these things who will they be left too?? Seen some kids throw their parents collections in the bins that is awful as many of the younger ones do not appreciate all the hard work and money that goes into collecting. I often think that if I had of known years ago that my only daughter only child would just brush me off like I didn't matter and ignores me not seen her or grand kids over 9 yrs well never imagined that to happen but had I known would not have spent so much money collecting for them. It is sad hope things change for the better, and they come around all I can do is pray and hope. I have cut back a lot on collecting these days. Cheers

Your relationship with your daughter makes me feel sad, ,. Living Doll. As far as collecting goes…I think we have to do it for ourselves and not worry too much about who will enjoy it when we are gone…but never give up on mending the gap with her now…keep trying to connect…and maybe she will realize her mistakes…Hugs, ❤️🙏

We have been planning to take our great granddaughter to Hawaii this year. After discussing again about the whole trip, we decided it would be a big expends, and the way things are going, we better not at this time. She didn’t know where we were going. Now we have decided to take her to the Oregon coast for a week. She loves the ocean. God bless you and Moose, you two are wonderful! 👍🏻💕🙏🏻🇺🇸

Another WONDERFUL video. ❤❤I love listening to you talk about all different things. re: collecting. You are correct in that your kids and grands won’t want all your collections but they may want some. I loved the way my mother in law got rid of her stuff when she moved to assisted living. She put it all out in organized groups ( kitchenware, art, books, etc) and we all went and took what we liked and she said to donate all the rest and that she would not be insulted if we didn’t want much or anything for that matter. I think the ticket is to keep it organized. Something tells me you have some wonderful treasures there that will be snatched up in a heartbeat by someone who will love it/them.

On Nanny ... I love you. Your love of costume jewelry reminds me so much of my late Mom. She passed during the same week that she turned 80 and that was 17 years ago. I will be 70 in about a month. I can't believe it...wow, it's a big one for me to grasp. Anyway, over the years I have collected Longaberger baskets, beautiful hankies (I always put a couple in my purse for weddings and funerals and almost every time give one to someone for their tears of joy or sadness), and my biggest weakness all my life has been my love of handbags. I always find another one that I just have to have. I keep telling my husband I'm not buying more at my age and he says if it makes me happy, just do it. I'm an avid reader so always have plenty of books as well. Keep up the great work on your videos and have fun. See ya next time!

Big weekend for me I turned 80 on Monday! Yay me! Yes I am a collector. It started with bells, small decorative boxes, antiques any and all! I have started weeding out simply because not all mine have same taste as me. Oh I love dishes and glasses. Yes at times I feel very invisible. But granny used to say pull up your big girl’ panties and move on! I have found at this age that must keep busy. I have found junk journaling on you tube and now it is a new hobby. And I use for gifts so a win win for all. Keep on taping and enjoy your family. And thrift thrift thrift.

Good afternoon Nanny and Moose. Loved your video as always. The garden is fantastic with so many colours. I love your garden. What a peaceful place. Loved your new jewels all matching. I use to collect some, special when I worked to match with the dresses and suits etc. Since my retirement from work, I started to wear more comfortable clothes as denim pants, t-shirts and sneakers, as I live in a beach area. From time to time I use those jewels that I like and that are kept in a box. The only thing I still buy that makes me happy are books by my favourites authors that help me pass the time. I have a great collection of books that date back to my 10 years old and that have accompanied me throughout my life. Here we have a saying that goes like this: whoever has a book is never alone. As far as I am concerned, it’s very true. Have a very nice weekend in the company of you nice family and enjoy all the events. Love you Nanny and God Bless you all.

LOL Most my concentration of life has been God, Family a home that is comfortable and to "listen" and "care". I love your new found jewelry pieces. You always look so "put together"....Bravo for you! I think as we get older we sometimes forget to care for self........and that's important! Lovely video, I enjoy all of them. The gardens look beautiful as ever. I have been a collector of cookbooks. I try to stay out of the thrift shops because I inherited my parents and one of my sister's things. I'm not sure what to do with it all, but am working on it. I was thinking that you could open an antiques, collectables, and design shop, where you could "recycle" some of your treasures. You are such a creative spirit and understand human relations, you would be great at this. But on the other hand, maybe you are at a stage where you can sit back and enjoy your collections of treasure from your life. I have thought of opening some kind of store in order to unload some of the family treasure. For now I have it stored in various antique/collectable cabinets. I have a TV set from the beginning of television, a radio from I think the forties which I store old records from the thirties, forties on up through the sixties anyway. I could go on. You get the picture. This is why I try to stay out of the thrift stores. However, I love the beautiful jewelry you have on in the video. Looks great on you. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the invisible age in an upcoming video. Have a wonderful time at graduation and concert in San Diego. Take care. MJ♥️🌼🌹🌸🐦

Hi Nanny, love all your thrift items you have a good eye. Your garden is glorious so is mine right now lots of Hugh iris and peony’s. My mother in law who lived in Redlands Calif. had a barometer just like that with a matching table under it at her front door. That’s a great find. Hugs Bea

Absolutely beautiful garden! I use to collect Fenton glass slippers … I probably have 20..I stopped though when I realized no one was ever going to want them…maybe my granddaughter will some day but I doubt it…my mom collected antique green handled kitchen utensils..probably had 50… I did find a buyer for them when we moved her to a small Brookdale villa.

Good morning Nanny. Your garden is beautiful. Yesterday I planted flowers and herbs in pots on my patio. I hope that they take hold this time. It broke my heart to stop feeding the birds. Hopefully someday when I am assured that the rats are gone I can resume feeding them. So I am hoping that these new plants will thrive. I did not have perlite, but I use Miracle Grow potting soil. Crossed fingers! My roses are really blooming. I find that most don’t have the rose fragrance. However, I have one in my front yard and one in my backyard that smell heavenly. Like the most beautiful perfume! So I am blessed to have two special bushes. Love your earring holder. You got some wooden earrings last year that would go nicely with your new jewelry set. That is a lovely barometer. It will be perfect in that spot. Collecting…oh my. Yes, since I was a little girl I have had collections of one kind of another. When I was little it was stamps (from pen pals around the world) and coins. Then I would keep little “treasures” that I would find. As an adult my collections became associated to my interests. As a stitcher I collected thimbles. Friends would bring them to me as they traveled. They are small and tuck easily into their luggage. I expanded to antique sewing and needlework things. One item that I treasure is a book from about 1901. The young lady had to describe the process of a stitch then attach the fabric containing that stitch. It was obviously for a school project. It is a thick book and very well preserved. She was a very good stitcher. Of course as a sewer I have lots of fabric. Because I love crazy quilting and embroidery, I collect threads, beads, buttons, anything that can be sewn on. My husband and I enjoyed “antique-ing”. He could spot something wonderful that I would miss. I also love books. Then I became interested in card making. Now I search for beautiful papers. By now you have an idea how my home is. Now I also collect antique tea accouterments, teapots, cups and saucers. Yes I have heard about animals and birds “collecting”. I believe that certain things bring us comfort. Perhaps a sense of security. It is a tangible reflection of our interests. I know, because I have asked, that my children do now want any of my things. I am sad that I will not know where the things that I treasure will land. Oh yes I love a pedestal. It does elevate the presentation of a dish (pun intended). I also like tiered dishes. You can serve a variety of foods in a small footprint on the table. Yes I am thinking teatime…lol. I hope that your weekend was wonderful with family. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

My computer has been down for the last 10 days - I've missed your videos! So glad to be up and running again. My neighbor has had so many of his plants eaten by the deer and he even sprays them with deer repellant. Your garden is lovely.

Love everything you shared with us today! An area that I'd love to see the media take a different advertising approach is around showing how quick and mentally sharp we are as we age. The sharpest women I know are in their eighties, you and my aunt are at the top of that list! I'm in my sixties and see how we're portrayed as we age. Many are very subtle messages, while others are direct. A few wrinkles mean we have experience and that counts for so much and we need to honor that. Iris Aprel (age 101 and says she'll never retire) and Martha Stewart are such great examples of how we're still powerful as we get older. We can make as positive a difference in the lives of others just as we did when we were younger. In my thinking, showing our capabilities as we age encourages and lifts up others to do the same. Don't get me wrong. If someone has worked hard and they're ready to retire and take it easy, that's great too. But for those of us who still want to be active and productive, portraying us as such is important. xoxo

Thank you for taking us on your trip to Idaho! I have never been to that part of the country, but I hope to get there someday. It is beautiful. The middle dial of your barometer looks to be a hydrometer, telling you the relative humidity of the area you are in. It doesn't look to have been working, since the dial was on 0% and I'm sure that your humidity is much higher than that with all of the beautiful, lush growth in your garden! I'm not sure how to fix it. As always, I enjoy our visits and listening to everything you have to say. You're such a lovely person. God bless us all.
