I've never understood the whole idea of a timeshare. Just visit the location you want, stay for one week in a nice hotel, then check out and have no other 'maintenance fees' or any other type of fee. Those sales agents must be well trained and well paid.

You should get a lobotomy before entering into a timeshare agreement with the big firms like Marriott or Hilton. I sat through a Hilton presentation, they wanted something like $30k for a prime week plus close to $1k a year. Invest that and you can live large wherever you want a week a year where you want when you want. We like Aruba and there are some stand alone resorts where you can buy a unit for a few thousand and maybe pay 7-8k a year maintenance. You do have the same unit each year at the same time, a much better deal.
