Awesome I remember a couple of times I was given guided tours of the FMG building site in Palmerston North in New Zealand it was great fun the Foreman's name was Darren and he witnessed myself and others watching the FMG construction site

Thanks for the great video. I've been enjoying the weekly episodes, but this is a special treat. Good of them to let you film inside, and Bud is a great guide. Thanks for adding the captions, which help with all the noise in the background.

This was a very fascinating video. Also, thanks a bunch for providing captioning. You're doing some excellent work here.
@HospitalConstruction8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for mentioning the captioning. I don't use it a lot on this channel, because most videos are just music, but when I do add CC (which takes time and effort), I almost never hear whether anyone actually uses it. Unfortunately, at this point it doesn't look like I'll ever be able to go inside again (until the hospital opens), so this was my one chance.

One of the best episodes of the series. Thank you! Yes, we are getting a behind-the-scenes look naturally as this is a construction series. This video is a behind-behind-the-scenes. :-) I wonder what "extras" are being put into this building that make it extra durable for the earthquakes and dangerous conditions that they wouldn't put in a similar building of this size and complexity.

I downloaded all of the videos associated with this project so I can watch them as my time allows. Very interesting project and very well done on your part!!! Cool that you were able to take a tour at week 89 stage of construction. That's usually reserved for owners, lenders and city officials. Thank you for representing the viewing public in that regard. Do you have plans for more projects?
@HospitalConstruction4 жыл бұрын
A new project, called the "Ⓢ series", has already started (weeks 1-5 posted so far).

Having come to the end of the current videos, I was directed to this. It's excellent -- the only ones I liked better had to do with the disassembly of crane #2. Given the monumental effort you put into this series, I'd like to think that someone somewhere will see fit to guide you (and us) around the finished buildings (both the hospital and the one across the street) to see how they all turned out. For what it's worth, the vertical steel bits are columns; only the horizontal ones are beams.
@HospitalConstruction6 жыл бұрын
I can still hope that maybe we'll be able to get some sort of tour, but unfortunately the odds don't appear to be good. Time will tell. Sorry about the imprecise terminology! Thanks for the comment, good to hear from you.

Very cool! It's too bad you can't do this every few weeks or months. Maybe they'll let you do it again in a year or so. The building seems so much bigger from this perspective. Obviously we're all used to seeing it from far away so it doesn't look nearly as big. I was surprised to see drywall at 2:00! I was wondering how the elevator works, how do you call it to a floor? Does that guy just stay on there and run it all day? Also, do you know why they've left the roof open on the top floor, or why they have that lonely column up there?
@HospitalConstruction8 жыл бұрын
+TheMrFinneth They have some sort of communication system, I don't know the details, but they communicate as to who needs the elevator. where and when. Apparently it is required that it be manned by an operator at all times that it is in use. Alas, I didn't ask about the roof, I've been meaning to do that, although it usually takes some time to get answers. I did recently find out what the lonely column is for, and I'm planning to include that in Week 96, as it is looking so far like Week 96 may be a little short on highlights, not a lot to see that week -- so I'll leave that as a surprise for Week 96.
@TheMrFinneth8 жыл бұрын
Ah the suspense! My guess for the roof is that there will probably be mechanical stuff up there, and instead of walls there will be vents. They will probably crane the generators or whatnot in through the roof and then fill in the roof like normal. I'll bet that's why they're raising the tower crane again.

hellow from here again :D just watch your site visit video. just 2 things i missing at this video is: why u dosen't visit that windows assembly place at roof and why u didin't film assembled windows? and thank u for that you change to minutes. love it :D have a super good and warm summer.

+Henri Leinonen This video is from Week 89. The exterior glass didn't start arriving until Week 90, and the first glass installation wasn't until Week 91. So, at the time this video was recorded, there was no exterior glass yet. For various reasons, it took a while to get this video out, the video contained within it was actually recorded about 7 weeks ago.

Hello there, in England we are holding the cricket world cup and in Nottingham we had a guy from San Francisco and I asked him if he had seen your hospital on van Ness street/avenue he showed me a photo on Google but couldn't be sure. An actual guy from Frisco in my city. I had to ask😀
@HospitalConstruction5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Conversely, I heard from a visitor to San Francisco who stopped by the building to see it in person after having seen it on KZbin.

@@HospitalConstruction I'm up to week 86 still loving the show. Interestingly we are having a 10storey plus sub level carpark built behind our courthouse. They have already shuttered the walls of the basement. Some beams lying around but no errection of them yet. Interesting how different the build techniques are between us.
