Nice. I have a 6spd-Manual 2011 Scion Tc. Love the ride. Have a short-ram air intake too, along with a few other things you've mentioned like the strut bars... But looking for tighter turns...does that mid-chasis thing you mentioned actually do the job? Anything else I can use for hugging corners super tight? Also, what RPM do you usually drive at for daily cruising and daily shifting? I cruise at 2000-2500, and shift from 2000-3000 for basic cruising. But when having fun, I shift around 4000rpm

The mid-chassis brace makes a huge difference. I 100% recommend it. I actually picked up all the braces that TB Performance makes. My car corners like a dream now. Since this video, I've also added front and rear sway bars and am in the middle of installing TRD lowering springs. I usually cruise around 3000 and shift around 4000, although lately (since I'm cherishing any time I have out on the road with the pandemic going on) I'm running the engine harder and shifting around 6000-7100 RPMs.

@VampyreX135 жыл бұрын
Until the weather gets warm again, I won't be doing much outside. I was already considering doing a headlight aiming video, but it was already too cold out by then. I did use the 25' distance method when I did mine. I pulled the car up to a wall, marked the center of the headlights with tape, then pulled back 25'. I then covered the passenger side headlight and aimed the drivers side to that the top of the beam was just below the mark. Then I covered the drivers side headlight and aimed the passenger side so that it was 2" higher than the drivers side.

I went through all the comments just to make sure I’m not asking a repeat question, but those side skirt extensions look fantastic, like the 2016 RS10. Where’d you get them and do you have an install video?
@VampyreX134 жыл бұрын
Thank you. They are actually one of the simplest side skirt extensions you can get. I got them from www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-85-x-4-Universal-Style-JDM-VIP-SIDE-SKIRT-FLAT-BOTTOM-LINE-EXTENSION-LIP/321643229836 and no, I didn't do an install video. I may have taken pictures at the time, but that was before I started doing a KZbin Channel. I did trim the front edge to sit flush with the back of my mud flap by cutting out a paper template and I did a lot of measuring and pre-drilled all my holes into the extensions first. I then used those holes and painters tape to mark where to drill the holes into the underside of the side skirts. Just take your time and double check everything before drilling your holes.

Is that a good air intake I was confused when you said no difference in the air temperature
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
It's a good short ram intake. There's short ram and cold air intakes. Some people like cold air intakes because they draw ambient temperature air from outside the engine bay. They don't like short ram intakes because they draw in hot air from under the hood, but when I checked the intake temperature in my scanner and compared it to the ambient temperature outside while driving, there was little difference between the two once the car was moving. I prefer the short ram intake because it has mid-range power gains (better for daily), whereas as the cold air intake has upper range power gains (better for racing).

Any update on the car? I have a 2015 tc auto and my friend has a 2015 tc manual, his transmission basically shit the bed and they refused to fix even with extended warrenty, however my auto has had 0 issues and he did some research and found that a lot of people have the same problems with the 2nd gens manual transmission, namely the clutch and flywheel.

Around how much have you spent on it? I have a 2011 Burgundy TC aswell. It’s an auto because I didn’t know how to drive manual when i first got a car. It’s my first car. I want it to be a good daily driver and yet still be able to beat some of my friends cars. What upgrades do you recommend me doing? I don’t want a super fast car that breaks down and is high maintenance. But i want to make it faster and look better. Thankyou. Edit: And also are you filipino? I am too btw.
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
It's hard to estimate because I'm usually tracking down deals or doing personal trades/buys from other owners. The car is still super reliable with what I have installed because I also didn't want to deal with high maintenance after my first project car. I wanted something reliable that I can drive without worry, but still be enjoyable. As for what mods to do, are you looking towards making it go a little bit faster or handle better. I always like upgrading suspension first more than anything. I recommend starting with the TB Performance mid-chassis brace first, then the front strut bar, then go from there.
@randallrosales3486 жыл бұрын
Derrick Aquino I think the car handles quite well as is. The old owner did a couple things so it has the TRD strut bar up front already. I wanted it to go a bit faster than it currently is
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
Oh, and yes I am Filipino, so much so that my first car was a Corolla, lol. As for your car, I still recommend getting the mid-chassis brace at some point because it will improve the overall performance of all your OEM and aftermarket suspension parts. Here are my quick recommendations: Intake: Get a short ram intake like my K&N since it has a heat shield. A lot of people will say get a cold air intake, but the gains over a short ram are not that much, and coming from someone who hydro-locked their car trying to drive up a hill in torrential downpour, that sucks. If you don't get a K&N, get a reputable brand at least. The intake must be sized and designed correctly to work with the MAF sensor, otherwise you risk running lean or rich or throwing a CEL. Header + Axel Back vs. OEM Manifold + Full Cat Back: Get one or the other, but do not get a header and a full cat back or else your car will be very loud and raspy and you'll feel like you're driving a car that makes more noise then actually go fast. I like my header, but even though I got the catted one, it still tripped the CEL eventually. I was able to fix that easily enough with an O2 spacer. If you don't want to deal with a header and possible CEL, it's much easier to just go the full cat back route instead. I don't have any recommendations for full cat backs, but again, don't cheap out because a cheap exhaust will not only sound bad, but I've seen some break or rust out even though they are supposed to be stainless. I wouldn't do anything more than that for your engine performance since you want to have a normal maintenance car. Anything else such as re-flashing the ECU will definitely move you into the higher maintenance route.

I just bought the Dezod Green Header. Any tips before I install it? For example, what did you torque everything down to?

@JeromeJunior6 жыл бұрын
Okay Cool, thank you. Btw I just replied back to your questions (about my OV tune) in the other video.
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
Cool. I'll check that comment in a sec. Here's the info for the header which I'll include when I have the chance to make a video. 1. Get 2 grade 8 bolts that are 1/2" longer than the ones supplied. This is in case the springs you re-use when connecting to the s-pipe don't have enough give to let you thread the nuts onto them. There is no torque specs for them. I would tighten them down so the the springs are compressed, but still have some play in them. 2. You can re-use the exhaust manifold gasket (generally). If it appears damaged when you remove your manifold, replace it. 3. When re-installing the nuts on top, start with the bottom center, then upper right, then upper left, then bottom right, then bottom left when tightening. You'll want to use 26 ft/lbs. 4. After installing, start the car and let it just sit and idle for 5 minutes. Do not touch the pedal. Then bring the RPMs to 2500 and hold it for 2 minutes. This is needed to break in the catalytic converter.

Hey Derrick, Love your videos. Just have a question. I recently bought a 6spd 2012 scion tc and every time I shift the RPM's go up, then back down slowly. Almost like a rev hang, its really annoying any makes city driving a pain. Did you ever have this problem? The only info I can find online is to get an electronic throttle body controller and it fixes the issue I guess.
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
Can you get a passenger to take a video of what you mean? What happens if you rev it at idle and let go of the gas? Do the RPMs drop as normal? Maybe the clutch isn't engagement as fast as it should?
@austint19986 жыл бұрын
Derrick Aquino I can get it recorded and show you. It's not so much when revved. Only when shifting. It has like a delay. For example if doing a pull and I shift fast into next gear and floor it, it has about a second or two of a delay until it goes full throttle. Leaves me to believe that that electronic throttle body is slow.
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, that does sound like a lag in the drive-by-wire system. Send me a video and I'll see if I or one of my other car friends can figure out what's happening. Did you buy your tC from a dealership? Maybe see if they will diagnose the issue for free for you.

Did they actually install something to be able to do that? Unless you went to Orange Virus tuning, which is the only shop that I know of that has cracked the encrypted Toyota/Scion ECU, your shop would have had to install a stand-alone or piggy-back system to actually tune the car.
@CollinMac965 жыл бұрын
There’s this small box sticking from the footrest on the drivers side with lights. I’m not exactly sure what it is they did but it think it’s similar to a power commander for a motorcycle. Just type , toyota Zelas. They as made in 2017, one year more than here. It's sold in South America Honduras , El Salvador, Venezuela.

Ah, I was searching about info specific to the window control, not the Zelas in general. Yes, I know all about the Zelas. I think the tC engine specs are better than the Zelas though.

Derrick Aquino hey man would you recommend an upgrade on injectors?!
@VampyreX136 жыл бұрын
Unless you're going F/I, it's pointless to upgrade your injectors. The stock ones are fine for N/A setups.

Too much but nice work you probably learned a lot doing your mods. But you also probably could have bought a more sportier car for what you ve paid in mods.
@VampyreX135 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have learned a lot throughout the years. This is my second modded car, though this one is only lightly modded in comparison. While I could have gotten a nicer car, I enjoy modding too much and wouldn't want to accidentally mess up a more expensive car. Also, parts for a more expensive car are generally also more expensive.

All the wires are showing....and a mess.

What wires are you talking about? The only wires in the video showing were the USB charger cords.

@@VampyreX13 Inside your car,USB wire and interior led wires maybe?
@VampyreX134 жыл бұрын
@@redtctoyota2627 there are no exposed wires in the car. The only cables you saw in the video where the four USB charger cords. We were big into playing Pokemon go at the time so we always had a cord for each of our phones and a cord for each of our batteries.
