Thank you all for the incredible support on the last video. I’d like to mention that this is not my boat, it is our families, I have not bought it with my own money but my next boat will be mine!
If you enjoyed the video and would like to leave a tip, here is the buymeacoffee link:

Dear Nestor, About your running aground, I would tell you a piece of advice : Never trust a mooring, you do not know what there is in the bottom. I nearly lost my boat in Brittany twenty years ago. Since then I never take one. The easiest (when on your own) and the safer is 40m chain, 50m rope and a good anchor (Rocna or Spade). Maybe a mechanical windlass (with handle), a good electric panel, an anchor ball and an oil lamp. You anchor 5 times the maximum depths (7 times with Force 8) and you note the last three figures on your GPS (0.001NM). If the wind is Northerly or Westerly, these 3 figures must not decrease. If Southerly or Easterly, figures must not increase. Until 30 kt be sure your boat won't move. It is easy to anchor if alone : you throw the anchor 20m at the height of a boat. You will be quiet, it is cheap, nothing to pay and a good night. I have never dragged.

What a lovely upgrade for you. She seems very comfortable and a nice sail inventory, too. 4-burner stove on a vessel her size is amazing, but please heed that admonition to turn off the gas whenever not in use. I turn it off at the valve when I finish cooking, then at the stove controls so it all burns out every time.

Worth trying to get that liferaft out while in dock to see how easy it is. For longer solo courses, worth considering having it on deck for quicker deployment as it is likely to take much longer in a storm than in the calm of the marina

So there is a label there but not actually a life raft…yet. But yes we have been discussing this recently and if there was a fire you wouldn’t be able to get to it so we will definitely have it on deck 👍

Ton bateau est génial et TU es génial. You seem to be as passionate as I was, but I had to wait I am 45 to get my first boat (un Ovni 36). For 26 years I sailed on my own between Brittany and the South coast of England. Now I am 77, retired, and I've got a new Ovni (47') since six years with which I am sailing round Mediterranean with an abandoned kitten I found in Kos (Greece). Now she has become the skipper and I am the crew ... I wanted to give you 50€ to help you, but I don't know your IBAN. Keep sailing as long as possible et continue de faire tes vidéos, ton histoire me passionne. Au revoir !

@@DoktorBayerischeMotorenWerke You got his pre-nominal title right, but wrong on all your other accounts. All the other peer titles from the Earl of Sandwich, Viscount Hinchingbrooke and Baron Montagu of St Neots will eventually go to his older brother William and his heirs, but not to Nestor. An officer's commission can no longer be bought in the British army nor were they ever in the Royal Navy or heredity !

Quite a few small boats were shoved out of the factory with raw seawater cooling. It is so corrosive and clogging for a motor. If you don't have a heat exchanger and antifreeze system, shut it down and plug it up. A radiator or a heat exchanger will save the day. I have a 23 quart 12 volt chest freezer. It draws 37 watts an hour flat out in eco mode, but more like 10 - 15 with rests. You can use the overpriced deep fridge for storing binoculars, maps, and cameras. I wouldn't have any craft without an American style CB radio. AM , not those FM things.
@stephenkillick5812
@stephenkillick5812 4 ай бұрын
The biggest problem with more storage, is that you accumulate more "crap" that you don't really need! Where do you usually sail? I would love to buy myself a 30 or so footer that I can sail from Richards Bay, which is just up the coast from where I live, with a clear view out to sea from Richards Bay! I would love to sail to see my brother in LA and also family in London.
@nestorandhisboat

Sorry to hear, that it is not your boat. The Sadler 26 is one of my all time favorites. Seaworthy like a big boat, small enough to sail her single handedly at ease, sailing fast and well, unsinkable, near new engine, a lot of sails, enough room for one or two for longer voyages, and with the shoal keel or the bilge keels not too deep, so that you can explore shoal bays and estuaries. All in all, the Sadler 26 was on my short list together with what I got now, an Allegro 27. But her name is deceiving. She is also only 26'4". And has a 47 years old engine. So I envy you a bit. Make the best of your time on bord of this good boat.
