Watched this last night and commented but I’m watching it again so I can pinch some of your ideas. This is the best use of space I have ever seen in a van and I’ve watched a lot of other van videos. You have utilised every inch of space in this van and it’s a credit to you.

This is fun! Thank you. What kind of system were you using for the bed inside the cabin? I saw some clips of the rails and platform that were in your video about the new hard top tent, James Baroud Rooftop Tent, but do you go into more detail about the bed system anywhere? Thanks!

Vanda is a Sweet rig! Really cool job with the drawer and bed build setup! The fact that the Delica has low range 4x4 and limited slip diffs is pretty cool as well. And did I here you run vegi oil in it? Thats so cool I'm planning on putting a kit on my desiel suburban but have thought about just running a mix as I assume you guys do. I used to run a restuarant here in the US where I actually gave my WVO to a guy that ran it in his truck to travel to dirt bike races across the country. It's often possible to get ahold of WVO from restaurants as many of them have to pay to have it hauled off. The bit of hassle I guess is making sure its filtered and clean enough to use in your rig. Ofcourse you said Vanda already gets 30mpg at times which is amazing and really helps on the desiel bill I'm sure. Your channel Rocks and your way of traveling is awesome. I'll be watching often for sure!

Love the conversion, I have an L400 as well and love the way you got moved the center seats over to the sliding door so you have enough room to put in a fridge! I was wondering if the center seats still swivel around or there's not enough room for it to do that anymore?
@OverlandWay7 жыл бұрын
Alex Le hey mate, thanks for that. They do swivel just fine, 90 degrees clockwise. That way we can sit facing the fridge and use it as a countertop. Cheers!

Hi Mike, we will need to sum it all up... but money that came out of our pockets wouldn't have been much more than 6k AUD for the car, 6k AUD worth of gear and 3k AUD preventive maintenance. But I will actually add it all up and come up with correct figures soon. Thanks for asking!

Oi José Luis Proença, a antena na frente é pra UHF padrão australiano. 80 canais. As frequências exatas não sei, mas não bate nem com a Americana e nem com a Brasileira. Então, na prática, só serve pra falar entre o carro e o rádio de mão. Heheheheh

I live in Okinawa right now, and work for the USAF. They’ll ship one vehicle back to the states for free. A lot of people take advantage of that to bring back odd and rare 25+ year old vehicles to sell or keep. Found your channel because I was thinking of bringing home an old delica to convert into a camper, was really inspired by the modifications ya’ll made. Trying to decide between a star wagon or a space gear. The cheapest one I’ve found is about 3,000 right here in Okinawa (so I can avoid shipping costs from mainlnd). What are your recommendations for what I should be looking for condition wise? I already lost a lot of money buying a lemon Hilux I didn’t have the time to fix up myself, so if I can get one that won’t fall apart immediately, that’d be preferable.
@OverlandWay6 жыл бұрын
Have a look for the RV versions! They are awesome and really rare! The main thing you want to avoid is RUST!
@hatman48186 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's what happened to my hilux. By the time I managed to sell it, it had 4 baseball sized rust holes in the roof from the crummy homemade roof rack that came with it. Water would drip on the steering wheel every-time it rained. Rust is pretty difficult to avoid in Okinawa. I'm thinking of getting into welding and practicing on some scrap metal. That way I can learn how to repair body work like that myself, and not have to worry about it as much. Never realized they had RV versions. I'll keep an eye out for them. That being said though, if I do find one, I might go with a regular van anyway. I like the idea of DIY converting one, just the way I like it.

Hello! Thanks for your review of the van, it was awesome! I'm about to buy the same model off a friend and your segment has helped heaps and inspired me to deck 'Flo' (her name) out in a similar fashion. I haven't sifted through the comments yet, will do at a later date so I apologise if you've already answered the following questions. Firstly, can you please tell me about the veggie oil conversion kit? i.e.. What brand, where you got it from, did you install it, any prob's, etc.? Secondly, what's the brand of the tent? Would you recommend this one to buy or have you come across a better product in your travels? Thanks so much for taking the time to make the video. Where are you guys now?
@OverlandWay6 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, glad to hear you got a Delica too... We hope you love the car. We run veggie oil straight through... No kit. And the tent we use now is a James Baroud Space. There is a video about it here on the channel. We do not recommend this older style soft cover tents... They are too much hassle. The hard top ones like the James Baroud we currently have are a different ball game.

really looking forward to your south American leg of your tour. Your videos are so inspirational ! Have a question...how much does Vanda weigh fully stocked up? If I'm doing world tour ...definitely look forward to Africa South America and Canada...possibly Russia too. Another question...have you traveled in tandem or convoy with other people vehicles yet? Love the drone footage too! you're both great presenters!
@OverlandWay7 жыл бұрын
Hi Brad! Thanks so much for the support. The van weighs around about 3 tonnes fully loaded but we're not 100% sure. We're really excited to get into Latiin America too... only a couple more months to go :). Yes.. we have driven in convoy.. mainly with a group of Brazilians here in the US (Arizona and Nevada) and a little while in Australia too. It's one of the best parts of travel seeing as we get lonely driving by ourselves sometimes! Take care Brad!

Hey guys, did you have to move the handbrake across to the passenger seat in order to be able to spin the driver seat around? I want to swap my drivers seat with a captains chair but I'm wondering if I'll have to modify the handbrake position? Thanks, Adrian

Hi Guys, recently came across your videos and its great to follow you! We see your Delica has had a 3" lift, do you still have 15" wheels on or did you go bigger to maybe 16's ? Keep up the good work and we look forward to your reply when you get a min !! Have fun !!
@OverlandWay7 жыл бұрын
Hi guys, we are glad you are enjoying the videos. We decided to keep the 15" wheels to have more rubber. We upgrade from 15x6 to 15x7 so we could fit 31x10.5 tires. It's been 80,000 km and we are very happy with it. The extra rubber allows us to go fairly low on pressure without risking damaging the rims. But I am sure you would be fine running 16 also.
@theroutesofar1677 жыл бұрын
Wow what a quick reply...........just love what you have done on Vanda, we currently have an L200 (with roof tent, Kitchen, mudtrax, 16" offset wheels and AT Tyres etc.... but have today bought our 1st Delica soon to be converted to our latest expedition vehicle, cant wait to get out in it............Where are you right now ? We live in Lincolnshire UK and love travelling the French/Italian Alps and Pyrenees...........
@OverlandWay7 жыл бұрын
We are currently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, attending to some family matters as my brother-in-law is in hospital. Delicas are amazing cars but I guess if you have an L200 you are somewhat used to them (the platform is nearly identical). Either 15 or 16" will go fine... Pajero rims seem to be a common choice. We might see you in Europe soon! Cheers!

Hi VanoRama RV! Our heat exchanger is made by Glind Hot Water Systems, it's an Australian company which makes very high quality ones. We get between 18 and 30 mpg depending on how we are driving. At 80 kms (50 mph) we get 30 mpg. Cheers!

How much if I want to buy a delica and convert it? In australian $$
@OverlandWay6 жыл бұрын
I think most Delicas go for anything between 3 and 10 thousand Australian dollars, depending on its shape. Converting it is down to what level of finishing and comfort you want, but another 500 to 5 thousand dollars? Cheers

Overland Way amazing, gonna go chek one out today, its the 2.8td. ill go solo and need the off road capabilities. Whats the best questions to ask the owner?
@OverlandWay6 жыл бұрын
Yes, ours is a 2.8TD... but even though I love it, I know it's becoming more and more difficult to find good diesel ones as they stopped being manufactured earlier. So I would consider a petrol version if it was in good shape. Main things to look for are chassis rust, head and fuel pump. I would strongly recommend getting one from Delica Garage either in Geelong, VIC or Bribane. They might be a little more expensive but those guys are super honest and will sell you something in good shape. Cheers
