36:48 - T.G.M. was the first presiednt of Czechoslovakia and it was pretty much banned to talk about him during communism, or he was just portraited as a "bad capitalist" during these times. Also to talk about liberation by US army was banned, communists tried to delete this history, but they failed, people in Pilsen and whole western Bohemia were still celebrating liberation by US army even during communism. If you stay few more weeks to 5-8th may, you could even meet some WWII veterans who return there every year or at least their kids, because most of them unfortunatelly already passed away in last years.

There are quite a few smaller European countries where almost all tourism is in the capital. Another one is my country Sweden, we have about the same population size as the Czech Republic and almost all tourists only ever visit Stockholm, but there are many other cool cities and towns much worth visiting, like Malmö, Lund, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Visby, Östersund, Ystad and Sigtuna (the oldest town in Sweden). Also Denmark is much more than just Copenhagen. Pilsen looks interesting!

Pilsen is really an underrated city and this video shows why. Thank you for showing us this video, Gabriel. Česke Budejovice is a nice center of South Bohemia as Česky Krumlov and Hluboka Castle nearby are really amazing spots, some of the best in the country. Brno in Moravia (east) is underrated, too, I had a nice time there in Christmas season last year. As of Slovakia, I can say that it is surely a hidden gem of Europe, especially beyond Bratislava. I travelled there last year all around the country and I can confirm it, endorse and recommend. I recommend doing Trenčin (nice historic city), romantic Bojnice Castle, unique and special village Čičmany with unique painted houses, Orava Castle near Liptovsky Mikulaš (film setting for Nosferatu-1922 Dracula movie), amazing mountains High Tatras (Štrbske Pleso with lake, Lomnicky Štit above Tatranska Lomnica with cable car to 2,634 m) and Košice (very underrated second-biggest city in the country). If in Czech Republic it is all well linked with public transport (trains, buses), in Slovakia it is somewhere better to rent a car (especially for Čičmany village and Bojnice Castle from Trenčin or Žilina) although High Tatras are well connected (towns Štrbske Pleso, Stary Smokovec and Tatranska Lomnica between them by train and with Zakopane, Poland, too). So I personally hope that you don't miss Slovakia once again (as it was last year), it will last only like 14 days the most, so there will still be nice time to go to Mediterranean after that (before the summer crowds). You can also take a flight in Krakow after visiting Slovakia, it is right north of Zakopane. Have a nice time, bon voyage.

I have never expected you to visit my hometown, thanks for giving it a go. I hope you'll give Pilsner Urquell another try in the future. The taste from a can and from a tap can be very different. Pilsner brewery has huge effect on Czech beer culture and the care that is given to pouring of beer is something you will not experience in any other country. I recommend watching the video from Honest Guide ''Why does beer in Europe have huge foam head?'' and visiting any czech pub from list of ''Brewers star'' establishments awarded by Pilsner Urquell and I believe you would understand more why is Pilsner so popular. If you ever visit Prague in the summer, there is a hidden gem called ''Kuchyň'' next to the entrance to Prague Castle, it translates to ''Kitchen'' and it is amazing Czech restaurant with the best view of the city. Hope you will have lovely time in Central Europe and I can't wait for more Greek islands!

Thank you for this tour of Pilsen. A very interesyting city! I would like to add that the company Skoda was founded in 1859 in Pilsen and it famous for its cars. However, the brand ''Skoda'' refers to buses, trolleybuses, locomotives too. Tomas Masarik (1850 - 1937) is a scientist and the first president between 1920 - 1935 of the new-founded Checoslovakia. Besides, Pilsen is the birthplace of Karel Gott(1939 - 2019), the ''King of the check pop music''.

Glad you're heading back to Greece. In case you didn't see my previous post on the subject, if i were you I would rent a car in Athens and drive to east side of the Peloponnese. From Athens, this would involve passing through Corinth, Nafplion, Mystras (near ancient Sparta), and finishing the mainland tour at Monemvasia. From there, you could take a ferry to Kithara island and then branch out to other islands. I've done this circuit many times when I used to teach Byzantine history to American students studying abroad and it is simply amazing.

Hello Gabriel I am not a big fan of pilsner beer either but I would say that Pilsner Urquell is one of the best pilsner beers that I have tried.

27:00 be glad it did not ring. Sound levels from the small ones are around 110DB inside. And that big boy could reach 200DB easily. You would lost your hearing at that distance. I was once inside a church tower doing photoshooting for them. Two minutes before noon something starts to buzz and the bell starts slowly to swing... 1cm left... 2 cm right... we ran downstairs like crazy, the sound hit us on the first floor of the tower. Was not very pleasant 😅 My most used word for a week was "what?"

The Pilsen and Prague tours certainly bring good memories of the Czech Republic. If you are still in Czechia or Slovakia, I recommend the Gambrinus beer (10 or 12). It's a lot better than the Pilsner.👍

Gabriel, thank you for sharing your travels! ❤ Why can you play music on your videos but other youtubers can't? 🤔
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos Ай бұрын
Anyone can play music in their videos, but you have to be selective about which music you use. If you use music that is copyrighted (which is all popular music) then your video will get demonetized. So I use music that is specifically created for people to use in online content. I made a video a while ago talking about that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIe7fpl3iKyUi9U

I've been to Maastricht actually, it was the first town I ever went to in the Netherlands, on my trip in 1990. I was visiting a friend in Germany and we went there for a day trip.

You're obviously not a beer drinker Con Con. No one compares a pilsner with a stout.
