A tour of 'Stanicliffe' model railway in OO

The talented and well-regarded Roger Sunderland shows us around his new home layout, 'Stanicliffe', based on West Yorkshire. Built in only three years whilst finishing off a separate group layout, it features a wealth of details; including working, scratch-built signals, kit-bashed and scratch-built buildings, and beautifully weathered stock and infrastructure. You really have caught the flavour of the Batley, Dewsbury and Staincliffe area , If I look out of my Flat window I can see Staincliffe on the other side of the valley , well done.

Roger an absolutely fantastic layout, being in my 70's and coming from Ossett, (now based near Wimborne) it is exactly how I remember it. Your choice of stonework, the weathering of the buildings (making them really 'mucky' ) is spot on. Being a member of the McKinley Team, our next three stations to build are Halifax, Wakefield and Sheffield, so thanks for some great ideas. Really well done. Cheers Steve Copley.

The different parts of Yorkshire are lovely in many different ways. The west is beautiful in an industrial way, while the north and east are beautiful in a scenic manner. Give me the North Yorkshire Moors Railway any day of the week!!

Stunning layout. I could do with help with mine, only the one, I don't need 200 built✌️👍😊 "Bournemouth West" is one of my favourite layouts. I well remember Bournemouth and Salisbury from my childhood, dad took me to those places to keep me quiet, I remember that the Class 33's were very scary as a very small child, they're a favourite of mine now though ✌️💜👍😊

Without Question a wonderful Layout and your modelling skills are there for all to see, hours of painstaking work with stunning results and authenticity, I would love to have your time and undoubted skills to replicate some of the quality modelling, but I spend as much time as I can on my layout as possible, but I also have another hobby in Photography which as you can imagine keeps me very busy, look forward to seeing more of your skills now i am a subscriber, regards, Colin.

I’m a steam locomotive fanatic. I’m a working volunteer at the Epping Ongar Railway, just outside London. This has lovely scenery, great steam locomotives and also some more often used diesel locomotives and several carriages for the locomotives to haul.
