Tybee is my favorite place in the world! I can't even remember how many times I've been here for vacation! Good memories!

My wife and I found an unexpected treasure, Tybee Island! Tybee Island was an old pirate haunt where we rented a condo for our visit. There is too much history for me to go into now. Tybee is a small community barely three miles end to end. It is loaded with restaurants and bars. The true beauty is in its charm. The homes are beautiful and the beaches are fantastic. There is fishing, boating and many other nature related things to do. There is very little, if any, crime on Tybee Island. There is always activity around town. The place is just beautiful and only a short drive to Savannah. Although the homes are very expensive, I was able to sniff out a good deal on a beachfront condo that just went on the market. One place you must visit is the Crab Shack. It’s a cozy little restaurant that seats just 700 people. You may still have to wait for your turn during the busy season. We love Tybee Island! You will too.

My wife and I honeymooned on Tybee Island, and we loved it there. We planned to stay in Savannah, but due to poor planning and lack of sleep(drove all night from KY) we couldn't make heads or tails of the streets there. We looked at the map and saw Tybee and decided to check it out. It was exactly as you say in the video, laid back and relaxed. We ended up only staying 1 night, but I wish we had spent longer. We plan on returning in the future.

I miss Tybee Island. I live in San Francisco now but I have fond memories of going there as a kid in the 60's and 70's. I mostly remember the malted milk shakes at The Sugar Shack.

Shannon...(and others)...I'm bringing my family down there next July (2013) for a beach vacation. We've previously done the outer banks of NC and since my son in law used to be based at Fort Stewart, he suggested Tybee. Looking at several sites for beach house rentals....any suggestons? We're looking for 4 bedrooms, close to beach, pool...

Planning to come to Savannah for a whole week (and spend a day in Charleston). Also plan to spend a day at Tybee in time for the Labor Day Fireworks scheduled for September 6 2015. Any tips on where to see the fireworks without the huge crowd? Since I have never been to Tybee...how crowded does it get?
@RobinBenzle9 жыл бұрын
PungiFungi I've never been there for Labor Day, but I would imagine it would be pretty crowded. I'd ask the locals - perhaps the main beach would be a good place.
@PungiFungi9 жыл бұрын
RobinBenzle , thanks for the response. Tybee's website claims you can see the fireworks from any point on the island (they must shoot'em HIGH) and I wonder if that is true....
@RobinBenzle9 жыл бұрын
PungiFungi Wow, they must be high! I'd go for that beautiful beach (although I don't think you'll be the only ones there!).
@RobinBenzle13 жыл бұрын
@drivinailsinmycoffin That casual restaurant featured in the video had really good fish sandwiches - the beach is gorgeous - and a trip into Savannah would be great, too.
