Hey, it's me again, I just wanted to inform you that the update came in. You can replay story battles at the bar, view character side stories in the war chronicles, and play the Extra chapter on the title screen. You can't save, but it's only cutscenes. Serenoa and Frederica wedding sprites looked pretty nice.

Oh yes I have absolutely been fiddling around with it and I love it! When you loaded up the extra chapter did it ask you if you used the Wolffort fire traps? Also did you check out the descriptions of the characters and see some of their new artwork. Something I never noticed were that Frederica's description says that she is the Oldest daughter. Does that mean Gustadolph could also potentially be half Rosellan but he got lucky and got the silver hair? It would make some much sense about his ideas of freedom. I know I'm kind of springing this up out of no where but I know you'll give me a good response lol.

@@corvieindo Sorry for the delay. I was indeed asked about the fire traps.I answered honestly, and said yes. Like I suspected, the only thing affected by this choice, is the location of the wedding, namely Whiteholm castle or Wolfort demesne. The dialogue stays the same. Even if you do use the traps, you can lie and say that you did not. Naturally, I took a picture of their new artworks, with Serenoa wearing Symon's pelt cape and Frederica wearing Glenbrook's colors, resembling those of Roland. On the topic of Gustadolph, I do not think that he is half Rosellan. He simply looks too similar to Thalas and Erika, while looking too different from Frederica. He not only shares the silver hair of his fullblood siblings, but also notably their eyes and pale tone of skin. Despite growing up in the same climate, Frederica is not as pale as them. I think that while she may be the oldest sister, Gustadolph is the oldest brother, and the firstborn of the previous Archduke. It does make me regret, that we do not get to see the child of Serenoa and Frederica.To determine whether or not, it would inherit the pink hair. On a side note, Lyla's new scene with Quahaug, was quite welcome. I do wonder, how the hell did Sycras survived falling from Twinsgate. We shall never know. Although, I later realised that the only characters having screetime in this chapter, were the ones already featured in the Golden ending picture.

I find it interesting that it just has a prompt that asks you if you used the traps. I suppose it would have been way too much work to put a check for it in the game. Serenoa in Symon's pelt cape hit me right in the feels. I just constantly get confused about the whole Gustadolph thing because of the timeline of events. There's a scene where Gustadolph mentions Orlea telling him about the Rosellan people. I just kind of find it odd that if Orlea were the Archdukes mistress, what happened to Gustadolph's mother during that time? It makes me wonder if she is still around during the end of the saltiron war. Unless I don't remember a cutscene explicitly saying she died or something. Also yes it was absolutely nice to see Lyla and Quahaug get some closure. I think for Sycras maybe there was enough snow to cushion the landing. To be honest while I appreciated the extra cutscene the voice acting threw me off. I'm not sure if it were just me but all of the characters sounded "different" but I'm now sure how. Kind of felt like they were being held a gunpoint or something.
@envyandselfhatred8197
@envyandselfhatred8197 Жыл бұрын
@@corvieindo From what I recall, Gustadolph mother is never mentionned. I would assume that she looked like an older Erika, with a close likeness in cruelty, as well. That would explain why Frederica having a different mother, ended up much kinder than her half siblings. Despite not being half Rosellan, I believe that Orlea's ideals on freedom, may have inspired Gustadolph in some way. Perhaps that led him to have some kind of respect for her and her people. He never said something racist about the Roselle,unlike Erika and Thalas who may have been too young to actually get to know her, before she was sent back at the Source to die. Anyways, that is simply my headcanon. Roland's mother and Lady Destra are also absent of the story. I suppose that the plot didn't care much about mothers, eh? On the point of the voice acting, I initally agreed that it seemed a bit different. However, after a second look, I can say that for the most part, it is the same as it used to be. I guess their voices weren't fresh enough in my mind. Only Jerrom and Serenoa seemed to sound slightly different. Jerrom's previous voice Billy Kametz died, so it had been replaced by Alejandro Saab. Serenoa was voiced by the same person, but it sounded like he was recovering from a cold. I might expand with one last reply later. A much shorter one. Edit: In case I wasn't clear, I meant that I would wait for you response, before making that last reply. I could ramble for longer, but I would hate to waste too much of your time.

Sorry about the late reply I've been caught up in finishing up rogue galaxy I'm almost done but the end of the ride has been bumpy and I am starting to hate it a bit. I would absolutely love to hear the rest of your thoughts. I originally got the idea about Gustadolph because i thought him and Jerrom looked similar in ways.

Ngl, I always found the Benedict is the dad theory kinda off. Short version is that it just adds shock value at best and ruins the two central characters at worst. For one it just complicates Serenoa’s lineage unnecessarily. Surprise, Symon isn’t your father Regna is. But surprise again! Regna isn’t your father, Benedict. Just, why? It doesn’t add to anything. It’d even cheapen the weight of the ring and just make Regna out as a fool. Second is that it sort of cheapens Benedict’s devotion and his vow to Lady Destra. He exhibits the extreme of courtly love, promising to look after even her son in her name. He saw her not just as his liege, but as a family member, based on his talks with Erador. That is shown to be his fault, his inability to grow beyond his vows. Something made apparent in both the Moral and Liberty endings. The next paragraph is major liberty ending spoilers so be aware. The reason why he wants to make Serenoa king is a form of revenge against Regna and Symon for treating Destra as something to be passed around. She had little say over the matter outside of loving Regna but because they couldn’t protect her, her life was swept off her feet. If Benedict was the father, then it’s more like he raged about losing his love and just puts on airs to show that its some grander devotion. This is all without discussing what it’d do to Destra’s character. I’m not saying she can’t enjoy herself but more on the implications of the royal signet being sent along with her. Did she just fool the royal faction into thinking she’s carrying an illegitimate heir? And Regna into thinking she’s carrying his child? That’d go against what’s been established as her character: someone who is full of love for others.
@corvieindo

I respect your opinion and appreciate you checking out the video. While it would complicate Serenoa's lineage it's not unreasonable to say that this could happen. In Glenbrook if you're poor theres really no way for you to make it out of your station. Who is to say Benedict and Destra didn't plot this in order to rise through the ranks of Glenbrook. There's a lot of terrible people in this story tbh. The thing is that the timeline of events are extremely wonky. In a Benedict character story there's a flashback of him and young Erador needing to deliver something to Destra in the crown city from Wolffort. Benedict is all too excited to get on a horse and deliver that mail by hand while Erador had sent a bird. It was raining but it turns out the bird got there first. I personally believe Benedict lied in order to cover for spending time with Destra. I do remember the one about Erador saying how Destra sees them as siblings but why would Benedict ever deny that it would only help if he were trying to keep the truth hidden. I don't believe this would have any negative impacts on Benedicts character in fact I would think that it makes him a very tragic character. He wakes up forced to live a lie every single day. Again all in theory. I mean Benedict is leaving flowers at Destra's grave, taking care of her son, he even adopted Anna which I find just the slightest bit strange. It's almost like he took her in because he didn't have the opportunity to raise Serenoa directly how he wanted. Also thats just the thing lady Destra being "full of love for others" is such an odd statement. To me it almost sounded like they were calling her a common whore but sugar coating it. I mean think about it Regna met this beautiful attractive woman while out exploring the crown city. Milo exists showing us that more promiscuous women are a thing in this world. I'd like to believe that Destra honestly just got herself into something she realized she couldn't handle. I don't believe it was her plan bear an illegitimate heir but it's just what she thought happened. What im trying to get at is I feel like Benedict knew Destra, they also had love for each other, one night they committed the act out of passion for each other. Probably not too far from her having a round with Regna (out of love). She's unsure who the father is but goes with the best bet for staying alive. Serenoa is born, starts growing up and suddenly Benedict starts having second thoughts. I mean if you go look at the young Benedict portrait him and Serenoa look so much alike it's insane. I just don't believe that's a happenstance. I'm not saying that this is what happened again I theorize. I feel like it would be a nice hidden plot to the story and truly don't feel like it would cheapen anything. Thanks for the discussion it was nice.

I have another idea that’s mostly based on my personal speculation; I think that at an earlier point in development, Benedict was meant to be Destra’s brother, and in turn Serenoa’s uncle… This is based on the fact that from his younger portrait in the flashbacks, and on Destra’s unused artwork, it really looks to me like they COULD have been related; it would also track with the fact Serenoa actually looks a lot like Benny, which of course led to the OTHER theory, but… well, why not? I’m aware that this comes apropos of nothing, but I feel like there’s enough circumstantial evidence that it MAY have been considered at a certain point. Not definitely, but a bit of tweaking and it would work in-context. What d’you think? Am I just completely full of it, or d’you reckon it’s at least feasible that my crack theory might have some merit to it?
@corvieindo
@corvieindo Жыл бұрын
That sounds pretty reasonable. I have not seen Destra's unused artwork and would love to see it if you happen to remember where you saw it. I could definitely see them considering it at some point in development for sure. If that were the case though what do you think made them shy away from this and go with the steward route? Maybe because Svarog was in the game they considered two of the main characters having important uncles would be too much? I'm not sure. The only reason I can think of for why this theory of Benedict being Serenoa's uncle would not work is because of the flashback cutscene with Erador saying how Destra sees them as siblings. Which would indicate they're not. That and since Destra weren't fully flushed out I would guess that her artwork that looks like Benedict would more stem from the fact that they could have based her design off of Serenoa which young Benedict also happens to look like. I definitely think the uncle idea is something they played around with and probably just delegated to Svarog entirely.

@@corvieindo I mean, it's mostly a theory - one based on the idea that maybe Benedict looking like he could've been Serenoa's dad wasn't JUST a visual red herring (or an accident of design, as the case may be)... Never gave the idea that he's ACTUALLY his dad any serious thought, as it would destroy Benny's whole character arc and reduce his motives to sheer pettiness. Really, if it was ever more than pie-in-the-sky thinking on my part, then it was definitely abandoned early on; you'd not just need to rewrite dialogue but also key aspects of their relationship. Including giving a reason why Serenoa didn't know this... As for that artwork, I recall someone posted a link on Reddit last year; if I can dig it up I'll link it myself in another reply. 🙂 Either way, I just like how Serenoa has this big extended Chosen Family around him: his boisterous stepdad, his two surrogate dad-uncles, his stoic-but-caring big sister, his secret half-brother bestie... Later adding more of them like his dear wife, his wife's mentor/surrogate mum-auntie, his best friend's heavily-implied love interest, the unaware little half-sister and her bodyguard/maybe-love interest (depending on how you read it), and all that's just the core cast. 😀

@borjankosarac3645 You've given me a lot to think about as far as this game and the concept of chosen family. It definitely is a large part of this game and something I did not really put too much thought into. Although I do have one mind blowing fact about this game that I were going to save for a video but I'll tell you here. In one of the games many lore notes left about it explicitly states that the royal family of Glenbrook and Aesfrost share a "common ancestor" (specifically "The History of Aesfrost" gives the most detail). If this were true it would technically make Serenoa and Frederica's relationship incest. and man honestly I'm just having a hard time accepting the fact I spent 300 hours playing a game about incest (I joke, the blood relation thing is real though). So yes chosen family and they're all actually family haha.

The video was pretty long, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It must have taken quite a bit of time and effort on your part, so I sincerely congratulate you. I feel that the game doesn't get as much love as it deserves. If I were to guess the reason, I would say that the slow beginning and the lack of customization, are the cause. It's unfortunate that these two elements would discouraged players from enjoying this masterpiece. Concerning the choice at chapter 15, I guess I'm weird because I stayed at the capital. It just seemed more urgent than the two other choices. I simply couldn't let Patriatte steal shit from the people, and let him walk around like he owns the place. I was hoping that Symon could refrain from dying while I was busy, but I had a feeling that he would die of sadness as a last fuck you for not picking him. I agree with your positives and negatives, so I won't go too much into details. The best music is when you start attacking Avlora at chapter 14(Roland) followed in second place by chapter 19 (Roland ending) when you confront Gustadolph. Like you said, it's strange that there is no cutscene viewer, I would of liked to view certain side stories a second time, without having to start another playthrough. Tactics Ogre Reborn has a cutscene viewer so I'm not sure why Triangle Strategy couldn't. You mentionned Tactics Ogre came up with follow up attacks, but I believe that it is new to the Reborn remaster. It's called pincer attack and it takes up a skillslot out of four. On a last note, since you brought up the Triangle strategy subreddit, I was curious if you read my thread called : Roland's ending is my favorite one. It was somewhat controversial and I had to fight for my life in the comments (slight exaggeration). I would appreciate it if you could give it a look. Thank you.
@corvieindo
@corvieindo Жыл бұрын
The slow beginning definitely does damage this games reputation along with name being Triangle Strategy alone. I've come to love the title and it's simplicity but that's probably due to spending way too much time with this game. While the customization sucks I feel like this game was more meant to be a curated experience. I mean I didn't mention it in the vid because of time but the main 7 technically each have three character sprites along with with three different weapon sprites (aside from Roland). I feel like that was an extra added layer of detail that often goes overlooked and I'm upset with myself for not at least glancing over it. With the chapter 15 thing I can absolutely see it as a matter of perspective. Hearing your reasoning for staying in the Capital makes it sound a bit more reasonable. I guess it's just my own personal lived experiences that made me see going back to Wolffort as the best choice. Yeah the music for those chapters were indeed bangers. Let the both of us hope that the cutscene viewer comes out soon (Even though I have all the routes and side cutscenes recorded). Also I was unaware of the fact that the mechanic were new to reborn. I guess you caught me the fake ogre fan haha. I was playing it at the time I was writing the Triangle Strategy review and thought it were a remaster and not a remake with new mechanics. Wish I could've had someone like you around to fact check. I do remember seeing your post show up in the thread and at that point I hadn't played the Roland ending so I did not understand the amount of vitriol coming your way and I still don't. It was a good ending. I think people really got too tied up in the emotional aspect of losing Frederica and took it out on the ending. To me the Roland ending is good and shows the fall of a once grand nation and the idea giving ones self up to a greater power. I'll go back through to find the post. I appreciate you checking out the video and your input! Peace.

@@corvieindo I have some questions for you. Did you figured out that the Hierophant was an automaton, before the reveal? I did, but only after I heard Lyla and Idore mentioning using the automaton if the situation becomes desperate, just before chapter 19 of Benedict ending. I previously had many theories, such as : 1- There is nobody. 2- Quahaug is the Hierophant, because of his Hyzantian clothes. 3- There is no twist, it's just a random old guy. 4- The Holy One from the Saltiron War is still there, but as a lich. 5- Orlea never died, and is the one behind the curtains. The last one is pretty nonsensical, but it would of been funny. I also think that the automaton was conceived with the idea of representing the previous Hierophant, in her youth. Anyways, I love her design and her Divine Punishment ability, which prevents your characters from being too stingy with their TP. Did you complete all the chapters in hard, and obtain the crown on the title screen? Or what about the Plume of Immortality? Personally, I aim to get the crown on a 4th playthrough, in the near future. My two previous runs were mostly in hard, but I had to switch to normal for some battles. Did you complete Tactics Ogre Reborn? Are you going to do a video about it? Did you find my thread on Reddit? I doubt you will find it by scrolling, seeing as it is 10 months old. Last time I checked, it got to over 7,5k views, which I was rather proud. Well, I guess I will stop with my essay, before it goes on too long. Thanks.

I remember my suspicions being confirmed in the same chapter with the Benedict ending. Not so much that it where an Automaton but just a thing that were not human or some kind of weapon. I remember mainly joking and thinking that nothing were there in my first playthrough. I originally seen it as a way for Idore to buy time to think and I still kind of do. In around chapter 12 where Benedict calls Idore out on the salt crystal it became clear to me Idore was in charge. When Idore realizes that Benedict sees right through him instead of stopping to consult the Holy One Idore immediately asks "what is it that you want from us". I think that's the most forward we ever see his character be outside of the golden ending last fight. The Hierophant is definitely a fun design. I did complete all of the chapters on hard and all but two I did deathless (Lyla fight on Frederica ending felt nearly unfair) (Rufus Arena fight) . I did get the crown but did not get the plume of immortality due to being unaware of the fact that dying in a mental mock battle counted towards losing it. Which another complaint I didnt get the bring up about the game were the forced aspects of new game plus. I would've liked to have been able to have the option to do a new game plus while resetting levels but keeping all materials and maybe current unlocked upgrades. I know it sounds weird but new game plus play throughs of this game felt too easy even on hard mode. I feel like the hardest way to play the game is on a fresh hard save because resource management is a huge aspect of the game. You'll never be able to fully upgrade all your characters in one playthrough. I only got a few hours into Tactics Ogre Reborn. If I ever do make a video on it id probably like to do something a little different from a basic review like I did here. Maybe I could compare the aspects of the old one to the new one or something to keep it fresh. Im starting work on a video for a game called Rogue Galaxy if you have ever heard of that. I could maybe do Tactics ogre after that. Also yes I did go back in find the post through the search bar for Roland ending and left an upvote. There was a ton of discussion on that post, very nice. I get it I love this game too and love talking about it. It so damn good I hope we get another.

@@corvieindo I completely agree with new game plus problems. I only did my third run in NG+, so I could play longer with late game recruits, get the three high conviction characters, and facilitate the golden ending. For my 4th playthrough, I'll probably start fresh and do it entirely on Hard, so I can get my crown. At least, the main cast is enjoyable enough, but I would of prefered if the whole roster starting at level 1, was available as well. Oh and fuck the Plume, apparently you can use auto revives, but you can't let green units like Jerrom die, so yeah. I mean, you can cheese it by doing the run in very easy, but where is the fun in that. I've never heard of Rogue Galaxy, but from the quick search that I did, it looks interesting enough. I will become your 10th subscriber, and I'll look forward to it. Thank you very much for the discussion, and until your next video, have a nice day.

It’s been a while now but I remember there being a thread in the Triangle Strategy subreddit with a guy openly defending the slavery in the Roland ending. As I understood it they came from a background where slavery wasn’t a thing so they didn’t really understand how atrocious it is. They got downvoted to hell. When I finally played it for myself I realized I never liked how no one mentioned Svarog literally destroys his whole country for his son, it was powerful and I wish that were more of the focus.

Hi! I just want to say that this video is pretty convenient when I want to remember some elements of the story. Yesterday, I made a thread on the subreddit (feel free to check it) and I rewatched some parts of the video, to be sure of the information that I had. At first, i thought that you were speaking about me or my Roland thread to be exact, but I did some digging and I think I found what you are talking about. It's called : What’s with the hate for the utility ending? To be fair, he was not defending himself very well in the comments. He said, and I quote "I’m actually not a fan of human rights as a concept." It was a funny trainwreck, I'll admit.
