I loved her when she was in sister act with her snappy and subtle comebacks. But downton abbey she was a hoot! I loved her screen time

From her PRIME of Miss Jeanne , through countless other roles (notably Daphne Castle in EVIL UNDER THE SUN) to the larger than life Lady Grantham, Maggie has always flown as high as the flag atop DOWNTON ABBEY. I believe she may well have echoed Violets last words....Oh do be quiet ! I Can't hear myself die. 🎉 🏆 A life WELL lived on and off stage! 🌹 💐 🕊 🕊 🕊

I truly hope that Dame Maggie opened her box set and took the time to watch this series. She wouldn't say it, but I will; SHE made the series and made it the phenomena that it was. Without her, it just would have been another PBS period drama. I, personally, tuned in every week just to see Maggie Smith steal every scene she was in and enjoy the banter between her and Penelope Wilton. There will never be another like her...EVER.

Her voice used chest voice, vocal fry, nasal/mixed voice, head voice, she exploits the sound of inhalation, her diction is deadly precise.... and that's just her voice...
