I remember when I was a kid that 64 was considered to be old, and people started to retire. Now, in 2024 64 isn't that old anymore. In fact, it is the prime of people's lives now. I see people loving their job so much that they keep working well into their 70's. Sam, sorry you did not get that opportunity. My you rest in peace! LA will miss you!

Sam was a staple in my home. I'd turn the TV on to KTLA5 & get a cup of coffee. I would watch the news but my favorite part was watching Sam report or interview celebrities. That was my favorite part of the news & day. I was ok bc Sam was there. I will surely miss him. ❤ Today, I just couldn't watch the news.

Mr. Fishman passed in 2007. I still have the tribute to him on my channel along with the Chris Burrous one.

I have been watching KTLA Morning News since 1991, I belive the first time I tuned in was when Mark joined to team. Although I never personally met Sam, it felt like I have been friends with him since then. I am still in shock over his passing. May he rest in paradise. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, both at home and KTLA as well as his loyal viewers 🙏 🤍

Didn't he also report for the E! network? I thought I saw him on there many years ago.

What did he die from was it medical

The cause was a heart attack. We also lost two other journalists prior to Sam's death for the same reasons, one was Robb Hanrahan, who worked in our area and two other markets. He survived his but died from complications related to his heart attack in 2022. The other was Denise Descenzo of Hartford, Connecticut's WFSB, who passed in 2019. Her heart attack, like Sam's, was sudden.
