*The clip from **7:53** was one of the last shows Sean recorded before he died. My wife and I were in the studio audience. The media at the time claimed that only his wife and a couple of his closest friends knew about the cancer (which was of the lung btw, but with several secondaries in addition). But that just wasn't true. Everyone at Channel 4 knew, everyone at the Royal Marsden knew, and everyone in the studio knew. Thousands of people knew. They just chose not to make a thing about it which is exactly what Sean wanted. It was hilarious and Sean was on top form. Yet there was something very tragic and emotionally charged about the whole day. Jon Richardson and Suzie Dent were visibly and very genuinely upset. So much so that they had to pause recording a number of times so they could wipe tears away. In fact one of the funniest moments which wasn't recorded on the day, was Jon and Suzi having to get their stage make-up re-done, and Sean (jokingly) shouting angrily at them, something like; **_"For fecks sake, get your shit together you two. You're supposed to be feckin' professionals!"_** Anoushka and their 3 kids arrived at the end to take him home. It was a heartbreaking, hilarious day we'll never (ever) forget. RIP fella x*

I sometimes wonder how some other comedians could be on the same show as Sean, most are just left standing by his fast wit and when you can make other brilliant comedians cry with laughter even they must admit that Sean was the master. Jimmy Car and Lee Mack are on the same level as Sean but even they rolled up laughing. So glad that you liked Sean, such a sad shock that we will never see him on new shows like this again.

He was terribly underrated and, I think, one of those comics it was difficult to pigeon-hole. This was very much more common in British comedy in the 1990s, where you could almost be a bit random and find an audience. And it was great the way the imagery he conjured up didn't always hit you straight away. You had to picture it a bit more.

I am sure I am not the only English person who has been touched by the respect shown to Sean Lock by American reactors. There is so much rubbish talked about 'diversity', which has to be one of the most overused words in society right now, and yet these videos prove that differences such as skin colour, accent, background and country are only superficial differences and that it is the fundamental things we have in common that really matter, such as love of family, friends, vulnerability, fear, joy and humour etc. These videos show that Americans who have enjoyed Sean Lock, feel his loss no less than those who share his country of birth, so, contrary to the ideals of those who push 'diversity', it is the emotional connection we feel through things like this that succeed in unifying us and ignites our appreciation of each other.
