I guess it does have something to do with wrist position but when bowlers talk about a backup ball, they're referring to throwing a ball with the curve that the opposite hand would usually curve. For right handers, throwing a ball with curve that goes left and left handers curve it right. A backup ball would be a right hander curving it right or a left hander curving it left. It's somewhat difficult to nail down consistently and most bowlers don't attempt it but I'm impressed Charlie can.

Bowler of 12y here with your weekly advice. So the difference between your red ball (IQ RUBY) and your blue ball (i believe that's a NU-Blue) will be pretty noticable. The red ball will be much more responsive towards the end of the lane, and will be much more angular. The blue ball will be trying to use it's energy early, even if there's oil there, (which will cause it to sometimes hook less). If the edges are hooking a lot, both would work, but if it ever feels like the ball is just never hooking, that's where I'd recommend you use the blue ball. If you're also looking to make that blue ball better, you can buy an abarlon pad to actually sand down the outside of the ball to make it hook differently. A 1000 grit abarlon pad is where i would start, and would do a lot

More important than anything else I'm about to say, get your own personal bowling shoes, they will help you avoid planting and slide much better than house shoes One big thing to note is that storm (not sure what it is, looks like an IQ Ruby?) Is a pearl, which means it goes much further down with a more aggressive reaction Which is probably why you noticed a lot more 9 counts than usual with it if you're used to weak solids or urethane The Blue Hammer looks about perfect for your game, Urethane-like motion is very smooth, and it's a lot more controllable, especially on patterns like a house shot with more hold in the middle and dry outside Essentially, much more miss room with the Blue Hammer over the IQ, though if you can master a pearl it annihilates the pins like a hydrogen bomb dropped directly on a coughing baby

When going Brooklyn I typically move left but aim in the same spot. Some bowlers move back so that they can gain more speed so the ball can go a little farther down lane. Definitely recommend doing either of these in the future. Either way you are killing it! Keep up the great work. Facility manager/head mechanic for the old 82-70 machines here- bowling is a very physical sport if you do it right, stopping for full body weight at speed on one leg over and over will definitely tear up your thigh and hip, I’m 26 and I feel it lol. Stay behind the ball longer! How the ball is drilled will make it hook regardless as long as you have enough revs and a slight angle at release. Staying behind it will give you more control of the hook and forces the ball to drive forward THROUGH the pins not such a drastic right to left motion.

I like Charlie and want him to do well, so I think it's in his best intrest to at least say something.
