I went to Madrid on s photo trip with four batteries 2 new LP-E6P and 2 of the old ones, I shoot mostly 8K 12 raw and a lot of stills in raw and in a full day I didn’t had to change the battery, probably one day i did and I just switch it once but this ones lasts a lot - I am blown away, the trick is not to leave it in stand by, just switch off in between shots and you will have some awesome batteries, I used it on the R5C and the Lowa 10mm 2.8 (that do not connects to the camera, maybe that was the extra boost time)
@TonyMellinger2 ай бұрын
I have 2 of the new batteries. I haven’t really tested them out because I use the small rig 50 and 99pro batteries. I need to just see how it does for me. It’s honestly a bad habit I have… turning the camera off instantly ha

@ yeah I have two of those too but too heavy I have been carrying around with me 5 small canon batteries for months and that worked, but with this ones newer ones is even better from 5 now I have 2 and in a single day I did not had to change the first, it is way better

@@travelexplorer Hi, question. Can shoot 8K60 without external battery using the newer LPE6P batteries? (which was no possible with the LPE6NH)
@travelexplorerАй бұрын
@@RickyCheungI just test it, with my Canon 70-200 2.8 (wont work) but with my Lowa 10mm 2.8, does work, i am guessing the not contact lenses will work because there is not much power draining, i am guessing that any cinema lens you use with it will work, and just in LT 8K 60fps, not ST. If you put the camera sensor in Super 35mm mode it works under ST but not HQ, and on Super 16mm mode you can use the HQ and goes up to 120

Great stuff- I use a power bank with 3m Velcro picture hanging strips on the bottom of the ronin plate, same idea and runs all day! Then, with the new canon battery (LP-E6P) that ships with the R5ii, any time I disconnect from power, I have plenty of life now that you get an almost 50% extra life in comparison to the LP-E6NH. Game changer!
@TonyMellinger3 ай бұрын
That’s great! I have two of the e6P batteries getting delivered tomorrow. I find the same way with my v mount. Even if it disconnects, I’ve got plenty of juice to get me through what I need. Thanks for watching!

I can attest the new lpe6p battery greatly improves the runtimes of the R5C. It’s like a new camera with that battery as you no longer have to rig it out for just run and gun normal use it’s great.

Can you natively shoot 8K60 raw without external power with the new LPE6P batteries?
@TonyMellingerАй бұрын
@@RickyCheung I just tested it and you can shoot RAW LT in 59.94p. You can also shoot that on regular e6NH though too.

@@TonyMellinger what lens? I think @travelexplorer just said no with native RF lenses because of power draw.
@TonyMellingerАй бұрын
@@RickyCheung weird. I don’t remember what lens i had on there but i only have canon RF glass.

Hey Tony, Is there a way you get the camera to tell you the battery life when connected to the v mount vs it saying “PD” and when mounting the battery on the gimbal does it count towards the payload capacity?
@TonyMellingerКүн бұрын
The camera just says USB PD but your battery might tell you how long it will work pulling that much power. The SmallRig batteries tell me. And yes, the way I have mine set up, it counts towards the payload capacity. I have the RS4 Pro so I have no problem with staying under weight. You could mount the battery on the handle and that would take care of that problem if you’re running into weight restrictions

What kind of runtime are you getting at 8k 24fps / 60fps with the LP-E6P? I'm thinking of switching from a similar v lock system to battery grip with x 2 Ep6P batteries
@mrdamiansingh20 күн бұрын
@ For 8K 24 you will get around 60 minutes give or take! The way how these batteries work is you get the same amount of time in video as in photo the LP-ENH would only give you like 30 minutes then it reserves! But these will shoot till the batteries actually dies! I don’t shoot 8K like that because I love the AF AVC codec so I’ll always shoots that! With I can get 90 mins on a full charge but I still use my External Drive because I’m rigged up but I have the confidence when I use a gimbal I won’t get nervous! lol as well I only use the battery grip when I’m 90 percent only doing photos! I’ll then use my old batteries in my grip! The camera looks 😎 without the grip when shooting video LMao 🤣

Hey Tony, great video. I was curious if you had any issues getting your Smallrig batteries to charge to 100%. I have the Mini VB99 and it never charges to 100%, only to 88%, and when I pair it the R5C, the camera is stating I only have 30-50 minutes of runtime in video mode at 1080p, which is so wrong. Wondering if you had any tips or if that's a Smallrig issue. I will note I've had the Mini 50 and 99 and both have had the same issue.
@TonyMellinger2 ай бұрын
Oh man! No, I haven’t had that problem. Have you tried a different power source? If you have a MacBook, you could use its charger. That seems to work really well.

You just mount the camera vertically and it’s the same formula. Rotate the display/monitor by 90% and you have a vertical setup.

Making R5C bigger and heavier than C70 is not a solution, C70 is then a much better buy, especially used. The point of R5C is it's size, and fortunately we now have LP-E6P batteries, that is the only real solution for the battery life problem.
@TonyMellinger25 күн бұрын
I agree the e6P is a great option. There’s a difference between the r5C and c70 though. You can’t use the c70 as a photo camera. That’s why I makes sense to me to use an alt battery if you need extended times.
