So I found this channel about a month ago and became slightly obsessed. Thought it would be a brilliant idea to go back to the first video and watch them as they were made. Boy has the last month been a ride. I have laughed, cried and enjoyed every bloody minute of it all. Im finally up to this last video and i honestly feel sad to watch knowing that I will now be waiting weekly like all the other fans do currently. Im gonna saviour this one. You have been a constant in my house for the last month Kaylee so much so even my man said your voice has become a permanent part of our days. Very happy to call myself a fan and look forward to keeping up with the journey. Thanks for everything 😊

I stopped watching your videos for a while because while I love the "rare" plants, they're just not in my price range. I've come back because your video quality/production and how much research you put into knowing your plants is unmatched on youtube. Thanks for hours of entertainment!

It's the same for me! The most expensive thing I own is a anthurium clarinervium (that hasn't put out a leaf in weeks :( But I love it). most of my other plants are cuttings.

I would never pay more than like 50 euros for a plant, and even that is a lot of money for me. But I think these videos satisfy some sort of curiosity very well! It's fun to see what's out there, even if I have no interest in owning rare plants.

I really love your haul videos (I mean I love all your videos because you are queen 🙌) but I also love that you show your plants just how they are. Instagram makes plants so “perfect” looking which is nice but it sometimes makes people forget that that’s not realistic for some haha. Water marks, funky leaf shape, and weird new growth...all normal and we love to see it!

I think your Alocasia Odora Okinawa is actually Alocasia macrorrhiza variegata. Both of them are very similar and confusing to us Thais too. Okinawa leave is usually more pointy and the colors are darker/whiter.
@rachelnutter56853 жыл бұрын
I was about to say the same thing- not to mention the fact that most people don't actually have odoras, but actually have gageana (myself included). Definitely looks more like a macrorrhiza. The easiest way to tell is how the leaf and stem meet- the macrorrhiza comes to a point with the stem, while the gageana/odora have an extra section of leaf between the top part of the 'Y' Edit- seeing the close up I'm not totally sure, but I do know it's NOT what most people call odora (which is the gageana haha)
@pitschno3 жыл бұрын
@@rachelnutter5685 Yeh the 3 are soo confusing. Alocasia Gageana Variegated adds to even more confusion haha. Even here in Thailand I keep seeing people asking about the differences between macrorrhiza and odora on fb every week. The prices are so different tho. Odora is almost 10 times more expensive.
@rachelnutter56853 жыл бұрын
@@pitschno for sure! Here in the states macrorrhiza is more expensive, but I’ve also never seen an actual odora for sale... they’re all gageana that are mislabeled 😂 it doesn’t help that a big box store will occasionally release a bunch of them and just label them “variegated alocasia” or worse “house plant” 🤦🏼♀️

I got A. Odora Okinawa Silver from a seller in Okinawa (I live in Japan) a few months ago at an auction and is considered like weed in Okinawa so I got it at a reasonable price here (lower 2digit in dollars). I put it in high light under a grow light and all the new leaves got smaller and are all white. I moved it to a darker corner and now grew a leaf with variegation with more green. Currently grows 1 leaf every 2-3weeks in winter and seems variegation is stable.

My Mexicanum is definitely super easy to care for! Consistently gave me new growth throughout winter too!
@GrowingSouth3 жыл бұрын
The Odora variegation is stable usually. IME They tend to like it warm and very moist with morning and late evening sun, and very bright indirect light during the main part of the day. They tend to be heavy feeders, and prefer loose well draining slightly acidic soil that is both nutrient dense and consistently moist. Whenever I have attempted to grow them in leca/or clay aggregate of any kind, and use synthetic fertilizers, they die, burn, or shrink to nothing. Perhaps others can weigh in on their care, but if they are cared for properly they seem to explode in growth.

Hi Kaylee Ellen, I love how honest you are about giving us the truth regarding all plants. Do you know if the Golden Gem Rubber Tree is one that reverts a lot. I bought one, within 3 weeks the golden color was gone. I tried different locations....nothing happened. I put it under my full spectrum grow light and still no golden color. So I tell people that I have a lemon-lime colored rubber tree LOL. It is very health, just an odd color. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend. 🌸

I've had an A. Okinawa Silver for years now. It's taken a ton of abuse and just keeps trucking. The mother plant's variegation has remained wonderfully consistent. The pups she's put off are hit and miss. Most have nice variegation, one is mostly green, and a tiny (and I do mean TINY) one is pure white.
