The asparagus fern his full name is asparagus setaceus and is family to asparagus(the vegetable), the xanthosoma was first called 'xanthosoma lindenii' then caladium lindenii' and now 'phyllotaenium lindenii', quite a complicated history 😂.
@sergiopascale34873 жыл бұрын
I happen to have both Phyllotaenium lindenii & Xanthosoma lindenii & they're so different with the size of the leaves, the sinus & venation, so I don't think it's the same

I recently moved to California from Vermont and it's invasive here! It randomly pops up in our garden bed all over the place. It's still one of my favorite plants though (albeit indoors). When I moved I gave away a massive one I had growing in a planter and it feels so funny pulling it out of the earth now.

Definitely getting one once I move out!

@kai39623 жыл бұрын
@@alicemoore6724 On a few of the different Indonesian and Thai sites. On EBay too, but there was only 1 listing. Everything at the moment is out of stock or no one is really selling them until the Spring. This is for the Variegated Florida, that is. I’m pretty sure that the Thai and Indonesians sites do have other kinds of Variegated Musa available. Also I’ve seen that a few different Indonesian or Thai growers have these guys in tissue culture, and that they’ll definitely be coming out in Spring 2021.

Asparagus ferns are considered weeds of national significance here in Australia so we aren't encouraged to keep them. But if people do, the general consensus is keep it contained in a pot and never put it in the ground.

Yeah if you plop that banana in a rich soil and put her in almost direct light with lots of humidity and water, you can achieve like 4 feet in a year... with the right care. They are super duper heavy feeders because of this. Im in the US, and used to grow giant patches of different Bananas.. we had some 20 & 30 ft trees.

I 😍 the asparagus fern! Great choice 😁 Since I put my asparagus fern in lechuza pon (kept the soil clump around the roots, put vulkastrat under and around and on top of the root/soil clump) it has doubled in size and makes beautifull long shoots! Is in vulkastrat since august, 3 months and is still growing shoots now in november. Newest of 90 cm! Never had it grown so good and large. Definitely can recommend self watering pots with vulkastrat/lechuza pon!
