The flower was a poppy. The top down and era of the game reminded me of the first Wolfenstein game "Escape from Castle Wolfenstein" that I used to play in the late 80s on my Apple iie. In that game you were trying to do what the title says, and you could sneak up on the enemy, hold them at gun point, steal their uniform to try and pass as one of them. You could use grenades to blow holes in walls, and find all kinds of useful stuff in chests along the way. It was a lot of fun, and I was always surprised it did not show up as an extra on one of the many other Wolfenstein games.

Rats don't normally eat live humans, but they did in the trenches, because the trenches were so bad. You had to sleep with your boots on, so the rats did not eat your toes. See in the film "1917" they have all food and personal items hanging from nails on the roofing joists, to again keep them from rats. The name Yves is said like Eves, that's because French does not follow English pronunciation.

I backed this game in Kickstarter. Got my key a couple of days ago, just waiting for release so I can play. He did release a demo for backers years ago, which was great but things have progressed so far since then. Amazing achievement for one guy.

If you all want a trench fighting game: "Foxhole" is an amazing top-down MMO persistent war where all equipment is made by players. No AI or NPCs Siege Camp is also developing a medieval counterpart called "Anvil Empires"

I kinda like the limited inventory aspect, but perhaps having item sizes vary in inventory, or at least making keys, lockpicks, and other smaller items not use the inventory space would be an improvement.

i'm assuming the trench repair stops enemies from respawning like boarding up windows in resident evil, repairing the wire stops humans from hopping in, blowing up the rat hole stops rats etc.

I think it's the way the models interact with the background, along with the slightly-clunky horror combat; but I was getting some old school Alone in the Dark vibes(not the new-ish one; haven't played it; the we-have-polygons-but-not-textures-era one). Inventory clearly going for RE; though.

An uncutable rope, eternally doused in fuel for some reason, that you cannot ignite with the lantern right next to it - that 'riddle' is at the same time super straight forward and makes also zero sense!

this game has a lot of potential to be a unique horror game, but puzzles aren't scary. they weren't scary in resident evil and they're not scary now. however if puzzles and light horror elements are your jam then more power to you.

KEYS DO NOT TAKE INVENTORY SPACE, this simple trick has been figured out a long time ago and fixes the fuckery with pointless backtracking and not using it is a mortal sin. Useful supplies is one thing but keys and lockpicks is just dumb BS.

meh who cares whether this game is unique or what? Game is horseshit! The developer didn’t even bother adding a feature to rebind the movement controls from WASD to Arrow keys?! By the God’s developers from ages past always add rebind options when it comes to first person shooters and survival horror game titles and yet such a crucial and simple feature, they couldn’t even get it right the first time. In this gaming industry, the standard nowadays is quite low and that’s very concerning… the people who give praise to this lousy game are players who usually uses with WASD movement controls likes there’s a discrimination wherein this particular developer favors newer generation of players as oppose to older players who prefers custom keybind controls using the arrow keys. HARD PASS, don’t believe this propaganda bullshit, looks shiny but it fails in technical terms and overall comfort playability for people who uses arrow keys or custom controls. Lucky for those idiots who uses WASD options I suppose. Buying the officer edition was a mistake, I want a refund! Don't make me buy a controller since I'm a PC gamer and don't force to use WASD options since I prefer custom arrow key controls. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME! This game is so restrictive as it does not allow you to change the controls to your preference.

@@-TriP- I'm been rebinding my controls everytime i play any horror games or first person shooter for decades now and its my first time to hear that you need to use the (fn) function keys to rebind controls? Already refunded and uninstall the game for good so I won't know for sure.... If that was the case, this game is poorly designed technically speaking. even the older Alone In the Dark allows me to rebind my controls and that game is older than this game hahaha... How the gaming Industry has fallen.... Withering Rooms is a better game than this, that game has exceptional rebind controls i can use the arrow keys and numb pad comfortably! A technically sound game unlike this junk!
