We mixed milk cows and horses, carefully, in grazing pastures. "Carefully" because I have seen an over-protective cow take a run at a horse. But I have never seen a horse initiate an attack on a cow! Bella is being extremely territorial! I wonder if the fact that Apollo and Farouk are absent has brought this on. The Herefords are fascinated by her, and Bella wants nothing to do with this herd of strange horses! If she hadn't been grabbing the cattle by the poll, Bella would have been injuring them. It does raise an interesting question: If she has limited her "herd" to strictly Apollo and Farouk, how is Bella going to react when she meets her first strange horses? And she is extremely imitative, and with no other mares around, she's picking up male habits. And that would include the other 2 ignore the cattle, and they're not there to temper her response.

@@childcrone I owned the dominant Morgan mare on a breeding farm, and I have been reminded of her absolute hatred of strange dogs! And it didn't matter if I was astride, or not. The standing joke was that because I acquired her right after her dam foaled when I was only about 10, and I only put her in breeding rounds once, she decided in her 4-legged mind that I was her colt and remained so as long as she lived [also the reason we only bred her once, as we had to place the filly with a brood mare as mine had apparently decided she already had her colt to take care of]. For whatever reason, outside of the family's dogs, all other dogs were fair game, and not allowed near the pastures or paddocks. But, normally, cattle are recognized as harmless and even accepted as part of the "herd."

It is SO heartwarming to watch her. My word she has come out of her shell. She seemed to be enjoying a lovely game with them! She didn't seem distressed or any thing like that at all! Just decided, "what fun! I can make them move at my will!" Lol. We love her so much Tara. I'm glad things worked out this way. She truly is a gem. And you saw her at her roughest. ❤❤❤

I cannot decide whether she is checking to see if you are watching because she thinks she is being naughty and does not want to be caught, or if she is actually showing off for you, so checking to make sure you see her. I adore the way the bullocks all just stand there and stare at her, they move away slightly but come straight back. I think she was saying the gate area was hers just like Apollo did with her a few days ago.

I had a half-Arab, half-Quarter who was a natural cow horse from day one. Brought her home at 4 months and she was AMAZING! Athletic and incredibly intelligent. Bella is an Awesome girl! I picked her out of your choices back when you were shopping. Enjoy!

OMG I have never seen a horse do that to bulls or cows. I noticed these Bulls have thick curly hair on top of their head, and she did not hurt them. I love the way she also keeps her eyes on you . Queen Bella either wants you to watch her, or she watches for you to turn your back. Either way Bella is very smart and it shows . She is such a rascal and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her, this was a one of a kind thrill. Beautiful Queen Bella !
