I can't help to be aggravated with Bella and Diablos breeders😡 It also makes me wonder what they did to get a head collar on her and get her loaded to bring her to you. I honestly hope the little girl hasn't been traumatized in some way before arriving. They know they are going to be putting their foals up for sale yet they apparently do absolutely nothing with them... not even the bare minimum... I find it frustrating to say the least. Fortunately for Diablo and Bella they're in your care now and as I think Diablo already has Bella will soon realize she now has nothing to fear with you Tara. She's such a beautiful girl, I'm excited to watch her come along 🖤💜🧡😈🌸

Like I said before. Bella is the best. She is an uncut diamond and you get to start off her life. She has a great start with you. You have the patience and the knowledge she needs. You won't rush her. The minute I saw her in your video I said that is the one. I like Diablo but I think Bella will reward you more. She has an old soul and very kind and intelligent eyes. She observes and doesn't seem to panic. Very intelligent filly.

Poor Bella, it makes you wander how they got a head collar on, definitely no patient training, what does she eat, just grass or hay, at least she is not being aggressive towards you or too jumpy so with your wisdom, kindness and patience she will come along nicely, very time consuming, I do hope she lets you put head collar on soon, she needs to go out. It makes me sad she had no basic training before she came to you, so grateful she is with you now.

I am encouraged by Bella being unconcerned as you brought in the barrow and tidied up :) She didn't mind the barrow or the noise, interested in the hay bits you were collecting. You are right to wear the helmet (wise Tara!), you've been around horses and understand the possibilities. I liked hearing about how Farouk would have been ape in the beginning, also why you don't use a hay net (after Farouk's foot was caught)... You are getting her calmed to the sight/touch of a lead, haltering... Experience is invaluable, Bella's a gem, you are marvelous with her! Bless you all, it certainly looks as if she recognized and called to Diablo! And if commentors wonder why you would horror of horror want to work with them young, this is a great example. Had she had a bit more of it, both you AND Bella would be having a better time of this. You are marvelous, all of you :) Looks like she likes Rens and Steve too, sweet Bella... You inspire me :)

I'm beginning to think watching this video that Bella was sedated to get her in the box to travel to you. She is certainly inquisitive & like you say not a nervous horse. Such a shame she didn't have any handling from being young, she would be loving field time along with Diablo now. With your gentle training she will get there, just needs time.
@daskrummelmonster53844 жыл бұрын
Janice, that's exactly what i was going to write also...so i save the extra comment...sure in that Trailer the Breeders had they probhably loaded the Mom first and shooved her sedated in the other Box...but working 3 Weeks with a Foal should look different...if these two were breeding Warmbloods or Thoroughbred's they would be killed by now....Very Irresponsible toward the Buyer and the Foals 🤬

This video made me so happy and so sad at the same time. I'm sad, that she has such a distrust of hands and collars - goes straight to the point of early training. But I'm happy to see how she is responding to you. She is going to be great, once she realises, that headcollars mean cool things happening, and that you are not going to be doing nasty things to her. I don't want to be nasty about her breeder, but responsible isn't a word I'd use about her... (And: happy to see you with a hat on ;-) ) Keep up the good work.

I love her Tina Turner hairdo. Poor little thing she’s so frightened being handled. Maybe she might like lucerne hay as treat/bribe instead of pony nuts, it’s just a thought, it’s irresistible to any horse. Even wild ones. I’m looking forward to see how you train her. I understand it’s going to take time but it will be so worth it. Once the love comes you will not have a better animal. I know you probably don’t see it now but it’s going to be a wonderful journey... I see her expression and I see intelligence and kindness. But when handled a whole lot of anxiety. She will overcome that with your gentling. And bonding. Every day is going to be a bonus for your viewers as we watch her progression. Can’t wait till tomorrow.

I am 62yrs young and in my younger days trained 2 untouched foals with similar methods to yourself. Both ponies turned out to be amazing champion children's ponies (one a lead rein until the child got older and went on to pony club events) . She’s such a sweetheart. You can tell she wants to trust and there’s just something about her head. This is when you wish they could speak: clearly she had some negative experience that involved her head. Your patient reassurance will get it sorted. Wonderful use of your voice to help calm her. Great that you discovered her liking having her withers scratched. I read once that gently massaging the withers - thumb on one side and rest of your hand on the other can have a calming effect and I found that to work. I remember lining up in jumping classes waiting for my turn to jump and if my horse got restive and I massaged the withers, it had an instant calming effect. Really good sign that she follows you as you turn to exit the stall. Like she’s saying, “Wait! Don’t go.” As you say she’s not overall spooky; just the head shyness. Wonder if there’s some kind of connection with the marks or bites or whatever they are that you noticed. A mystery, for sure. She is so lucky to have found herself in your excellent care.

thank you, a lovely comment
@warriormaiden98294 жыл бұрын
It's because of mutual grooming. Most grooming starts at the withers and goes from there. A second place is right in the middle of the mane (in the middle of the hair). Kind of like when your head gets itchy and you give yourself a good scratch, that burst of feel-good "ahhhhhhhh" relief? (An odd way to describe it, but the best I can do right now... XD) Horses get the same when you give them a solid scritching down in where the hair starts growing. Almost got knocked over by my lesson horse every time I did it. He'd lean waaaaay into me, and I was only 90 or so pounds. He was this 15hh Morgan gelding, and I'd have to brace myself before I started. XD Most of the other horses I've fone that with have had similar reactions. (Not quite as strong, but they very obviously enjoyed it.) Give it a try, and see what they do. :)

Im glad you brought her home to you. I was frustrated because you know she just wants to go with Diablo and have fun in the paddock and if she had just had a little more handling in her young life she could have gone with him. Awesome job with her :-) Your patience is really going to pay off with her :-) I'm going to throw out a few ideas and you can think about them and see how they feel to you. I would work Diablo in front of her, ignoring her. Make a big deal of him. I would also adjust her food a bit so she is hungry until she associates you with all things good in her life. Hand feed her her meals. She isn't spooky and as soon as she figures out you can be trusted things are going to fly. She is cautious in giving trust. I think she is pretty smart. What a beautiful filly. She is timid of human contact like a feral horse. She has seen humans and tolerates them from a distance but has never been handled. How can the breeder breed horses and not handle them as foals? This would avoid the situation you have now. As you say she is not spooky. This is good she will soon overcome her timidity and being in the box in close proximity to you where she can''t get away forces her to overcome her shyness. Just make sure she doesn't jump out over the door after her friend when he is taken out to the field. I have known some of the timid ones to do this. What a pair of magnificent youngsters they both are!

Bella is lovely. Thank you for sharing your insights into her personality ("not spooky"), what she needs. By the mucking out, she was more comfortable, even sneaking some hay out of the barrow. Curious to see more of your Bella-specific training methods. She'll soon be in the paddock with Diablo! Good girl!

You are so patient and she needs the kind voice and patience right now. I think she is very curious and when she overcomes her fear of people, she will be a star. She's a smart one ... checking out the wheel barrow and who has contributed to the contents. What a bonus that she wasn't spooked by the shovel scraping noises or the wheelbarrow. I really love how you analyze the horse and adjust the training to suit the animal's needs. That is why you are successful ... as a thinking trainer. No "one size fits all" ... that would not work as it is so clear how individual your four are. Thanks for the intro to beautiful Bella.
